Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play shooter that has drawn comparisons to Call of Duty, no longer carries the Tom Clancy name. It is now simply XDefiant.

The reason for the change stems from Ubisoft making the decision to include “factions from games outside of the Tom Clancy universe.” While previously announced factions from games like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division will still be included, XDefiant won’t exclusively feature Tom Clancy-adjacent groups from other Ubisoft titles.

XDefiant has also received a new logo as a result. Gone is the punk-rock, graffiti-heavy logo and promotional materials from the game’s 2021 announcement, replaced by a new logo that is more easily described as slick and modern.

The rebranding of the game comes alongside Ubisoft announcing “Insider Sessions” for the shooter that will let players from the general public participate in testing sessions alongside developers. The tests will start with a small number of players on PC and eventually expand to other platforms and more participants.

New key art for Ubisoft’s XDefiant

Ubisoft says it learned a lot from the game’s previous closed testing period last year. Those who have previously signed up for those earlier XDefiant tests won’t need to sign up again and will automatically be in the potential player pool for the upcoming Insider Sessions. The test sessions will be under NDA.

While XDefiant is no longer an official “Tom Clancy” game, Ubisoft still has other free-to-play Tom Clancy shooters in the works in the form of Ghost Recon Frontline and The Division Heartland. A closed test for Ghost Recon Frontline was delayed indefinitely shortly after the game’s announcement, with Ubisoft stating it was in the game’s best interest to postpone the test in order to create “the best experience possible.”

Following a delay in February due to “current world events,” it seems like EA is ready to move forward with its launch of Apex Legends‘ mobile version. In a post on Twitter, developer Respawn shared that the game is currently available for pre-register, as well as some other key details on the upcoming title.

As with other mobile battle royale games, like Fortnite and PUBG: Battlegrounds, Apex Legends Mobile seems to be a 1:1 recreation of what players would get on consoles or PC. It’s not clear if the game’s entire cast of Legends will be present though, with only a small group being shown off in today’s trailer. That being said, a page on the game’s website promises that Apex Legends Mobile will constantly be updated with “gameplay, modes, progressions, and live events.” The game will also apparently have its own exclusive content, including “new mobile-first Legends” and maps.

Pre-registration for Apex Legends Mobile is available now, although only on Android devices. A link provided in Respawn’s announcement tweet leads to a Google Play Store page for the game, where users can pre-register for a chance at early access. However, Apex Legends Mobile will also be available on iOS devices, with its page on the App Store listing that iOS 11.0 or later iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices will be compatible with the game.

Apex Legends isn’t the only battle royale title that’s in the process of coming to mobile devices. Recently, Activision announced that its own hit title in the genre, Call of Duty: Warzone, also has a mobile version in development.

Call of Duty: Warzone‘s Season 2 update made a change to the way operators glide with a parachute, but players have discovered a bug is causing some operators to glide much farther than others. Players may want to switch to one of the recommended operators until the bug is patched.

Prior to Warzone’s second season of Vanguard’s integration, players were able to glide much farther by facing sideways, but the Season 2 patch notes revealed changes to the parachute mechanics to make every operator glide that far while facing forward. However, players have discovered that some operators still have the old parachuting mechanics, meaning they don’t go quite as far when gliding facing forward.

Reddit user “hn6” said they tested several Warzone operators, and it appears that all Vanguard operators have the updated parachute mechanics, but some of the Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War operators are bugged with the old mechanics.

This claim was further backed up by popular YouTuber JGOD, who posted a video of his test results confirming that some operators still have Warzone’s old gliding system. Modern Warfare’s Roze and Nikolai skins seem to be bugged, as well as Naga, Weaver, and Wraith from Black Ops Cold War.

Tested this Reddit Post Claims.
Looks like some operators have the older gliding system.
VG Operators work properly, but CW and MW Operators are inconsistent.
If you glide forward and it says 10.4 SPEED, it is the old way, it should say 6.6 SPEED. @RavenSoftware https://t.co/5QaYstmVvm pic.twitter.com/gi7sDLqSFm

— James – JGOD (@JGODYT) March 16, 2022

The best operators to use at the moment are Vanguard operators, but hn6 said several Modern Warfare operators seem to be updated with the new mechanic, including Stone, Sims, Golem, Grinch, Krueger, Mil-Sim, and Minotaur.

However, the best way for players to tell if their favorite operator is bugged or not is to check the operator’s glide speed, which is shown on the screen when parachuting. The best operators to use will be shown gliding at 6.6 speed, while the operators that glide at 10.4 on the old mechanics will reach the ground much faster. Players will want to continue using the old method of sideways gliding to use the bugged operators and still fly farther.

Raven Software has not acknowledged this bug yet on the Trello board of ongoing issues being investigated for Warzone, so it’s uncertain how long these operators will stay bugged. Warzone’s next big update is slated for sometime later this month, with Call of Duty Season 2’s big mid-season update.

A new patch for Gran Turismo 7 has resulted in the credits payouts of several races being reduced. Fans had previously criticized the motorsports simulator for the high price on its vehicles, and this update has counteracted one means of easily grinding for credits.

Spotted by Discord user DDM and VGC, races such as Alsace Village, Colorado Springs Lake, and several more will now reward far fewer in-game credits after the game has been updated to version 1.07. These in-game credits are used to purchase new vehicles in Gran Turismo 7, and with some cars being several times more expensive in the game than they were in its predecessor Gran Turismo Sport, players had begun farming certain tracks to earn enough credits to buy them without having to spend actual cash on credit packs.

According to DDM’s list, these tracks have seen credit payouts reduced drastically:

World Rally Challenge: Alsace Village–50,000 Credits 30,000 CreditsDirt Champions: Fisherman’s Ranch–65,000 Credits 30,000 CreditsDirt Champions: Sardegna Windmills–65,000 Credits 40,000 CreditsDirt Champions: Colorado Springs Lake–65,000 Credits 40,000 CreditsGT Cup Gr. 4: HIgh-Speed Ring–65,000 Credits 35,000 CreditsGT Cup Gr. 4: Brands Hatch GP Circuit–65,000 Credits 45,000 CreditsGT Cup Gr. 3: Spa Francorchamps– 75,000 Credits 50,000 CreditsGT Cup Gr. 3: Suzuka Circuit–75,000 Credits 50,000 CreditsGT Cup Gr. 3: Autodrome Lago Maggiore–75,000 Credits 50,000 CreditsClubman Cup Plus: High Speed Ring–35,000 Credits 25,000 CreditsClubman Cup Plus: Tsukuba Circuit–35,000 Credits 25,000 CreditsClubman Cup Plus: Goodwood–35,000 Credits 12,000 CreditsAmerican Clubman Cup 700: Special Stage Route X–30,000 Credits 15,000 CreditsAmerican FR Challenge 550: Blue Moon Bay Speedway–15,000 Credits 10,000 CreditsAmerican FR Challenge 550: Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca–15,000 Credits 10,000 CreditsAmerican FR Challenge 550: Willow Springs Raceway–15,000 Credits 10,000 Credits

Gran Turismo 7’s endgame revolves around acquiring Legend Cars, expensive versions of classic vehicles that require a significant time investment so that they can be purchased. High-value cars regularly rotate in and out of in-game shops, so players are subtly motivated to either devote time to earning credits or to take a shortcut by buying credits through microtransactions.

For example, the Porsche 356 A costs 615,000 in-game credits, the Toyota Supra GT500 ’97 will set you back 1.5 million credits, and the Ford Mark IV Race Car ’67 costs an eye-watering 4.6 million credits.

With the new race payout rates, that would mean that a player would have to win the Spa Francorchamps race a total of 92 times or spend around $45 to purchase the credits for a Ford Mark IV. Not updating Gran Turismo 7 isn’t an option either, as nearly the entire game is made unavailable when playing offline.

In our Gran Turismo 7 review in progress, Alex Goy said “It plays as close to driving a real car as you can get on a console, and much like shaving a few seconds off your commute, or playing on your favorite road in the real world, the game draws you in with challenges, physics, and luscious visuals.”

A new update for Elden Ring has made sweeping changes to the game, ranging from additional NPC quest options to balance changes for some of the more-contentious abilities. While the patch notes show it primarily improved your chances of surviving in the Lands Between, it also features two major nerfs for the already legendary Hoarfrost Stomp and Mimic Tear.

Available now across all platforms, Elden Ring v1.03 decreases the damage done by Hoarfrost Stomp and increases its casting time. The Mimic Tear also does less damage and had its “behavior pattern” adjusted.

After testing both, they’re definitely still viable for helping with those tough bosses, particularly if you have your Mimic Tear using Hoarfrost Stomp alongside you–it will indeed still cast the ability fairly often, and the frostbite effect still makes a big difference, as does the stagger you get after a hit. I was actually able to defeat a boss I had struggled with earlier and still used both abilities heavily.

Still, reducing an ability’s effectiveness like this when some of the bosses in Elden Ring are among the hardest in From Software’s entire library seems a little cruel. If enemies are going to use every trick in the book, players should be able to as well. There are more friendly faces in the game now, however, as more NPCs were actually added as part of the update.

Full patch notes are below, including several buffs for magic users, bug fixes, more NPC options, and icons to help keep track of the NPCs you’ve found. For more help, check out our Elden Ring guides hub.

Alongside their spring driver update, AMD this morning is also unveiling the first nugget of information about the next generation of their FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology. Dubbed FSR 2.0, the next generation of AMD’s upscaling technology will be taking the logical leap into adding temporal data, giving FSR more data to work with, and thus improving its ability to generate details. And, while AMD is being coy with details for today’s early teaser, at a high level this technology should put AMD much closer to competing with NVIDIA’s temporal-based DLSS 2.0 upscaling technology, as well as Intel’s forthcoming XeSS upscaling tech.

Game dev and modder WistfulHopes has released a number of mods for Guilty Gear Strive since it released last year, and recently has managed to add full characters into the game including series regular Sin Kiske and even Goku–complete with mechanics from Dragon Ball FighterZ.

While not a playable mod, or at least not yet, WistfulHopes released a video on her Twitter of Goku fighting seamlessly in Guilty Gear Strive. Where most modded characters in games like Strive are simply added as cosmetic-only skins on top of existing characters, WistfulHopes’ Goku has been built for Strive from the ground up. The modder explained in the comments that she had to build certain DBFZ mechanics from scratch, including super dash.

The modder later posted a follow-up video showing even more Goku gameplay, with added special moves.

WistfulHopes recently launched a mod that added series regular Sin Kiske into the 2021 game, becoming the first Strive mod to add a fully unique custom character. The mod includes a full custom moveset based on previous games, as well as unique animations, colors, and even a new design for the character. A beta version of the mod with added updates is also available for supporters on Ko-fi.

Other projects WistfulHopes has released include Guilty Gear Strive Plus, an expansive mod that aims to balance the game’s existing roster, as well as working in mechanics and moves from previous Guilty Gear games.
