Sony has released a new trailer for Gran Turismo 7 that highlights the haptic feedback features of the game made possible with the PS5’s DualSense controller. Like other PS5 first-party games, DualSense integration plays a large part in the gameplay experience and Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony digital will be using the peripheral to replicate the sensation of taking a ludicrously-priced sports car onto a race circuit.

Way back in 2020, Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi described how the DualSense could be used to translate the technical feedback of driving a car.

“I think the most effective use of the adaptive trigger [in Gran Turismo 7] is for representing the operation of the antilock brake system (ABS) while braking,” Yamauchi said back then. “The adaptive trigger is suited for recreating this pedal feel, and it will allow the player to accurately feel and understand the relationship between the braking force they want and the tire’s grip.”

There’s been a steady flow of trailers over the last few months for Gran Turismo 7, highlighting aspects of the game such as the various cars that’ll be included in it and the car culture community. Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled to release March 4, 2022, on PS5 and PS4. For more details, you can check out our Gran Turismo 7 hub.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, the long-running franchise’s first next-gen game, now has a free demo available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, as well as the PS4 and Xbox One. The demo will let players get experience with the game’s new castle siege gameplay, as well as a feature that lets players customize their officers prior to battle.

The demo will give access to what Koei Tecmo calls a “challenging tutorial,” which will let players navigate both offensive and defensive scenarios in the new castle siege gameplay. The two types of gameplay featured in the demo are Invasion Battles, which task players with capturing enemy castles, and Defensive Battles, where they must defend against an invading force.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Koei Tecmo’s Akihiro Suzuki also warms that the demo is set to a much higher difficulty than the final game, which will let players select their difficulty of choice. While the demo includes plenty of tutorial points, it promises to be a challenging introduction to Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires’ new features.

— PlayStation (@PlayStation) January 26, 2022

When trying these demo battles, players can choose to play with one of the game’s standard officers, or can use the edit mode to make their own officers for battle. Anyone who ends up buying the full version of the game on the same platform as they played the demo will also be able to transfer their custom officers into the final game.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will release on February 15 on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Stadia, as well as on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Fortnite Week 8 is here! As of Thursday, January 27 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM PT, seven new challenges and 175,000 XP are up for grabs. This week’s list includes pizza parties, Klombo-aided gliding, and scoring an elimination at the most famous location on the map, among other things. Check out the full list of Fortnite Week 8 challenges below.

Fortnite challenges – Week 8

As usual, the new weekly quests are listed in the Seasonal Quests tab, viewable in-game and while in the lobby. Each one is worth 25,000 XP and they can be completed in whichever order tickles your Fortnite fancy. Here’s how they’re shown in-game, followed by tips on completing each of them:

Talk to Island Nomad, ExoSuit, or Galactico (1) – 25,000 XPEliminate an opponent in Tilted Towers – 25,000 XPRestore shields by consuming Klomberries (40) – 25,000 XPDestroy structures by knocking down Timber Pines (10) – 25,000 XPGlide for 60 meters after launching from a Klombo’s blowhole – 25,000 XPDance for Llana at a Vending Machine for 5 seconds – 25,000 XPTake Pizza Slices from a Pizza Party item (2) – 25,000 XP

The newest item in the Fortnite repertoire, Pizza Party, of course factors into one of the challenges for this week. If you find one around the island, make sure you get two slices for yourself in order to complete the challenge. Meanwhile, talking to Island Nomad, ExoSuit, or Galactico is easy: find them on the map, strike up a conversation, and suddenly you’re 25,000 XP richer. If you don’t know where they are, check out this handy guide on every Fornite Chapter 3 Season 1 NPC location and you’ll be able to plan a landing right on their doorstep.

Klombos and klomberries are key for two of this week’s challenges.

You can follow our guide on Timber Pines to complete that task–just make sure you aim the falling logs onto existing structures, even if you have to build them yourself. Similarly, our look at where to find Klombos and klomberries will help you knock off two of the seven quests, nabbing you 50,000 XP in the process.

The final two quests are the most straightforward: First, find a Vending Machine and do any emote in front of it in order to earn the XP. Second, head to Tilted Towers, find a weapon, and take out one opponent to complete that quest. We’d recommend not landing there initially though–it’s a very popular drop spot, and getting that one kill may not be easy as it sounds.

That’s it for Fortnite’s Week 8 challenges. Make sure you’re staying ahead of the seasonal quests, as we’re betting they’ll factor into how you’ll be able to smell what The Foundation is cookin’ as soon as he unlocks next week.

Genshin Impact‘s latest event, Fleeting Colors, is live now through February 12, offering up a variety of special challenges and rewards. The Fleeting Colors event revolves around the Lantern Rite Festival in Liyue Harbor. Players can recover treasure, solve shadow puzzles, and smelt fireworks, earning Primogens and other rewards along the way. You can even earn a free 4-star Liyue character of your choice turning the event.

Players will need to be at least Adventure Rank 28 and have completed the Archon Quest “Chapter I: Act III – A New Star Approaches” and Archon Quest Interlude Chapter: Act I – “The Crane Returns on the Wind” in order to participate in the event.

Flameplume Starflowers

The firework smelting challenge

The Flameplume Starflowers section of the event revolves around prepping for the firework show in Liyue Harbor and in creating your own fireworks. This section is split into three parts, with each part having you complete a short quest followed by smelting some fireworks. The subsequent parts are time-gated and will unlock later during the event.

In part one, you will be given the task of speaking with a few different characters, with the ultimate goal of helping Keqing prepare the fireworks display. After completing the quest, players will be given the Launch Tube, a gadget that can be placed on the ground and used to smelt fireworks. In the smelting menu there is a series of different fireworks that will need to be smelted. Each firework has three categories, color, size, and height. Each firework will require a different amount of smelting progress to be made in each category.

You will get to select different smelting techniques, which will use various amounts of stamina and will affect how much the bar increases when used. The goal is to the Ideal Zone located on each of the three bars, which will award the highest amount of points. Achieving a perfect score on each firework will award the maximum amount of rewards. Fireworks can be smelted multiple times, but each tier of rewards can only be achieved once per firework. The Flameplume Starflowers challenges award the Affluence Talisman.

The Great Gathering

You need to use the Waverider to destroy the supply balloon

The Great Gathering section of the event revolves around Beidou searching the ocean for valuable items lost when the original Jade Palace crashed. After a short tutorial quest setting up a story revolving around the Treasure Hunters also collecting the valuable, players will be tasked with multiple challenges. The challenges revolve around using the Waverider boat to collect floating items in the water and attacking bandit camps to take treasure from there too.

After completing the first set of challenges, players will unlock time trials where they must follow a supply balloon and attempt to destroy it with the Waverider. There are Treasure Hunters in the path of the balloon along with explosive barrels. The purpose of the challenge is to earn points by destroying the supply balloon as quickly as possible. Bonus points are awarded for defeating Treasure Hunters. Players will need to earn at least 3,000 points on each challenge to earn the maximum amount of rewards.

Similar to the other sections of the event, more challenges and quests will open up later into the event. The Great Gathering awards Immaculate Talismans.

Wondrous Shadows

The Wondrous Shadow challenge

One of the simpler parts of the Fleeting Colors event, the Wondrous Shadows section involves a series of shadow puzzles. The quest and the puzzle challenges can be found by speaking with Yuan Rong on the Liyue Harbor docks. Each puzzle involves rotating an item until the shadow of the object clearly shows something specific. For example, one puzzle involves making the shape of Beidou’s ship. There is a meter in the bottom right corner that shows your progress and will either fill up or empty depending on if you are making the right moves. There is a two minute timer for completing the puzzles and the rewards are given regardless of how long it takes to complete it.

The Wondrous Shadows challenges reward Affluence Talismans and more challenges will unlock later in the event.

Oceanic Defender

The Oceanic Defender section of the event has not yet been unlocked, being held until February 1. This section has players repeat the fight against Beisht that happens at the end of the questline for rebuilding the Jade Palace–which is a prerequisite for this event. Players will need to complete specific challenges during the fight, although these have yet to be revealed.

Oceanic Defender awards Conquest Talisman

All Rewards available

The 4-star characters available to be unlocked

In addition to the Primogens and other rewards given for completing the individual quests and challenges from each section of the event, there is also an event store and two other special rewards. The first special reward is a free 4-star Liyue character. You can choose from Xiangling, Beidou, Xingqiu, Ningguang, Chongyun, Xinyan, Yun Jin, or Yanfei. Purchasing a character requires 1,000 Affluence Talismans and 1,000 Conquest Talismans. Players must also complete the “The Stars Inscribe the Year’s Wishes,” event quest. You can only earn one free character during the event.

The other special reward is Ningguang’s Orchid’s Evening Gown, an alternative costume for the 4-star Geo character. The special outfit is free, but players must earn 2,400 Affluence Talismans, 2,200 Immaculate Talismans, and 1,800 Conquest Talismans during the event. Players can claim the outfit even if they don’t own Ningguang.

In the event shop players can use Affluence Talismans to unlock fireworks to use in the open world or gem fragments used for character Ascension. Conquest Talismans can be used to unlock character talent upgrade materials, including the ultra-rare Crown of Insight. In celebration of the recent collaboration between PUBG Mobile and Spider-Man: No Way Home, the citizens of New York City were treated to a unique light show starring the superhero and the Lone Survivor from PUBG.

The duo could be seen swinging, running, and jumping across many famous landmarks across the city. A few of the areas chosen for the event were featured in the most recent Spider-Man trilogy, including 5th Avenue, the Flatiron Building, Washington Square Arch, and Washington Square North.

Spider-Man was added to PUBG Mobile as part of the Version 1.8 update. The collaboration is scheduled to continue until February 14, with multiple special in-game events that let players team up with the Marvel superhero to earn unique weapons and perks in-game.

PUBG Mobile first debuted on iOS and Android devices in 2018, featuring multiple maps and modes taken from the full PUBG experience. While February is just around the corner, Steam is not quite done shining a spotlight on the hardest hitting titles that came to the platform back in 2021. Earlier today, the distribution service officially shared its December 2021 Top Releases list, highlighting Steam’s highest grossing games released last month based on their first two weeks of revenue.

According to Steam, nearly half of the games on December’s Top Release list either made their debuts into early access or graduated from it. Titles that exited early access include the open-world RPG Sands of Salzaar, which initially released on January 3, 2020, as well as the cooperative shooter GTFO, which debuted on Steam back in December of 2019. Wartales and the tactical first-person shooter Ready or Not are just two of the games now entering early access.

Steam also noted that three of the games on this list–Anvil, Chorus, and Wartales–made an appearance during its Steam Next Fests, which began in 2021 as a means to showcase upcoming releases and has essentially replaced the company’s Steam Game Festival. Following the first couple Steam Next Fest, the developers who appeared in the showcase and dished out demos of their upcoming releases reportedly saw a significant increase in game sales–making it not all that surprising that these titles went on to become some of December’s highest grossing games. The next Steam Next Fest is scheduled to take place February 21-28, and will include hundreds of new demos and developer livestreams.

In addition to the December Top Releases List, Steam also shared the top five highest grossing DLCs released in December. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker topped the list, followed by Oxygen Not Included – Spaced Out!, Planet Zoo: Europe Pack, Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, and theHunter: Call of the Wild – Mississippi Acres Preserve. Below is a full list of Steam’s top grossing games of December:

Valve has announced that the Steam Deck will launch on February 25. In a blog post, Valve confirmed that those who reserved a unit will receive a confirmation by email that day, after which they will have 72 hours to purchase the handheld or give it up to the next person.

Steam Deck units will begin shipping February 28, and more confirmation emails will go out each week. Valve also announced that impressions of the Steam Deck from members of the press will begin to show up soon, and then more widely on February 25.

The Steam Deck was originally planned to be released in December, but Valve delayed the launch, citing component and manufacturing snafus caused by global supply chain issues. There are 64GB ($399), 256GB ($529), and 512GB ($649) models, with some additional perks coming with the pricier models (such as an anti-glare etched screen on the 512GB model, and a Steam Community bundle for the top two models).

For lots more, check out GameSpot’s guide to everything you need to know about the Steam Deck. You can also watch the video above to get our first impressions of the device.

Premium gaming headsets don’t come cheap, and that’s certainly the case for most products in the EPOS catalog. However, from now until January 31, you can save $50 on the great Game One and Game Zero headsets, so now is the perfect time to upgrade your audio.

Both the EPOS Game One and Game Zero are compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, making them a perfect option for anyone who plays across multiple platforms. They also feature a two-year warranty, free shipping, and a 30-day return policy if they don’t live up to your expectations.

EPOS built the two wired headsets with a nearly identical black and red color palette, although the designs of the Game One and Game Zero are surprisingly different. However, since they’re both essentially Sennheiser gaming headsets, you can rest assured both are capable of producing impressive sounds regardless of what’s happening in-game.

Aside from the closed back and foldable earcups, the stat sheets for both headsets are pretty similar. If you’re interested in robust noise cancellation, opt for the Game Zero. If you’d rather have a lightweight design and don’t mind a bit of ambient sound leaking in, spring for the Game One. Whatever the case, make sure you check out the deals before they disappear on January 31.
