Another classic RPG may be getting a remake soon, as a listing for Tactics Ogre Reborn has appeared on the backend of the PlayStation Network with a November 11 launch date.

The game’s listing–spotted by PSDeals.net–includes multiple apparent pieces of information about the remake, which will bring the 2011 PSP port Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together to PS4 and PS5. According to the listing, the game will feature updated visuals, audio, and even a few gameplay tweaks.

One of the many magic attacks players can use in Tactics Ogre.

Most notably among the gameplay changes is an updated class system, which shifts from class-based management to a unit-by-unit format, which will allow for “endless combinations of classes, equipment, skills, and magic.” Other changes apparently coming include an auto-save feature, a quicker battle system, and “a complete overhaul of the controls and UI.”

Tactics Ogre is an isometric strategy RPG in which players control squads of multiple warriors on a grid-based battlefield. The game features a branching story dependent on player choice, as well as 60 playable different job classes to find throughout the adventure.

Tactics Ogre was first released for the Super Nintendo in 1995 before being ported to the Sega Saturn and PlayStation in 1996 and 1997 respectively. The PSP remaster, Let Us Cling Together, launched in February 2011.

Microsoft has cut the boot time of the Xbox Series X|S consoles in half, as members of the Xbox Insider test program have noticed. As spotted by The Verge, the consoles now go from a cold boot to active in around five seconds thanks to a shorter bootup animation sequence.

As confirmed by director of Xbox integrated marketing Josh Munsee, the company created the shorter boot-up animation sequence to reduce the overall startup time. Usually, an Xbox Series X|S will need around 10 seconds to fully load, which is still an impressive figure given that the Quick Resume function can store several games in a standby state.

Can confirm – worked with @harrisonhoffman and @jakerose27 to create a shorter boot up animation (~4s) from the original boot up animation (~9s), helping to reduce the overall startup time.

— Josh Munsee (@joshmunsee) July 23, 2022

When it rolls out, this boot-up will only benefit those consoles set to Energy Saver mode when it rolls out eventually. The new default state for the Xbox systems that is designed to be friendlier towards the planet, Energy Saver mode also uses around 20 times less power than standby mode and can be used to perform background downloads and updates.

What can you do with those spare five seconds? The opportunities are endless, as you can reclaim dropped food before germs infest it, check notifications on your smartphone, or fold two t-shirts.

In comparison, the PS5 takes around 20 seconds to go from a cold boot to active, but it’s still an outstanding number. If you’re looking to grab the latest Xbox for yourself, you can check out GameSpot’s Xbox Series X|S restock page to see when new units arrive near you.

The next couple of months also look good for Xbox, as the recent joint showcase with Bethesda revealed new details on upcoming games such as Redfall, Starfield, and Overwatch 2.

Krafton Inc. has announced a new update for PUBG: New State Mobile. The update introduces a new team deathmatch map called Exhibit Hall, the MP-155 Ultima shotgun, weapon customization options, Vol. 9 of the Survivor Pass, and an overhaul to the Troi Extreme mode.

The Exhibit Hall is a 4v4 map and the first team to reach 40 kills wins the match. When a player dies on the map, they won’t respawn in a fixed point, but they’ll spawn in one of 10 locations spread across the map.

Players can fully utilize the MP-155 Ultima shotgun in the new close-quarters map. Not only is it an ideal weapon to use, but you’ll be able to customize it with scopes, barrels, and stock attachment slots for added damage and control. With the new customization, players can add a full-auto trigger to the shotgun to increase the fire rate, but doing so will increase the recoil. You’ll also be able to put an enhanced suppressor on the SKS’s C2 customizing slot, that’ll increase damage and decrease sound, but it’ll also increase the gun’s recoil and loss of a muzzle attachment. Lastly, players can equip a grenade launcher on the AKM grip slot.

The update also introduces a new Survivor Pass with a Honey Becca theme from the New State faction. There’ll also be a Troi vacation episode, and when players complete the missions, they’ll have the opportunity to claim all Honey’s costumes and face skins for free. Players who purchase the Premium Pass can also claim the ‘Choco Vanilla’ costume set and additional rewards.

Due to community feedback, Troi Extreme has been changed and the tempo of the bluezone will be sped up, which will shorten match times and replace existing airdrops with multi-drops. Upon entering the Troi Extreme, the items provided to players have also been changed.

New State Mobile is a free-to-play mobile game. You can download it on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Just about every week brings something new to Destiny 2, whether it’s story beats, new activities, or interesting new combinations of elements that let players devastate each other in the Crucible. Iron Banter is our weekly look at what’s going on in the world of Destiny and a rundown of what’s drawing our attention across the solar system.

We’re officially in the full run-up to Destiny 2’s next expansion, Lightfall, now that Bungie has announced a showcase that seems very likley to drop a bunch of details about the game’s next chapter. Each year, Bungie develops videos that give a look at gameplay and new mechanics, provide a sense of what new guns are coming to the game, show the expansion’s setting, detail any other changes, and, somewhat crucially, explain where the story is headed in the next year. And when it comes to story, speculation is rampant about how 2023’s Lightfall could upend the Destiny universe.

I’ve speculated about the deal with Lightfall in the past–I’m guessing it’s the Empire Strikes Back portion of the current story as Bungie works to bring its “Light and Darkness Saga” to a close in The Final Shape, the expansion after Lightfall. But I think the placement of the showcase could also be a clue about what might be in store for Destiny 2 in its upcoming season, and the events that are set to lead us into the obviously spooky story alluded to by the Lightfall title.

First, a little background. Lately, Bungie has been holding its cards close to the vest when it comes to story, and that seems in large part due to the fact that seasonal story beats are much more meaningful to Destiny 2’s overall tale than they have been in the past. Especially since the launch of the Beyond Light expansion and the run-up to The Witch Queen, the story told in the seasons has been essential viewing for the much larger and more visible expansions. Savathun’s plan to take hold of the Light, the power previously reserved for Guardians, in the most recent expansion was set up extensively in seasonal storytelling.

Osiris creeping in Season of the Splicer was one of many major story beats leading to The Witch Queen.

Last time we had an expansion showcase, it dropped on the same day as the start of a new season–the Season of the Lost. Bungie provided a whole bunch of details about The Witch Queen at that time, which included a lot of information about the Hive god Savathun and her overall plan. We knew at the start of Season of the Lost that Savathun would successfully gain the Light, which was something of a spoiler for the story that was unfolding in the game at the time. We knew something about how the events we were experiencing each week were going to ultimately play out.

However, placing the showcase on the same day as the start of the season was essential for a big reveal that happened right at the start of Season of the Lost: the fact that Savathun had been impersonating Osiris and had infiltrated the Vanguard for almost an entire year. That was a huge moment in Season of the Lost, and, arguably, one that could have been undercut if info about The Witch Queen had been available before the start of the season.

With the placement of the last showcase as background, consider the placement of the next showcase. It drops on the same day as the start of Season 18, August 23, and while that could just be a fortuitous placement and otherwise no reason to read into things, I’m going to go ahead and read into things. The showcase happening on the same day as the launch of Season 18 could easily mean the same thing it meant for Season of the Lost: a big story twist that could be spoiled if the showcase happened earlier.

The Lightfall name suggests that something drastic and horrible is set to happen next season, and speculation has covered everything from the destruction of the Traveler, to the replacement of humanity by the Hive as the Light’s designated heroes, to the Witness conquering Earth and the Guardians fleeing into space to avoid utter annihilation. Something so massive feels like it needs a proper lead-up, much like Savathun had, to prime the story and hit players with the maximum possible impact. So a powerful, painful story twist in Season 18–with more to come in Season 19–would make a lot of sense.

And I gotta say, I really think we’re building toward the death of Commander Zavala out here.

Zavala is not doing great right now.

I’m not sure it’s something that’ll happen as early as next season, but the seeds are definitely being planted for the loss of the Vanguard’s leader and the most essential defender of humanity. Zavala has been utterly devastated by the events of the last couple of years. The loss of Cayde-6 was a major blow, and he’s weathered increasingly brutal emotional tolls: his near-assassination by the psions and the lies of various characters surrounding Crow’s identity in Season of the Chosen, Lakshmi’s demagoguery in Season of the Splicer, and Savathun-as-Osiris’s betrayal in Season of the Lost. More than that, though, Zavala has been absolutely wrecked by the Traveler’s apparent silence as things have gotten worse and worse. When Savathun was gifted the Light, it didn’t just shake his personal foundation, it cracked that foundation.

Season of the Haunted has leaned hard into how much Zavala has sacrificed and lost, how heavy the burden of command weighs on him, and how much he’s been hurt as his core beliefs have been shaken. He said himself that he feels old and tired. Zavala is in bad shape right now, even with Caiatl’s support.

The loss of Zavala would be a suitably monumental change to Destiny 2, especially if it happens sooner rather than later–say, in Season 18. Zavala’s death would throw the Last City into disarray, because there is, in a very real sense, no one up to the task of replacing him. The story of The Witch Queen and the lore surrounding it does a very good job of humanizing Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard commander and Zavala’s second-in-command, while also depicting how much she struggles with her leadership role. It’ll be a personal struggle for her if she were forced to step in Zavala’s shoes at such a key moment, when the stakes are so high, and it’s not difficult to see how much the loss of Zavala would also ravage Ikora personally.

From a story standpoint, this sounds like an excellent setup for the Light to fall in Lightfall. With the Vanguard and the City thrown into turmoil by Zavala’s loss, the time would be ripe for a lot of players to make their moves. Calus and his loyalist forces from Season of the Risen are still out there; the Hive forces led by Immaru, Savathun’s Ghost, are undoubtedly hatching new plans; the other Hive god, Xivu Arath, is out on the periphery somewhere, waiting to strike; and there still may be dissident forces within the City itself that would see an opportunity to grab power, if one were to arise. This might be the absolute worst time possible to lose the Vanguard commander, which is an excellent reason for Zavala to die from a story perspective.

The characterization of Ikora we saw in The Witch Queen suggests she’d have a very hard time stepping into the role of Vanguard commander–which is why it’d make for great storytelling if she was forced to do so.

Of course, we’re just spitballing here, but I do think we can expect something major from Season 18, and not just because the showcase date seems specifically designed to avoid spoilers. One of the best things Bungie has ever done with Destiny 2 was the long-term story it told that culminated in the final arrival of Savathun, and it’s very obvious that the developer has learned a lot about what an excellent opportunity live-game storytelling provides. We need a similarly long runway for Lightfall as we saw ahead of The Witch Queen. With about six months until the expansion arrives, it’s time for things to start falling apart.

Plus, we had the Spoiler Alert sidearm show up again ahead of The Witch Queen, and Bungie said that weapon was the herald of someone’s death. Personally, I don’t think they meant Savathun herself–that’s too easy, too obvious, and too cheeky. We’re still owed a major death to fulfill the Spoiler Alert prophecy, and it really seems like Zavala is teed up and ready.

Speculate away about the story and the Lightfall showcase in the comments below.

Keyboard switches, explained

Different types of switches will appeal to different and whether you’re going with a Cherry MX switch like Cherry MX Red or Cherry MX Blue, there are plenty of keyboards worth your time. It can get confusing quickly, especially if you can’t test these keyboards yourself and truly tell the difference with your own fingers. Thankfully, it’s easy to understand exactly what you’ll be getting if you understand the terminology.

First off, linear versus tactile switches keys. Linear means there is no physical feedback mechanism to indicate when a keystroke is registered. It’s smooth, relatively quiet, and preferred for rapidly tapping on keys. Tactile means there is a bump or click to indicate you’ve hit the actuation point; it’s louder, but some prefer having physical feedback for keystrokes. It really comes down to preference. Actuation point is the distance at which a keystroke is registered; a shorter distance means you don’t have to press the key down as far, but can lead to errant inputs. Actuation force is, well, the force needed to press the key down. Of course, there are all the quality-of-life considerations to think about, too, like multimedia keys, whether you want a programmable key row and such.

While Cherry has been the long-time dominant manufacturer of mechanical switches, some gaming peripheral brands have started making their own proprietary mechanical switches for their keyboards, namely Razer and Logitech. For a brief overview of the most common mx switches, see below:

In Fortnite, there’s a character who is more or less a human-sized ice cream cone with arms, legs, and–on top of everything else–a face. And this week, to kick off Fortnite’s No Sweat Summer event, he’s released a suggestive hip-hop song and dance about eating ice cream that’s got everybody in the metaverse losing their minds in one way or another. Nobody’s neutral here. Folks either love the new in-universe song by sentient ice cream cone Lil Whip, or they find it profoundly horrible.

For me, the new emote corresponding with Lil Whip’s hip-hop track, Drippin’ Flavor, is a masterpiece of both song and dance. But more importantly than that, it’s a distillation of what has given Fortnite its staying power: this willingness to put a lot of effort into being extremely stupid.

This is one of those things that you kinda need to see for yourself, so if you haven’t seen this beautiful abomination yet, you should take a moment to watch at least some of this little music video that one of Epic’s content creator partners put out at the start of Fortnite’s No Sweat Summer event.

Just so we all know what we’re dealing with here, these are the lyrics for this part of the song: “MMMMMMM/ Lil Whip, Lil Whip Lil Whip/ MMMMMMM/ Take your pick/ Take a lick/ Just like this/ MMMMMM/ Whip it up/ Lil Whippin’ in your cup/ MMMMMMM/ Lil Whippin’/ Drippin’ flavor/ That’s what’s up.”

Remember, this is a song about ice cream, so it’s not sexual! It just FEELS like it is–you can’t mention licking stuff in a song if you want to avoid that vibe–and that’s a big part of what set off the legions of haters when we first learned about the song.

Somebody who’s new here might look at this Lil Whip situation and see some kind of failure. After all, when the emote leaked on Sunday night/Monday morning, the response among the Fortnite community was nearly universally one of disgust. It’s easy to see why: The vocals grated, and the lyrics seemed weirdly sexual for a song that’s just about eating ice cream–Epic may have let things get out of hand with all those “MMMMMMMMM”s. And the dance definitely includes some of those pelvic motions that freaked people out a half-century ago.

But this ain’t a failure. Not even remotely. Drippin’ Flavor is a fun song, and the dance fully owns. I’ve used this thing as my victory royale celebration a few times, and I don’t think I’ll be using any others for my taunts any time soon. I’ve stood in a crowded Party Royale bathroom doing this ice cream sex dance with a horde of randoms, and it was beautiful.

Even Ariana Grande and the Xenomorph from Alien are getting in on the Lil Whip craze.

But what really makes it work is the thing that has made Fortnite work since Epic introduced the battle royale mode: just the sheer gall of this shit. This emote is outrageous. A song about eating ice cream that has weird sexual overtones, written and performed by an ice cream cone man, and I can make Thanos and Darth Vader and Superman and Robocop and Ariana Grande do the dope suggestive dance that goes with it? This is squarely within the box of stuff that I want out of Fortnite, delivered with legitimately high quality. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt this pandered to by any entertainment product that wasn’t directed by Michael Bay.

I’m a simple guy, you know? I didn’t become a Fortnite guy because I love battle royales or because I thought it was an exceptionally fun game. No, I became a Fortnite guy because I could make Will Smith’s character from the Bad Boys movies do the Gangnam Style dance. Hundreds of dollars in microtransactions and a year of “getting good” later, I’m still really just this idiot who wants to make my digital doll do a stupid dance. I play Fortnite for the memes.

And this is as meme-y as it gets, even in Fortnite. Lil Whip also exists as a non-player character in Fortnite’s world who you can interact with during battle royale matches. When you find him, this guy even has some weirdly suggestive dialogue that might come up, such as: “If you don’t want it in a cone, I can squirt it into a loose paper bag.” That’s not dirty at all, but it sure does sound like it is.

I can’t get enough. Over the next week I’ll probably use that Drippin’ Flavor twice as much as all my other emotes combined (that’s probably a conservative estimate, since I don’t even want to use any of the other ones right now). It’ll stay on my locker wheel maybe forever.

This song is a bop, and the dance rules, and the whole deal is divisive in a way that doesn’t matter. Sounds to me like Lil Whip’s Drippin’ Flavor is the song of the summer.

Warner Bros. held a special panel for its crossover fighting game MultiVersus at San Diego Comic Con, where three new characters were announced as part of the game’s first season: the space-faring duo Rick and Morty, as well as Space Jam’s LeBron.

LeBron–notably without “James” in his name, suggesting this is the Space Jam character and not the multiple-time NBA MVP–will enter the game first on July 26. Morty Smith will join the roster at the start of Season 1 two weeks later, while Rick Sanchez’s release date has not yet been confirmed.

A brief gameplay reveal for LeBron was also released, showing off his basketball-themed moveset both in his trademark Tune Squad uniform and a cowboy-themed alternate. The video also gives brief snippets of other new features, including a Rick and Morty-themed stage.

Early access of the MultiVersus open beta began for select players on July 19, with a number of changes made to the roster after the closed alpha test in May. The beta will open to everyone on July 26, with Season 1 beginning with Morty Smith on August 9.

The MultiVersus open beta will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players can still earn a code to the early access phase by watching Twitch streams of the game to earn a code via a Twitch Drop.

Call of Duty Season 4 has added the new “Cursed Ground” public event to Warzone‘s Fortune’s Keep map, and while it’s very much optional, completing it will give you valuable rewards to use in your match. Here we break down everything you need to know about the Cursed Ground event.

What is the Cursed Ground event

Several “cursed chests” have been hidden around Fortune Keep’s island. These special chests contain power-ups and high-quality items, but they can only be unlocked by completing the Cursed Ground zombie-killing event.

Finding and activating Cursed Chests

Cursed Chest on Fortune’s Keep

The Cursed Chests on Fortune’s Keep will spawn at one or more places each map. These locations are random, so you likely won’t find a chest in the same spot for each match. The chest locations won’t appear on the Tac Map right away, but they’ll mark on the map as a white skull icon once you’re in close proximity.

Cursed Chests are black supply boxes highlighted with a purple glow. Simply interact with one to trigger the Cursed Ground event. Once the event begins, zombies will continuously spawn around you and the cursed chest. You’ll want to eliminate them near the chest to harvest Wisps, which are magenta-colored orbs that you’ll collect from fallen zombies. You’ll need to kill 25 zombies to harvest enough Wisps to complete the event.

Make sure you’re prepared before you activate a Cursed Chest. Once activated, the zombies will gradually become stronger. Some will eventually have armor, making the undead feel like bullet sponges near the end of the event. Make sure to go for headshots, and try to have decent ammo count and ground loot before activating the chests. Also, if a chest is located in an enclosed area, make sure they don’t pin you in a corner. The latter bunch of zombies can slap pretty hard.

Rewards for completing the Cursed Ground event

The rewards for completing the event are items like piles of gold, ammo, killstreaks, perks, and sometimes even a Specialist token. You’ll want to grab the loot quickly. These items are not only shared amongst your squad, but enemies can come by to reap your rewards. It also feels like the loot can despawn pretty quickly after it drops, so if someone in your squad dies near the end, they’ll want to hustle back to try as soon as they redeploy.

If you’re looking for more ways to get rewarded, here is a guide for a few Fortune’s Keep Easter eggs you can complete for loot drops. Make sure to check out our complete guide to new and updated POIs for Caldera, and we have some recommended Season 4 weapon loadouts to try for your next match of Warzone.

There’s not a more important position in football than the quarterback. The field general of any offense, quarterbacks are often at the heart of any ratings discussion. To conclude the ratings week for Madden 23, EA finally revealed the overall rating for each individual QB in the game.

Players were conflicted when trying to figure out which QBs would be rated the highest in Madden 23. Aaron Rodgers just won the NFL MVP award, Tom Brady unretired, Joe Burrow came out of nowhere to win the AFC Championship, and Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen look to be the class of the position for the foreseeable future. As such, the quarterback ratings will be a little divisive, as every fan wants their QB to be at the top of the list. Below, fans can see where the top 10 QBs in Madden fell and view every rating on EA’s website.

Top 10 QBs in Madden 23

For the first time in years, there is no quarterback included in the 99 Club to start the Madden season. That’s somewhat shocking, as there are several quarterbacks who could be argued to receive a 99 OVR rating. Still, EA will monitor the position closely and could promote a QB to the club after the season begins. For now, though, here are the top 10 quarterbacks in Madden 23.

The best of the best QBs in #Madden23 👀 @EAMaddenNFL
How’d they do? ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/14oElQVHYn

— ESPN (@espn) July 22, 2022

1. Tom Brady – 97 OVR

While Tom Brady is undoubtedly the greatest quarterback of all time, it seems strange having the Tampa Bay QB at the top spot in Madden 23. He was beat out for the NFL MVP and also lost in the NFC Championship game last season. Of course, Brady’s numbers are still phenomenal, especially for a 44-year-old. Brady at 97 OVR isn’t too jarring, it’s just not having a QB ahead of him on the list that is somewhat puzzling.

2. Aaron Rodgers – 96 OVR

The reigning NFL MVP is only sitting at a 96 OVR after choosing to re-sign with his longtime organization in the offseason. Aaron Rodgers continues to defy the odds and put up stats that make you think he’s still in his prime. This 2023 season could be a down year for Rodgers, though, as his number-one target, Davante Adams, was shipped off to Vegas.

3. Patrick Mahomes – 95 OVR

Just a season ago, Patrick Mahomes was a member of the 99 Club and on the cover of Madden. Now, he’s a 95 OVR and sitting behind two ageless wonders in the ratings. Mahomes certainly had an up-and-down year last season, and now he faces an uphill climb in 2023 without his top target in Tyreek Hill. Still, Mahomes should continue to do Mahomes things no matter who’s on the field.

4. Josh Allen – 92 OVR

Josh Allen has only improved every year he’s been in the NFL and that trend should continue in 2023. Allen is surrounded by talent on both sides of the ball, and he might be in the best position out of any QB on this list. Should Buffalo start the season hot, it’s plausible Allen could pass Mahomes in the ratings.

5. Joe Burrow – 90 OVR

The defending AFC champion QB had his stock skyrocket after the 2021-2022 season. Joe Burrow displayed his immense talent last season, guiding the Bengals to an improbable run to the Super Bowl. However, EA is reluctant to give the third-year QB too high of a rating to start.

6. Dak Prescott – 89 OVR

We get out of the 90 OVR range fairly quickly this season, as Dak Prescott comes in next at 89 OVR. The Dallas Cowboys can’t seem to string together a complete season, as they fell short in the playoffs yet again last season. However, Dak is one of the most consistent QBs in the NFL and he could easily see a bump to 90 OVR.

7. Justin Herbert – 88 OVR

Some might say this rating is too low for one of the most exciting young QBs in the NFL. Justin Herbert truly matured last season, showcasing his massive arm and quick decision-making. While the Chargers failed to make the playoffs on a technicality, Herbert has a much-improved team around him in 2022-2023.

8. Lamar Jackson – 87 OVR

Another rating that fans are calling too low belongs to Lamar Jackson. 87 OVR is certainly lower for a former NFL MVP and true wonder on the field. However, the rating likely stems from Jackson’s injury last season and further concerns heading into this season. If Jackson can stay on the field, his rating should get a bump.

9. Russell Wilson – 87 OVR

After a decade of brilliance in Seattle, Russell Wilson was traded to Denver this offseason. With no wind to speak of at home games, Wilson should be able to launch the ball deep more than he ever has. The Broncos have a decent offense as well, so Russ will be able to make use of weapons that could make him a darkhorse candidate for MVP.

10. Matthew Stafford – 85 OVR

It wouldn’t be right to not have the defending Super Bowl champion QB somewhere in the top 10. Matthew Stafford just makes the cut at 85 OVR, but could be in line for a huge bump given the talent that he has around him on the Rams.

Honorable Mentions

Deshaun Watson – 84 OVR Kyler Murray – 84 OVRDerek Carr – 83 OVR Ryan Tannehill – 83 OVR Matt Ryan – 81 OVR Kirk Cousins – 80 OVRMac Jones – 78 OVRBaker Mayfield – 77 OVR Jimmy Garoppolo – 77 OVRJameis Winston – 76 OVR

That does it for the top 10 QBs in Madden 23. You can take a look at the full 99 Club or the top 10 at every defensive position in some of our previous articles.
