Blizzard will share more information on Overwatch 2, including details on its next PvP beta period, on June 16.

The game’s first beta period lasted from April 26 to May 17. In a blog post, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller thanked players for their participation and states that while it can be scary for the team to put out an unfinished version of the game for players to criticize, it’s important to do so.

“But the reason we do it is important–to make a better game, and it’s our players and our community that make it possible,” Keller writes. “Tests like this are a vital part of the process of improving Overwatch. We can’t wait to take everything we’ve learned from the beta and apply it to the game, and we’re so excited to get it back in front of you.”

It’s currently unknown when Overwatch 2’s next beta will begin or whether it will be invite-only or open, but Blizzard will share details on how to gain access to the game’s next beta during its June event.

Even during its first beta, Overwatch 2 saw dramatic changes, particularly when it came to the game’s support role. Characters like Zenyatta, for example, received an all-new ability during the beta. The team is looking to further improve how it feels to play support heroes in a version of Overwatch that is more fast-paced in its new 5v5 format than the original game.

Blizzard also announced today as the start of Overwatch’s Anniversary Remix Vol. 2 in-game event, which will run until June 7 and offers players the chance to snag new variants of select legendary skins as well as event rewards for completing and winning matches. All of the original Overwatch’s cosmetics will carry over into Overwatch 2, making the Anniversary Remix event a great time to unlock skins from across the game’s various seasonal events.

Red Dead Online’s community has long campaigned for more content, spreading the hashtag #SaveRedDeadOnline in hopes of getting the dev’s attention. It appears their requests have finally been heard, or at least, have been acknowledged by the publisher Take-Two Interactive.

According to a statement given to IGN, CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that Take-Two plans to support the online servers long-term. Zelnick, however, made sure to point out that Rockstar Games will ultimately need to be the one to add more content to Red Dead Online.

“Rockstar Games talks about the updates that are coming, and we’re working on an awful lot at Rockstar Games,” Zelnick told IGN. “I’ve heard the frustration, it’s flattering that they want more content, and more will be said by Rockstar in due time.”

No new content has been promised at this time, so we’ll have to wait to see what Rockstar has planned for Red Dead Online.

Rockstar’s other online game, GTA Online, has been doing well. Rockstar still regularly updates GTA Online with new events and bonuses and recently rolled out a new optional paid subscription service. According to an earnings call, Take-Two is satisfied by the number of players who’ve signed up for a GTA+ membership.

GTA V in general is still making Rockstar a lot of money and recently passed 165 million copies sold. Red Dead Redemption II too has reached impressive numbers and recently passed 44 million sales.

Since it was officially released last month, Unreal Engine 5 has been used to create some impressive projects. The latest example comes from YouTuber and developer Enfant Terrible, who put together a sizzle reel of content that reimagines Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City within Epic’s software.

A number of artists helped create the project, with the following talents contributing to the tech demo (via IGN and 80.LV):

The artists used environment megapacks from the Epic Marketplace to recreate Night City and populated it with characters from Epic’s the MetaHumans Creator and additional work in ZBrush and VFX.

Cyberpunk 2077 was developed inside the Red Engine, CD Projekt Red is making a shift to Epic’s software for its next title as The Witcher 4 will be developed in Unreal Engine 5. Crystal Dynamics has also begun work on a new Tomb Raider in Unreal Engine 5 and Gears of War developer The Coalition recently showed off some of its latest projects developed with the software.

For another spooky example of how Epic’s game development software is capable of creating photorealistic environments, you can also check out this eerie recreation of the Etchu-Daimon train station in Japan which was created by 3D artist Lorenzo Drago.

Epic has released a short Fortnite teaser on Twitter that may be teasing the return of one of its mightiest heroes, Mecha Team Leader. In the video, static plays, a woman’s voice can be heard, and at the end–the Mecha Team Leader’s icon shows up. Just based on these clues, it’s very likely we’ll see the return of the Mecha from Season 9. Some players are also speculating that the speaker is Paradigm, because reliable leakers like Shiina have revealed the existence of a new Paradigm skin.

Back in Season 9, the Mecha defeated a huge monster called the Devourer in a very Pacific Rim-esque scenario. The Mecha was injured pretty badly in the fight, but still had enough energy to floss upon knocking out the Devourer.

The release date of Fortnite’s new event is unknown, but it should come out before the end of the current season. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 will likely end on June 3, as that is the last day of the battle pass. As for Fortnite’s Chapter 3 Season 3, Indiana Jones and Darth Vader will allegedly be making appearances.

In other Fortnite news, the shared wallet is finally on the PlayStation platform. That means players who purchase V-Bucks on PS4 and PS5 can now spend the currency on other platforms, excluding Switch. Nintendo’s hybrid console is now the only platform that doesn’t have the shared wallet.

The PlayStation 5’s newest alternate color console colors will go on sale this June, Sony has announced. Fans in the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg can buy one of the new alternate color covers beginning June 17 from the PlayStation Direct website.

The colors available then will be Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, and Nova Pink. As announced previously, the alternate color covers are available for both the disc-based and all-digital PS5 consoles, and they cost $55 each.

The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red PS5 console covers launched back in January 2022. Users can pop off the existing white cover, click the new one in place, and that’s all there is to it. Check out GameSpot’s installation guide for more on how to swap out the face plate.

In other PlayStation news, Sony just recently announced that PS5 sales have now passed 19 million units. Sony sold 2 million PS5 units in the last quarter, down from 3.3 million the year prior. Looking ahead, however, Sony is projecting significant growth for the PS5, which might be a sign that the ongoing PS5 shortages are easing up.

The Xbox and Switch platforms routinely outsell the PS5 in the US for units sold and dollars driven, and that’s no doubt related to the supply constraints. By comparison, it is much easier to find an Xbox or a Switch, for whatever reason. While Sony might be forecasting stronger PS5 sales for the current fiscal year, that doesn’t guarantee you’ll be able to walk into a store anytime soon and pick up a console, unfortunately. Check out GameSpot’s PS5 restock page to learn more.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden developer The Bearded Ladies unveiled its next tactical adventure during the 505 Games product showcase today. Miasma Chronicles looks to take the turn-based combat of Road to Eden but give it a more human touch–as in, you won’t be playing as animals, and there’s a mysterious force at the core of the story that could change humanity.

Much like Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden before it, Miasma Chronicles blends turn-based combat with real-time exploration and adventure. The cinematic teaser trailer didn’t give us a look at this in action, but if it’s anything like The Bearder Ladies’ previous games, stealthily approaching enemies benefits you when combat does break out.

Protagonist Elvis (yes, really) can utilize the titular Miasma via a special glove to cast powerful abilities, and he’s joined by a robotic brother (he’s probably adopted) as they try to learn what has happened to America in this post-apocalyptic wasteland. The studio is certainly familiar with the post-apocalypse, as Mutant Year Zero is set in a world that has seen talking animals take over in the wake of mankind’s catastrophic failures.

The Bearded Ladies and 505 Games will launch Miasma Chronicles in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, where it will be available on both the Epic Games Store and Steam. A Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden film is also in development, and it’s being made in Unreal Engine.

In today’s review, we are taking a look at the Fera 5 tower CPU cooler from SilentiumPC.

SilentiumPC’s main focus is to design and produce products with a very good price-to-performance ratio – which is to say, budget products for the mainstream market. The Fera 5 CPU cooler, in turn, embodies those ideals, with a focus on effective and quiet cooling from a cooler that sells for around €30. And while a budget cooler isn’t going to chart new territory in the CPU cooling space, as we’ll see, SilentiumPC has been able to strike a solid balance between performance and price, delivering a tower cooler that is notably quieter than typical budget coolers.

Even though the Switch is now five years old, Nintendo is confident that sales of the console are going to remain strong, sharing that a high number of Switch owners are buying second consoles. The statistic was revealed as part of the company’s financial results briefing for the end of the latest fiscal year.

During a Q&A on the company’s financial results, Nintendo was asked about the new OLED model Switch, and what ratio of sales the company expects it to make up. In response, Nintendo’s representative director and president Shuntaro Furukawa shared some interesting stats about both the OLED and Switch Lite being purchased by people who already own a Switch.

“Out of sell-through figures for the previous fiscal year, about 25% of overall hardware purchases were made by those who already owned a Nintendo Switch,” Furukawa explained. “About 30% of Nintendo Switch Lite unit sales were repeat purchases (demand for additional Nintendo Switch systems after the first) and 40% of Nintendo Switch OLED Model unit sales were repeat or replacement purchases.”

Furukawa also added that Nintendo expects the OLED model Switch to make up a larger portion of the company’s hardware sales during the next financial year, with the updated console only releasing near the end of the most recent fiscal year.
