Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon Go, will, will soon be releasing a new social app called Campfire. Niantic describes Campfire as a “new social app” that’ll encourage players to meet new people and explore new places.

Niantic has had Campfire in beta for the past few months and aims to start testing it for all players worldwide soon. It will begin rolling out to select groups of Pokemon Go players first throughout the summer.

When players open up Campfire, they’ll see a map of their surrounding area and activities from friends and other players’ locations in a specific area. On the top right, an icon will take you to your channels or game-specific map views. Players can switch between these channels as they move through different game experiences.

You’ll find the following features included in Campfire:

Nearby Communities: Easily find other players by checking out local communities around you. Open the discover page in your Communities tab to join new communities, coordinate events, and meet new players. For now, there will be a limited selection of communities available, and more will be added over time.Niantic Friends: Easily add and manage your friends across all Niantic titles.Direct & Group Messaging: Organize all your chats with friends in one place. With Direct and Group messaging, you can instantly share gyms/raids, drop your live location, post photos, and chat with your friends across any Niantic game. Sharing your location through messaging is optional and can last up to one hour before turning off automatically.Real-World Activities: Join and share official Community events, keep track of meetups with reminders, and easily invite your friends to play! Scroll around the map to discover and share

Campfire will have a ” Flare ” feature that notifies other nearby players to start an event in-game. Similar to how Pokemon Go allowed players to share raid locations with friends. Now when you’re playing a game you can see if there are other nearby players too, and send them a friend request or a direct message.

Halo Infinite is finally adding campaign co-op next month, developer 343 Industries announced today. This will begin with a early test, or “flight,” that will run starting the week of July 15.

Microsoft is only testing online campaign co-op, so fans hoping to play split-screen co-op locally still have to wait for an undetermined point in the future for that. 343 had always said it would hold a test for online campaign co-op in July, but this is the first time it’s being officially dated for the public.

Players need to sign up for the free and open Halo Insider program to get into the flight. The test is part of a separate version of Halo Infinite, so any progress you’ve already made in Halo Infinite’s campaign will not be applied in the network co-op test, nor will any progress you make in the test move with you to any existing campaign save you may have already.

Some Halo fans were bummed to learn Halo Infinite would launch without campaign co-op, and lead world designer John Mulkey said Halo Infinite’s open-world nature created “many new questions” for the team.

“How do we set up a shared world state? How do we keep the Fireteam together? How do we determine intent and mission focus? How do we prevent sequence breaking the narrative?” Mulkey said.

343 created “Area-Of-Operations” which is a maximum distance that players in a group can move apart from each other. “If you stray too far from your Fireteam, you will get a warning to return to the team. If you ignore that warning and continue, you will be killed for going AWOL and be spawned back on your nearest teammate,” 343 said.

Players will be warned when they stray 800 feet from another player and they will be killed when they hit 1000 feet. “It’s an interesting balance to strike because we want players to have the fun of fighting together but we also don’t want it to feel like the game is forcing you to be joined at the hip, so to speak,” Bender said.

“To give you an idea of that scale in-game: if two of you want to hit a really big objective like the Banished dig site, the AOO will definitely allow you to tackle an objective of that size from opposite sides with room to spare,” Bender added.

Halo Infinite’s online campaign co-op will let players retain cooperative campaign saves, or individual isolated co-op saves.

“I’ve played a number of co-op games where ‘Player 2’s progress essentially doesn’t count, and I’ve always found that disappointing,” Bender said.

All progress in Halo Infinite’s campaign, whether you play alone or in co-op, will be retained and saved to your profile. “I could be playing Solo campaign, jump into a Co-Op session for a few hours, then launch back into Solo play and all the mission progress, acquired collectibles, equipment found, achievements earned, and upgrades made in either session would be intact. Gone are the days of playing someone else’s game while earning no progress,” Mulkey said.

343 also confirmed that the co-op experience will be the same no matter what platform you’re playing on, whether that be Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or streaming. Cross-play is supported, and any combination of PCs and Xboxes for up to four players at a time will work. Additionally, all co-op games take place on dedicated servers.

From within Halo Infinite’s multiplayer menu, players can form a fireteam and select “Start Co-Op” to get started. 343 also clarified that everyone in a group plays as Master Chief.

As for upgrades and cores, these are tracked individually. If anyone in a group grabs a core in co-op, anyone in the group who didn’t already have it will get credit. Cores can be spent independently, and core counts and upgrades will apply to each individual soldier.

“This means that you get the benefits of working together, but you also have the room for self-expression with your personal playstyle,” Bender said. “If one of you wants to focus on upgrading your Drop Wall to protect yourself while your partner gets the Grappleshot melee upgrade to charge into the enemies’ ranks, you can do that.”

343 also confirmed that a new Mission Replay feature is coming to Halo Infinite alongside the online campaign co-op update. “The more open nature of Infinite poses new creative challenges that did not exist when missions were broken up into their own discreet levels. You could simply reload that level and replay it,” Mulkey said. “In Infinite, missions are locations in a much larger playspace of other mission locations. We are leaning on the Tac-Map as your gateway to interacting with individual missions.”

With the update, players can open their own tac-map and select a completed mission, and then select “Replay.” Players will be asked to select a difficulty level and if they want to activate any Skulls.

“Setting a mission to replay resets it and teleports you (and your fireteam) to the location to tackle the challenge. You are free to wander off to do something else, Fast Travel away, or resume your furthest main mission,” 343 said.

Additionally, any upgrades earned during later missions will apply to earlier missions, and Mulkey said the team is excited to see how players use later-level skills and upgrades in early missions.

In other Halo news, Halo: The Master Chief Collection might be adding microtransactions soon.

The latest update has arrived to Call of Duty: Warzone, and the June 30 patch notes reveal that lootable perks, which were recently added to the Caldera map, have now been added to Warzone’s smaller Fortune’s Keep Resurgence map. Major adjustments were also made to both weapons and attachments.

Just like on Warzone’s larger Caldera map, players can now get geared up with lootable perks on Fortune’s Keep. These lootable perks can be randomly obtained from ground loot and opening supply boxes. They are legendary rarity, but players can equip one of each perk type found. There is no perk limit here, but only one of each perk type can be equipped per match.

For the weapon balancing, Warzone’s most popular the NZ-41 assault rifle received a slight nerf, decreasing the weapon’s lower torso damage multiplier from 1.1 down to 1.0. Additionally, two of the NZ-41’s attachments received major nerfs. The Orb Weaver 360mm BC barrel and the 6.5mm Sakura 50 Round Mags magazine attachment received major decreases to recoil control.

Season 4’s new UGM-8 light machine gun also got nerfed in the update. The weapon’s muzzle velocity has been decreased by 4%, while several attachments were also nerfed. This included damage reductions for the commonly used Romuald 560mm DA barrel attachment, which previously made the LMG feel like a steady laser beam across the map.

A change also comes to Vanguard’s sniper class. The muzzle velocity has been increased by 4% for Vanguard’s 3-Line Rifle, Kar98k, and Type 99 sniper rifles.

Additionally, the update brings a few bug fixes to Warzone. The patch notes detail fixes for an issue that previously caused performance drops while doing the Black Market Supply Run Contracts, and a bug that prevented players from purchasing a Loadout at the start of a private match.

Season 4 of Warzone recently added the new Fortune’s Keep map, which includes several new Easter eggs to discover. The Caldera map also received major landscape changes and a decrease of foliage for this new season.

The full patch notes can be found below, as shared by Raven Software.

The last day of June yields quite the interesting Wordle answer. If you followed our guide on the best starting words to use in Wordle, then you might have had a large portion of the correct word within a couple of guesses. However, guessing anything beyond that can be quite difficult, especially if you’re the type of person to plug in random letters and hit Enter to see if they work (spoiler alert, that’s exactly what I did and it almost cost me).

As I spoiled above, I got the last four letters all correct on my second guess. After that, though, I couldn’t seem to figure out a solid guess so I just started typing in random letters in the first slot and hitting Enter to see if they were right. This got me down to my sixth and final guess when I finally thought of the only possible answer. The June 30 Wordle is quite tricky, so we’ve laid out some hints and even the final answer below to ensure that this answer doesn’t stop your streak in its tracks.

Today’s Wordle Answer – June 30, 2022

First things first, we’ll start off with a couple of hints that should put you closer to guessing the right answer. If the hints aren’t enough to push you over the hump, we’ve also given the full answer to the June 30 Wordle further down.

Hint 1: A popular Twitch streamer goes by this name. This streamer was an original member of the organization OpTic Gaming, where they mainly played Call of Duty, as well as a regular host on Machinima’s YouTube channel in its hay day. Hint 2: This word uses a double letter at the front and end.

For any non-gamers out there, that first hint likely wasn’t that helpful. However, knowing there is a double letter in the word should be quite useful for those who might have a large portion of the word spelled out. If neither of the hints did it for you, though, here’s the full answer… “hutch.” The double letter definitely got me this time around but if you’ve made it this far in the guide, then it didn’t prevent you from continuing your Wordle streak. Check back tomorrow for another Wordle guide before we close up shop for the week.

Bethesda has dropped a new trailer for Redfall, the Arkane Austin-developed game where players are trapped on an island that’s under siege from an army of vampires and their cultists. The gameplay footage is brief, but you can catch a glimpse of several island areas teeming with supernatural threats, gadgets that weaponize UV light, and the four characters who wield unique skills in Redfall’s world.

If you missed Redfall’s gameplay debut at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase this month, the game’s roster of heroes includes ace marksman Jacob Boyer, genius combat engineer Remi De La Rosa, Cryptid hunter Devinder Crousley, and telekinetic powerhouse Layla Ellison.

You can also spot a quick look Devinder’s skill tree in the trailer, as well as a peek at the inventory from which players can equip weapons.

Some of the vampire-hunting tools of the trade include stake-launching air cannons, regular assault rifles, and handguns, each with their own varying levels of rarity and effectiveness. In addition to the multiplayer co-op action, Redfall also appears to be inspired by other loot-shooters such as Destiny 2 and Borderlands 3.

“After talking with Arkane Austin studio director Harvey Smith and Redfall co-creative director Ricardo Bare, I came away thinking Redfall looks and sounds more like Arkane Austin’s take on a Borderlands-like game, not Left 4 Dead,” Jordan Ramee wrote in GameSpot’s Redfall preview.

Currently slated for release in the first half of 2023, Redfall will launch for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Fire Emblem Heroes has become Nintendo’s top-grossing mobile title, as new data has shown that it has surpassed $1 billion in lifetime player spending globally across the App Store and Google Play.

According to analyst firm Sensor Tower, the mobile RPG has generated more revenue in Q1 2022–the Feh subscription pass likely helped here–than Nintendo’s other mobile titles Dr. Mario World and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. It’s also the first mobile game from Nintendo to reach that milestone and its closest internal competitor is Mario Kart Tour, which has lifetime mobile revenue of $282 million so far. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp takes the #3 spot with $281.6 million.

Fire Emblem Heroes launched in 2017.

Fire Emblem Heroes is the fourth most-downloaded title when compared to Nintendo’s other mobile games at 17.8 million downloads in comparison to Super Mario’s top spot position of 310.7 million downloads. Mario Kart Tour and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp have been downloaded 227.2 million and 65.4 million times respectively.

Japan has proven to be Fire Emblem Heroes’ most lucrative market with 54% of total player spending, while the US is in second place with 32.4% of revenue generated for the game. The App Store and Google Play also share an even split of the downloads, accounting for roughly 50% each.

Nintendo’s mobile games have generated more than $1.8 billion from player spending worldwide, combined. Fire Emblem Heroes is now the most successful Fire Emblem game of all time according to these new figures.

The level of competition in the desktop CPU market has rarely been as intensive as it has been over the last couple of years. When AMD brought its Ryzen processors to market, it forced Intel to reply, and both have consistently battled in multiple areas, including core count, IPC performance, frequency, and ultimate performance. The constant race to improve products, stay ahead of the competition, and meet customers’ changing needs has also sent the two companies off of the beaten paths at times, developing even wilder technologies in search of that competitive edge.

In the case of AMD, one such development effort has culminated with 3D V-Cache packaging technology, which stacks a layer of L3 cache on top of the existing CCD’s L3 cache. Owing to the fact that while additional cache is beneficial to performance, large quantities of SRAM are, well, large, AMD has been working on how to place more L3 cache on a CPU chiplet without blowing out the die size altogether. The end result of that has been the stacked V-Cache technology, which allows the additional cache to be separately fabbed and then carefully placed on top of a chip to be used as part of a processor.

For the consumer market, AMD’s first V-Cache equipped product is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Pitched as the fastest gaming processor on the market today, AMD’s unique chip offers eight cores/sixteen threads of processing power, and a whopping 96 MB of L3 cache onboard. Essentially building on top of the already established Ryzen 7 5800X processor, the aim from AMD is that the additional L3 cache on the 5800X3D will take gaming performance to the next level – all for around $100 more than the 5800X.

With AMD’s new gaming chip in hand, we’ve put the Ryzen 7 5800X3D through CPU suite and gaming tests to see if it is as good as AMD claims it is.
