Cloud storage is a convenient method for saving and accessing files on any device, anywhere in the world. But cloud storage can also be expensive. After using up your free 15GB of storage on Google Drive, you can increase your limit via a subscription plan. While $20 per year for 100GB isn’t too bad, that price can balloon if you need an ample amount of space. For instance, a 10TB storage plan costs $100 per month.

Thankfully, there are far more affordable options out there if you know where to look, and right now you can get a 10TB storage plan for Degoo Premium for only $80 with promo code SAVE20NOW. The best part of this deal? It’s a lifetime plan, so you pay the fee once and the storage is yours forever.

The discount is available via GameSpot Deals and is available until the end of the week. Degoo has an easy-to-use interface and is especially ideal for backing up photos. You can access Degoo on your desktop computer or laptop as well as mobile devices.

Degoo supports unlimited devices, but it’s worth noting that it has a 1GB file size limit. Your files are backed up each time you upload and secured with 256-bit AES encryption.

Admittedly, 10TB is a lot of storage space. It’s probably too much for many people. If you know you won’t need nearly that much space, you can opt for a smaller storage limit. Right now you can get 1TB of storage for $50, 2TB for $60, and 3TB for $70. The SAVE20NOW promo code only works with the 10TB tier, though, so you are getting the best bang for your buck with the largest storage capacity.

Friday ‘Nite is a weekly Fortnite column in which Mark Delaney takes a closer look at current events in the wide world of Fortnite, with a special emphasis on the game’s plot, characters, and lore.

It’s almost August. At this time last year, the Fortnite Ariana Grande Rift Tour was pretty much already a publicly known fact thanks to leaks from one heck of a leaker. By August 1, 2021, we had the complete Rift Tour schedule straight from Epic Games. On similar schedules in years past, we’d also seen Travis Scott and Marshmello take the virtual stage in Epic’s burgeoning metaverse.

But if you’re waiting for a Fortnite concert for Summer 2022, as of right now, nothing is confirmed–it’s not even concretely leaked yet, unlike last year’s show. Instead, what we have are several whispers and maybe an explanation as to why a concert, if it’s happening at all, is coming a bit later this year. Rounding up rumors pertaining to performers such as Billie Eilish, Juice Wrld, and Lady Gaga, here’s everything we know so far about a Fortnite Summer 2022 concert.

Fortnite concert 2022 leaks and rumors

Everything we know about a Fortnite concert for this summer comes down to a wide variety of different leaks and rumors. They can’t really be discussed in one breath because they have different points of origin, so let’s break down the three major rumors one at a time, in the order in which they appeared online.

Why it might be Lady Gaga

A Lady Gaga Fortnite concert is actually the oldest of the rumors, dating back to last spring when the Epic vs. Apple court battle was happening. In the discovery phase, onlookers were given a remarkable number of revelations from both sides of the lawsuit. On the Epic side, we learned a ton about future Fortnite plans, including the NBA crossover, the LeBron James skin, as well as a few music collabs mentioned by name: Ariana Grande, J Balvin, and Lady Gaga.

We’ve already seen both Grande and Balvin come to the game as skins–plus Grande got her magical Rift Tour, of course, so it stands to reason that Gaga’s time is coming soon.

Why it might not be Lady Gaga

While Ariana Grande got a concert and an in-game skin, J Balvin didn’t get the same level of fanfare. An emote that plays one of his hits is cool, but that’s the extent of his crossover with Fortnite. We can then reasonably deduce that Lady Gaga might only get something like a skin too, not a full concert event. Lady Gaga is also more of a millennial icon, whereas Fortnite primarily targets Gen Z.

Why it might be Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is probably the favorite among fans–or at least the one most fans are wishing for. Younger than Gaga and totally beloved by the right age group, Billie is also one of the world’s biggest artists currently and suits Epic’s pursuit of artists on or above the level of those who came before her. Donald Mustard, Epic CCO and frequent teaser online, also shared a photo from a Billie Eilish concert earlier this year. Mustard doesn’t tweet many things that aren’t hints of some kind, so it’s worth noting.

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? pic.twitter.com/FQ0nWkROoZ

— Donald Mustard (@DonaldMustard) March 22, 2022

Why it might not be Billie Eilish

To be fair, Mustard was taking his daughters to the Billie show, and he’s allowed to share a picture from the crowd. So I may be reading into things too much, but I don’t lose sight of that. Another reason to suspect Billie may not be the focus of this year’s concert: Ariana Grande’s Rift Tour was a ton of fun, but Epic never shared attendance numbers like it did with the 2020 Travis Scott Astronomical show. Because companies are so often obsessed with unrelenting growth, Epic may have elected to keep the Rift Tour totals private if they fell below Scott’s show.

If that’s the case, it could be because Ariana tends to be more of a women and non-male icon, whereas the Fortnite community as a whole is made up of many more young boys and men, according to a 2021 demographics study. If Epic wants the next Fortnite concert to get back to breaking records, it may look to draw in another performer that is better attuned to the game’s player base.

Why it might be Juice Wrld

The late rapper Juice Wrld was very popular before his untimely death in 2019, and an HBO documentary about the young artist put him on even more people’s radar. We’d not expect Epic to produce an in-game concert with a dead person, except that the rapper’s manager retweeted the Season 3 launch trailer and has since spoken of a possible collaboration more than once, including a time where he suggested he’d get in trouble with Epic if he said anything more on the subject.

Because Fortnite concerts involve pre-recorded versions of songs, there’s no reason Juice Wrld’s absence would present much of a problem, so long as his rights holders work on the deal all the same.

Why it might not be Juice Wrld

Well, isn’t it obvious? Given that Juice Wrld is deceased, it may be an awkward sell for Epic. Does the loosey-goosey battle royale game known famous for dancing bananas want to jump into the complicated debate over using a dead person’s likeness? Perhaps Epic sees the opportunity to be a trailblazer, but the company is in North Carolina, not Silicon Valley, so one has to wonder if they’re not the same brand of tech evangelists we may be thinking of.

After the mixed reviews of an elaborate stage projection of Tupac, often mistakenly called a hologram, putting on a show in 2012, is Epic willing to test its goodwill on a concert from a rapper who died much too young?

If not them, then who?

Fortnite often suffers more leaks than the Titanic, so it doesn’t seem likely that the real concert would still be under wraps at Epic this late in the summer, at least not if it’s coming in August. But then again, there’s no guarantee it will come in August–or at all. The summer schedule is unfolding later this year, with the summer event beginning several weeks after it normally would.

Does that mean a concert was also pushed back by a few weeks? It could, but given the relative quiet surrounding the general idea of a Fortnite Summer concert in 2022, perhaps it’s most likely that there’s no such concert at all.

Still, if I was to assume a concert is happening but it’s none of those mentioned above, who else fits the bill? I have two guesses: The Weeknd or a K-pop group like BTS–both of whom are already in the game via Icon Series emotes. They’re massive on a scale that competes with past Fortnite concerts–arguably, either one would raise the bar given their popularity.

For now, all we can do is wait, but if we still know nothing a few days from now, I’m prepared to jump on the train of thought that Fortnite performers are resting their virtual voices this summer.

Hot Drop is GameSpot’s weekly Apex Legends column, in which Jordan Ramée takes a closer look at Respawn’s battle royale to provide additional insight into the game’s evolution, as well as dive deeper into its episodic storytelling and characters.

Apex Legends Season 14 is fast approaching, scheduled to launch on August 9, and add Xiomara “Vantage” Contreras to the playable roster. It confirms my long-held theory that Vantage would be the next playable character after Newcastle. Seeing her added to the Apex Games should make me happy–I was right after all. But if I’m being honest, I now wish I had been wrong. As cool as Vantage seems, I’ve since discovered there’s someone far more interesting: her mom.

As seen in Stories from the Outlands: Survive, Vantage has been stranded on the planet Pàgos for her entire life, trapped in the snowy tundra alongside her mother, Xenia Contreras. Though Vantage is led to believe that she and her mother are both native to Pàgos, her trip into the bowls of a crashed ship called the G.D.S. Vantage unveils a startling secret: Xenia was a prisoner aboard the vessel, with G.D.S. standing for Gaean Detention Ship.

Xenia taught her daughter to shoot, implying that both may be expert sharpshooters.

Ignoring, for a moment, that with Xenia and Vantage being Cuban-American, the Apex Legends team has written yet another Latina character to be a criminal–a too long-standing issue in video games, especially when it comes to hero shooters–Xenia is (so far) just a more interesting character than her daughter.

As Respawn describes in a press release, Xenia is a “wrongfully-convicted criminal.” That’s not all that big a deal when it comes to Apex Legends–we already have legends who were falsely accused for something, like Crypto and Seer. But Respawn has noticeably gone out of its way to not specify what Xenia was convicted of.

Every other criminal in Apex Legends’ lore has had their crimes–whether they actually committed them or not–revealed pretty much immediately. And there’s some heinous stuff in there between Caustic willingly gassing an entire room of scientists to test some pesticide, Revenant dropping a father down an elevator shaft so that he’d crumple into a bloody mess in front of his daughter, and Ash leaving a colleague to rot in a black hole for 88 years just to make a quick buck. There are a lot of bad people in Apex Legends’ lore.

And yet, Respawn doesn’t want us to know why people think Xenia is among them. What’s so detestable about Xenia’s crime that we’ve seen her in two trailers already (which is wild for what’s currently amounting to be a side character), and the only hint as to the conviction’s ramifications is Vantage asking her mother–in the Season 14 launch trailer–about it, saying, “Is…is it true? Did you do the things they said?” with a face that’s been twisted with pain, repulsion, and fear.

Vantage seems almost scared when asking her mother whether she’s guilty of what she’s been convicted of.

There’s clearly something there, something that Respawn wants to keep hidden for now. Already, my mind is racing through possibilities–many of which seem too far-fetched, but there are a few that could be promising.

My favorite theory has to do with where Xenia was imprisoned. Since Xenia was held on a Gaean ship, does her crime have any connection to Caustic, Crypto, or Rampart, all of whom also call Gaea home? There’s a lot of interesting potential there, especially if Xania’s story somehow links back to Rampart. Could Xenia have some sort of connection to Big Sister, the masked gang leader seen in Stories from the Outlands: The Endorsement, which first introduced us to Rampart? Though Xenia was seemingly wounded on Pàgos long after the events of The Endorsement, it is striking that her scratched-out eye now makes her face mirror the mask worn by Big Sister, perhaps implying some sort of unseen narrative connection. I think it’s safe to say that it’s impossible that Xenia is Big Sister–how could she have been at Rampart’s shop on Gaea and stuck on Pàgos at the same time–but the similarities in their two “faces” is hard to ignore.

There definitely different people, but it feels like there may be a narrative connection between Xenia and Big Sister, as the former’s face mirrors the latter’s mask.

I could very well be wrong about that, obviously, but the fact remains that Xenia has a history that’s interesting and mysterious and unknown and full of potential–there’s a lot we don’t know, and I personally want to figure it out. I’m not convinced the same can be said for her daughter, who can seemingly be summed up as, “a girl who was born in a snowy wilderness and has never met people beyond her mother before.” Granted, you can make some fun storylines with that–it’s like a kid who’s home schooled being put into public school for the first time as a high school senior–but there’s not much in the way of mystery or intrigue there. Vantage’s past doesn’t create a character who I desperately want to get to know.

And it’s not just the past–Xenia’s story has more potential to go in interesting directions in the future, too. As seen in the Apex Legends Season 14 launch trailer, she’s being held in the same detention facility as Mad Maggie, who’s currently working with Lifeline to bring down Torres Silva, Octane‘s grandfather, and the Syndicate, the governing body of the Outlands and overseer to the Apex Games. Could future seasons see an alliance between Xenia and Maggie?

Again, I could be totally off base there, but there’s at least that possibility of something interesting happening, and that’s something that Vantage’s future seems to lack. Even if we don’t know what it was, Vantage already knows about her mother’s crimes so there’s no mystery for her to solve there. And we know she won’t stop competing in the games to raise awareness for the injustice of her mother’s imprisonment because no legend’s story can develop to the point that they leave the games and thus would need to be removed from Apex Legends’ playable roster. The most intriguing thing to look forward to about Vantage–so far anyway–is seeing her fish-out-of-water storyline play out, though I suspect it will be reminiscent of Bloodhound‘s tales of their early life, given they were also a person largely secluded from the outside world who eventually joined the Apex Games.

Unless it was a hallucination, there’s also the fact that Xenia pulled off some vampire s**t and summoned an army of bats. That was wild.

Xenia is just being set up as the far more interesting character. And I have to believe that she’ll develop into someone meaningful for Apex Legends’ story because I refuse to think that Respawn hired someone like Krizia Bajos–who’s lent her superb voice acting chops to shows like Arcane (Ximena Talis) and Carmen Sandiego (Lupe Peligro), as well as games like League of Legends (Akali), Batman: The Telltale Series (Renee Montoya), Legends of Runeterra (Silent Shadowseer), Eliza (Nora), and Prey (Mariana Arias)–to voice some character we’re never going to hear from again. Bajos is amazing–she’s the caliber of actor that Respawn typically brings on to voice a legend, not a one-and-done character. And the possibility of Xenia pulling an Ash or Maggie or Newcastle and going from side character to playable legend is far more exciting than anything I’ve gotten out of Vantage’s characterization so far (Natalie Cañizares‘ delivery for Vantage is also stellar–all I’m saying is that Bajos is similarly talented).

And let me be clear: Vantage’s abilities seem really cool and I love her bat-like companion, Echo. But being a cool legend to play does not an interesting character make, and I worry that Vantage is already a bit overshadowed by her mother. Everything that’s interesting about Vantage from a lore perspective ties back to Xenia: Vantage grew up secluded from the outside world because her mom was a criminal in hiding, Vantage joined the Apex Games in order to bring awareness to her mother’s wrongful conviction, and Vantage’s big secret is hiding whatever her mom is accused of doing.

Vantage seems like a cool character to play, with abilities geared toward long-range combat with sniper rifles.

It’s hard to grow invested in a character when the things that are most interesting about them are how their story is tied to the mysteries of another character. It’s not like Loba‘s past with Revenant was the only interesting thing about her at launch–she accidentally destroyed Skull Town and then was hired by the Syndicate to travel to another dimension for some mysterious heist. And despite Newcastle being related to Bangalore, he had a story of his own too–he was secretly taking the place of the original Newcastle and joined the Apex Games to make enough money to pay back a gang threatening his hometown and family. Every previous legend was able to stand on their own two feet as someone who’s interesting–the main character of their own personal story.

But not Vantage. Ahead of the launch of Season 14, she feels like a side character in her mother’s story, a channel by which fans can learn more Xania lore. She doesn’t have a story of her own. I assume Respawn has written one for her and we’ll learn about it over the course of Season 14’s Quest, but this is the first time I’ve ever gone into a new season where I wasn’t excited to play as the new character and learn all I could about them because Respawn has done too good a job of making another new face far more interesting.

It’s Friday but that doesn’t stop this Wordle train. We’re back to end the week with another Wordle guide, and it’s once again a fairly easy word to guess. After the tumultuous last couple of weeks, it’s refreshing to see some common answers in back-to-back days. However, if players’ starting word isn’t strong or if they’re simply struggling to come up with guesses, then we have you covered.

For starters, I managed to get this word in two guesses thanks to my starting word. I had three letters in the right spot immediately and then plugged in one of the only words I could think of for the second guess. While I was certainly fortunate to get letters so quickly, this answer can definitely trip players up based on its structure. The Wordle on July 29 is a common word, but the way it’s structured is not, which is why we’ve laid out some tips and the full answer below.

Today’s Wordle Answer – July 29, 2022

We’ll begin with a couple of hints that players can use to get closer to guessing the right answer. Hopefully, the tips allow players to get the Wordle within six guesses but if they don’t, players can see the full answer further down.

Hint 1: This word describes gamers that just lost a gunfight in Warzone or a match in League of Legends. Hint 2: This word is featured in a song title that was released by Drake in 2018

If those hints weren’t especially helpful for Wordle players, then fear not, as we also have the full answer ready and waiting. The answer to the July 29 Wordle is… “upset.” Any player that doesn’t guess that correctly will certainly see the irony in how they might feel after seeing the answer. We’ll be taking a break from the Wordle guides for the weekend but we’re back at it again starting on Monday.

Steam has a new set of rules for video games sold on its platform, as key art will no longer be allowed to display review scores or award logos from September 1. In an effort to make games on its marketplace clear and as readable for customers, video game key art needs to promote the game and not its critical reception.

There are multiple other reasons for this shift, which range from Steam admitting that its previous rules were vague to the fact that a game’s dedicated Steam page will still be allowed to show off review scores and awards handed out to it.

Another reason for the change is that some capsules include review scores that are no longer accurate, some accolades can be misleading, and the default use of English isolates much of the Steam audience that doesn’t speak the language.

“Press review quotes, press review scores, and special awards each have dedicated spaces on Steam store pages where it can be presented consistently and where customers can expect to find that information,” Steam explained on its blog.

In short, if a game’s key art includes review scores, award names, discount marketing copy, text or imagery promoting a different product, or other miscellaneous text, then those developers will need to draft updated key art for the game capsule that is displayed on Steam. For those games that have seasonal events and updates, they’ll need to use artwork overrides which essentially apply a new layer over the existing image.

There’s a long list of video game covers out there that have used every pixel of space possible to cram in some marketing copy in an attempt to appeal to fans. Some of the most notable examples include Batman: Arkham City’s Game of the Year Edition that made a great cover a cluttered mess, Uncharted 2 pitting Nathan Drake against a discount, and a boot full of Gears of War 3 beta in Bulletstorm’s Epic Edition cover.

Damn, those review scores got hands

The Killzone 3 cover with the E3 award logo on it, on the other hand, is still superb. For reasons.

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Village will be getting a free accessibility update in October. The update will be released alongside the launch of the game’s Winters’ Expansion DLC and Gold Edition.

The new accessibility options that will be added include highly requested subtitle changes, which will allow players to adjust the size and color, as well as toggle the background on and off. The names of characters will also be available to display in story mode to indict who is speaking, and closed captions will be introduced. A permanent reticle option is getting added too. Although this is a small update, the accessibility features being added will no doubt make a big difference to the player experience.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and the Winters’ Expansion DLC are both set to release on October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The DLC will not only have a new third-person camera mode, but it will also come with a new Mercenaries update featuring Lady Dimitrescu, Karl Heisenberg, and Chris Redfield, and two new stages.

In terms of new story content, the Winters’ Expansion will include a new chapter called Shadow of Rose, which picks up 16 years after the events of Village. The player will take the role of protagonist Ethan’s daughter, Rose, who returns to the titular town while also grappling with her new powers.

Resident Evil Re: Verse, the PvP multiplayer deathmatch game featuring characters from across the franchise, is also expected to release on the same date. It was originally supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil Village last year but was subsequently delayed.

As far as top-tier CPU SKUs go, Intel’s Core i9-12900KS processor sits in noticeably sharp In contrast to the launch of AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor with 96 MB of 3D V-Cache. Whereas AMD’s over-the-top chip was positioned as the world’s fastest gaming processor, for their fastest chip, Intel has kept their focus on trying to beat the competition across the board and across every workload.

As the final 12th Generation Core (Alder Lake) desktop offering from Intel, the Core i9-12900KS is unambiguously designed to be the powerful one. It’s a “special edition” processor, meaning that it’s low-volume, high-priced chip aimed at customers who need or want the fastest thing possible, damn the price or the power consumption.

It’s a strategy that Intel has employed a couple of times now – most notably with the Coffee Lake-generation i9-9900KS – and which has been relatively successful for Intel. And to be sure, the market for such a top-end chip is rather small, but the overall mindshare impact of having the fastest chip on the market is huge. So, with Intel looking to put some distance between itself and AMD’s successful Ryzen 5000 family of chips, Intel has put together what is meant to be the final (and fastest) word in Alder Lake CPU performance, shipping a chip with peak (turbo) clockspeeds ramped up to 5.5GHz for its all-important performance cores.

For today’s review we’re putting Alder Lake’s fastest to the test, both against Intel’s other chips and AMD’s flagships. Does this clockspeed-boosted 12900K stand out from the crowd? And are the tradeoffs involved in hitting 5.5GHz worth it for what Intel is positioning as the fastest processor in the world? Let’s find out.
