Playing older consoles on new TVs can be a hassle for many reasons, but one of the worst is that they don’t look good. Even newer devices that max out at HD resolutions like the Nintendo Switch will look fuzzy on large 4K or 1440p displays, and retro consoles will often be too blurry to play (if they can even connect to the TV in the first place).

However, an HDMI upscaler like Marseille’s mClassic can solve all these problems.

You’d normally spend $99 for the mClassic, but it’s on sale for just $79 during Prime Day. That’s a pretty good deal for this simple dongle that can make your old and under-powered gaming devices look better.

While the mClassic is a cool accessory for anyone playing games on newer displays, no device is perfect, and upscalers and video converters may slightly distort your game’s visuals. Color accuracy and washed out contrast are the most common issues, but the average player probably won’t notice these nitpicks, and it’s rarely bad enough to ruin the experience. Sure, nothing beats playing older devices on a CRT, but the mClassic is a great option for playing on your living room TV.

If you’re looking to upgrade your television but aren’t looking forward to waiting until Black Friday, you’ll be glad to know Amazon Prime Day has a few excellent deals. Among them is a pretty substantial discount on Samsung’s line of QLED televisions. While these TVs are not quite the same as OLED televisions, they are a step up from your traditional LCD screens.

In addition to the Q80A, Samsung also has deals on its QN90A, Q90T, and Frame series televisions. Each of these features a QLED anti-glare screen and plenty of other great features as well. While the Q80A might offer the steepest discount, each one boasts hundreds of dollars in savings and hundreds of four- and five-star reviews.

To take advantage of these Tv’s capabilities to play games in 4K at 120Hz, you do need a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or a powerful PC in addition to a game that supports it.

Looking for more great deals? You’re in luck, as Amazon Prime Day is finally upon us. Be sure to check out our list of the best Prime Day deals as well as what competitors like Best Buy are up to.

Publisher IMGN.PRO and developer Black Cube Games revealed that Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated Iranian-American actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is lending her voice to The Tale of Bistun. She portrayed Admiral Shala’Raan vas Tonbay in both Mass Effect 2 and 3. You can check her out in the newly revealed launch trailer below.

“Aghdashloo has had quite a storied career across multiple media, with starring roles in film, television, and video games. Aghdashloo has also appeared in Destiny 2 and The Expanse.

Black Cube Games team lead Amin Shahidi said, “We’re also incredibly honored to have such a talented cast — including Shohreh Aghdashloo and Marc Thompson — help us bring the world of The Tale of Bistun to life. We hope you all have a great time!” Thompson voices the omniscient narrator and has appeared in other properties like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars: Visions.

The Tale of Bistun follows an amnesiac stone carver as he awakens to a blight devouring Mount Bistun. He’ll traverse the real world and the Revelations Realm, a mysterious place filled with forgotten memories, to look for answers. New information about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s various perks, field upgrades, killstreaks, and game modes have seemingly been leaked on Twitter, complete with their corresponding icons.

The leaks come via a Twitter user going by the name Reality, who has previously leaked images of Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps and images that are reportedly from Treyarch’s yet-unnamed 2024 Call of Duty title. Many of the images Reality has shared have been removed via DMCA requests. However, a Resetera user has compiled a list of all the recent leaks.

With all of this information, it’s important to note that all of this is reportedly from an early build of the game and could be subject to change, so take everything with a grain of salt. That being said, according to Reality, Modern Warfare 2 will include the follow perks, many of which have appeared in previous Call of Duty titles (along with a few new ones like Overwatch, Overcharge, Survivor, and Pitcher):

The number of killstreaks leaked so far is much smaller than many previous Call of Duty titles, so perhaps this isn’t a complete list. But as of now, players can expect to see:

UAVFuel BombSmoke AirdropThermobaric StrikeCluster Spike

Reality has also listed a number of field upgrades players will be able to use. They are:

As for modes, all the classics seem to be included in Modern Warfare 2, with a few new additions. Nothing is yet known about the new All or Nothing mode, for example, but the complete list is below:

This isn’t the first leak regarding Modern Warfare 2, and it probably won’t be the last. Previous leaks have revealed a yet-unannounced mode called DMZ that sounds like it will launch as part of Modern Warfare 2 and will share the same map with the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

Amazon Prime Day 2022 has begun, and if you’re looking for a new TV, the online retailer has a number of offers to consider, one of which is the TCL 65-inch 6-Series 4K set for $800 off its list price.

The TV normally goes for around $1,000, but Amazon is selling it now for $700. This is a 2021 model, but GameSpot sister site CNET said it is among the best 4K sets you can buy in 2022.

It has a THX mode for gaming that CNET’s review said makes it a top choice for gaming for how it reduces input lag, has solid response time, and doesn’t easily get image smearing problems. The set also supports Dolby Vision. Users may also be interested to know it supports eARC but not have the full HDMI 2.1 feature suite, in case that matters to you.

You can also check out GameSpot’s Amazon Prime Day Deals hub for more gaming deals at Amazon and other stores, like Hyrule Warriors for $30, The Quarry for $40, and a 1TB PS5 SSD for $110. Apple users may also be interested in this nice deal on an Apple TV 4K.

Supermassive Games, the British game developer behind Until Dawn and The Quarry more recently, has been sold. Nordisk Games–which already owns Just Cause studio Avalanche–has acquired 100% ownership of Supermassive. Nordisk previously held a 30.7% stake in Supermassive.

Supermassive has more than 300 developers, and the press release announcing the buyout made no mention of any staffing changes, apart from plans to grow. Supermassive CEO Pete Samuels said, “We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games and Nordisk Games ownership only enhances that. I’m hugely excited about where the security offered by this partnership, and continued access to the expertise within Nordisk Games, will take us next.”

In addition to Avalanche, Nordisk Games owns or has minority investments in other gaming companies such as Star Stable Entertainment, Flashbulb Games, Nitro Games, and MercurySteam.

Financial terms of Nordisk’s buyout of Supermassive were not disclosed.

The deal is just the latest in the gaming space. 2022 is expected to be a massive year for mergers and acquisitions in the gaming space, with some projections saying deals to together total $150 billion.

2022 began with Take-Two announcing plans to buy Zynga for $12.7 billion, which at the time was the biggest buyout in the history of video games. A month after, Microsoft announced it would purchase Activision Blizzard for $75 billion. Other deals in 2022 have included Sony proposing to buy Bungie for $3.6 billion and Embracer buying Tomb Raider and other franchises from Square Enix for $300 million.

PlayStation games and the popular DualSense controller might be the most enticing Prime Day deals for PS5 owners, but you’ll also find the official DualSense Charging Station on sale for a great low price–and you don’t even have to be a Prime member to take advantage of this deal. If you’re looking to get rid of those USB-C cables and give your gamepads a home when not in use, consider heading over to Amazon and cashing in on the deal.

We found the charging station to be “super convenient” when it launched in 2020, and that continues to hold true today. There are several cheaper alternatives on the market, but it’s hard to beat the official dock at this great new price.
