Nvidia is finally set to reveal its next big GPU architecture next month, with CEO Jen-Hsun Huang confirming as much during the company’s latest earnings call.

Huang revealed that his keynote at GTC on September 20 will include news on “new advances of RTX reinventing 3D graphics and gaming.” GTC isn’t usually an event for gaming-focused devices, which might have suggested that Huang was referring to new architecture for data centers, but the specific mention of RTX and gaming seems to confirm that it’s Ada Lovelace, the architecture behind the rumored 4000 series GPUs, that will be on stage.

Leaks of potential specifications for a range of 4000 series GPUs have been floating around for months now, with numerous suggestions that Nvidia planning to start its rollout with the flagship RTX 4090. This could also be why it will be revealed at GTC, given that the RTX 4090, much like the RTX 3090, is aimed more towards creators and professionals over strictly just gamers. A reveal at the end of September could potentially mean a release in October, as Nvidia usually doesn’t leave much time between reveal and release of its products.

The news of Ada Lovelace’s reveal was used somewhat to soften the blow of a rough earnings call for Nvidia, especially in terms of gaming revenue. The company reported a loss of 44% in gaming hardware revenue over the same quarter last year, with Huang stating that Nvidia will “get through this over the next few months and go into next year with our new architecture.”

Sony Interactive Entertainment is increasing the price of the PlayStation 5 across various regions, citing global economic challenges and adverse currency trends as the primary reason.

SIE CEO Jim Ryan states in a blog post that the decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) for the PS5 has been a difficult one, but that global inflation as necessitated it. Regions affected by the price increase include all of Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and parts of North America. The United States is, however, unaffected.

Below is a breakdown of the new prices for both PS5 versions across affected regions. The price increase will only take effect in Japan from September 15 due to how the region handles sales through a lottery system. Other increases are immediate.

Europe PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – €549.99PS5 Digital Edition – €449.99UK PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – £479.99PS5 Digital Edition – £389.99Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022) PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥60,478 yen (including tax)PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen (including tax)China PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥4,299 yuanPS5 Digital Edition – ¥3,499 yuanAustralia PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $799.95PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $649.95Mexico PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – MXN $14,999PS5 Digital Edition – MXN $12,499Canada PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – CAD $649.99PS5 Digital Edition – CAD $519.99

Jim Ryan concluded the blog post by saying that Sony’s top priority is still improving the supply chain for PS5 production in order to keep the console in stock across all regions, in spite of the price increase. Earlier this week Sony announced that the PSVR 2 would be coming in early 2023, while also revealing a new premium controller called the DualSense Edge.

Tighnari is a Dendro bow user who’s joined the game in version 3.0. He’s the new main banner character and he’s currently the only five-star Dendro character as well. Collei is free, but you may want to get Tighnari too if you’re near the in-game pity, simply to take advantage of Dendro Resonance. If you plan to level up Tighnari, these are the required materials.

Nagadus Emerald

Like Collei, the majority of Tighnari’s ascension materials can be found in the new region, Sumeru. Nagadus Emerald is a stone that drops from the new normal boss, Jadeplume Terrorshroom. The creature is located in the northwest corner of Sumeru and can easily be found if you interact with the nearby Statue of the Seven to reveal that section of the map. You can also convert other elemental stones into Nagadus Emerald by using an alchemy station.

Nilotpala Lotus

The Nilotpala Lotus is a new plant that’s native to Sumeru. It’s mostly found in and around the Lokapala Jungle to the northeast and the Avidya Forest nearby. The lotus only blooms at night near water though, so keep that in mind when searching for it. Here’s a screenshot of the HoYoverse interactive map showing where to look for yellow the plant.

Most Nilotpala Lotus plants are in northeastern Sumeru.

Fungi Drops

These monster drops come from new enemies introduced in the 3.0 update. Every single type of fungus enemy in Sumeru will drop these items at different rarities depending on their level. They can be found all over the region, but you can use the Adventurer Handbook to find the exact locations for these enemies.

Majestic Hooked Beak

Majestic Hooked Beaks are boss drops that come from the new Jadeplume Terrorshroom normal boss. Farm the boss to get both the beaks and Nagadus Emeralds at the same time to save some time. Collei also needs both of those items to ascend, so it’s worth grinding if you like both characters.

Talent Books

Tighnari’s Talent Books come from the Steeple of Ignorance Domain, just like Collei’s. However, unlike Collei’s, the Admonition books can only be farmed on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The Steeple of Ignorance is located north of Sumeru City, next to Chatrakam Cave.

Meaning of Aeons

Meaning of Aeons is an item that drops from the Raiden Shogun weekly boss found underneath Narukami Shrine in Inazuma. The boss is only available to fight after Raiden Shogun’s second story quest, Transient Dreams, is completed. Once again, Collei also needs materials from this boss, so you’ll be farming for the both of them by fighting her.

Crown of Insight

Crowns of Insight are usually only awarded upon the completion of main story missions like Perilous Trail, or major limited-time events like the recent Summertime Odyssey. These items are so rare that players typically save them for their strongest main DPS characters, or whichever characters they like the most.

When Arcade1Up released its NBA Jam cabinet in 2020, it was a much-needed salve for my household’s Boomshakalaka-loving hearts as we spent an inordinate amount of time at home due to, at the time, a brand-new pandemic. It was the first Arcade1Up cabinet to feature Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to play against others who owned the cabinet. Much like all of Arcade1Up’s other titles, though, it was on the smaller side. Now, the company is addressing that particular issue with its NBA Jam: Shaq Edition system.

Size and shape

The Shaq Edition of NBA Jam is Arcade1Up’s biggest cabinet to date, at a whopping 67 inches tall. For comparison, the company’s original NBA Jam cabinet was 57.8 inches tall if you bought the version that came with the add-on riser. It’s not just the height that makes this cabinet stand out, though.

The Shaq Editionalso much more closely resembles the original arcade cabinet. Though the art on Arcade1Up’s first NBA Jam cabinet was based on the original game, the shape was certainly not. Now, with the Shaq Edition, you get updated cabinet art–complete with Shaquille O’Neil silhouettes on the sides–and a shape that’s far more reminiscent of the arcade classic.

Size isn’t the only upgrade on the Shaq Edition of NBA Jam, though. The cabinet includes–by far–the best marquee on an Arcade1Up cabinet yet. Instead of a block of wood with a light in it, this cabinet recreates the look of classic light-up marquees nearly perfectly, by having the marquee artwork and the light be separate pieces inside the cabinet. It’s worth noting that the light is evenly distributed across the marquee, with no bleeding to be seen. It looks fantastic.

In terms of the cabinet itself, the only thing that hasn’t changed much visually is the control deck. Both the original and the Shaq Edition control decks are 31.5 inches wide. The new deck is a bit longer, but not by much. As such, it still is not the easiest thing in the world to cram four friends together to duke it out in a basketball game. At the very least, the screen is 19 inches diagonally–2 inches bigger than the previous release. It’s not a huge deal, but it is a nice bonus that should help with visibility if you do have four players on the system at once.

The games

When it comes to the games included–NBA Jam, NBA Jam: Tournament Edition, and NBA Hangtime–you know exactly what you’re getting. These are ports of the original games that seemingly haven’t been tinkered with (aside from a few players being omitted, like the first cabinet) and appear to be the exact same copies of the games that are on the company’s previous NBA Jam release. The Shaq Edition also contains the same Wi-Fi functionality as the original cabinet, allowing you to play with friends who own either of Arcade1Up’s NBA Jam machines thanks to a new downloadable patch that allows the two versions of the cabinet to communicate with each other.

The value

Put simply, the visual presentation of the Shaq Edition of NBA Jam blows Arcade1Up’s previous version out of the water. As you can see in the side-by-side photo above, the new cabinet makes the old one look more or less like a toy. However, you’re also going to be paying a premium price for it. NBA Jam: Shaq Edition retails for $700, compared to $550 for the standard NBA Jam cabinet. And unlike the standard version, it doesn’t come with the branded stool. What it does provide, though, is a more true-to-life arcade experience than the previous cabinet. What’s more, it’s only around six inches shorter than a standard arcade cabinet, as opposed to the standard edition which is over a foot shorter.

The true value will change based on the person, though. If you’re someone who wants to get as close as you can to recreating the NBA Jam arcade experience without spending $3,000 on a used cabinet, this is a great option for you. Then again, you’re also spending $700 on three vintage games, which is a lot to ask for. That said, it’s entirely possible you’re a fan of the brand and have already invested thousands of dollars in Arcade1Up products. If that’s the case, the notion of buying a bigger NBA Jam cabinet might not be all that strange.

Regardless of where you stand, though, this cabinet represents a very interesting turning point for Arcade1Up. The company realizes there is a market out there for larger cabinet reproductions and is actively meeting it. Both the Shaq Edition of NBA Jam and the company’s Golden Tee 3D Golf are larger, while a “Pro” line of cabinets that are the exact size and shape of arcade classics are in the works, beginning with Killer Instinct–and they even come with arcade-accurate SuzoHapp controls.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you’re looking for in a home arcade experience. NBA Jam: Shaq Edition may cost a bit more than the standard Arcade1Up cabinets, but what you get in return is a very close resemblance to the original arcade game–certainly the closest Arcade1Up has gotten thus far. If that’s important to you, you’ve found the right cabinet. However, don’t expect the control deck area to have a bunch of extra room thanks to the new model. Cramming around the machine with three of your friends will still be a bit of a tight squeeze. Still, this cabinet is bigger, it looks fantastic, and the gameplay is as good now as it was in the ’90s. Boomshakalaka!

Arcade1Up provided NBA Jam: Shaq Edition to GameSpot for review.

Collei has just joined Genshin Impact‘s roster in version 3.0 as one of only two playable Dendro characters, alongside Tighnari. She’s a four-star bow user who can be obtained for free at the moment, so there’s nothing preventing you from adding her to your party right now. Collei is currently a must-have character simply because of how Sumeru is built–there are Dendro-related puzzles and mechanics all over the place. But if you’re looking to level her up for real, here’s what you’ll need.

Nagadus Emerald

Nearly all of Collei’s ascension materials can be found inside Sumeru, so most items should be relatively close to one another. Nagadus Emerald is an elemental stone that can be obtained by farming the new Jadeplume Terrorshroom normal boss. This green bird-like creature is located in the northwest corner of Sumeru. Alternatively, players can also convert other elemental stones into Nagadus Emerald pieces at any alchemy station.

Rukkhashava Mushroom

Rukkhashava Mushrooms are mostly found in Mawtiyima Forest, Ashava, and the Ardravi Valley on the northern, western, and eastern sides of Sumeru. They’re usually found on trees inside the rainforests. Here’s a screenshot of where to find them, taken from HoYoLAB’s interactive map:

Rukkhashava Mushrooms can be found around the edges of Sumeru.

Arrowheads

Arrowheads drop from Hilichurl archers, and as you may already know, those enemies can be found in every single major region of the game. They’re found all over Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru, so farming for these drops should be easy. Check the Adventurer’s Handbook in the menu for exact locations. Arrowheads can also be bought from the in-game shop using Stardust.

Majestic Hooked Beak

Majestic Hooked Beaks are brand-new items introduced in Genshin Impact version 3.0. The item only drops from the Jadeplume Terrorshroom normal boss, meaning that it can be farmed alongside Nagadus Emerald to somewhat reduce the time spent grinding.

Talent Books

Collei’s Talent books are also new additions to the game, and they can only be earned by farming the Steeple of Ignorance Domain near the Chatrakam Cave, just north of Sumeru City. The Domain is available to challenge on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so be mindful of that when finding time to grind.

Tears of the Calamitous God

This boss drop comes from the Raiden Shogun weekly boss found underneath Narukami Shrine in Inazuma. You’ll need to complete Raiden Shogun’s second story quest, Transient Dreams, to unlock this boss fight. Tears of the Calamitous God can also be created by converting the boss’s other drops at any alchemy station.

Crown of Insight

Crowns are extremely rare items that can usually be obtained through limited-time events like Lantern Rite and Summertime Odyssey, or other major missions in the game. As such, players often save them for their favorite characters or a main DPS.

Intel this week introduced its new Semiconductor Co-Investment Program (SCIP) under which it will build new manufacturing facilities in collaboration with investment partners – a sharp departure from the company’s traditional stance of wholly owning its logic fabs. As part of its SCIP initiative, Intel has already signed a deal with Brookfield Asset Management, which will provide Intel about $15 billion to build its fab new fab in Arizona in exchange for a 49% stake in the project. Furthermore, similar co-investment models are set to be used for other fabs in the future.

New Fabs Are Getting Costlier

When Intel announced plans to produce chips for other companies last year (and to a large degree become a contract maker of semiconductors), it marked a significant shift in the company’s business strategy that required Intel to build new manufacturing capacity not only for itself, but for its future clients as well. But modern fabs are exceptionally expensive, as new manufacturing tools — such as contemporary extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography scanners — are prohibitively expensive, which makes it considerably harder for the company to execute on its IDM 2.0 strategy from capital point of view.

To get sufficient capacity for its own products and for its fabless clients in the mid-term future, Intel had to engage into several capital-intensive projects: the $7.1 billion fab expansion in Ireland (which has probably been completed); two new fabs — Fab 52 and Fab 62 — at its Ocotillo site near Chandler, Arizona that were expected to cost $20 billion; an all-new semiconductor production campus in Ohio that will need $20 billion initially and will be a size of a small town as well as will cost up to $100 when fully built; and an all-new production facility near Magdeburg, Germany (which will require an investment of €17 billion).

Intel is set to get billions in incentives from local authorities as well as subsidies from federal governments of the U.S. and Germany to build these fabs. But modern EUV-capable semiconductor production facilities cost about $10 billion (large gigafabs with a capacity of 100,000 wafer starts per month cost north from $20 billion), so financing these projects is particularly challenging even for Intel. Therefore, in a bid to build its new facilities in Arizona the company decided to engage into its co-investment program with Brookfield.

Intel to Maintain Majority Ownership

Under the terms of the deal, the two companies will co-invest $30 billion in the ongoing expansion of the site with Intel financing 51% and Brookfield backing 49% of the total project cost. Previously Intel planned to invest $20 billion in its Fab 52 and Fab 62, but together with Brookfield the sum has increased to $30 billion. In addition to getting access to additional funding, Intel could also take advantage of Brookfield’s experience in developing infrastructure assets.

By working together with Brookfield, Intel will get $15 billion in free cash flow and will be able to invest more into its new fabs without raising new debt. Also, this will allow Intel to invest more in other projects while “continuing to fund a healthy and growing dividend.” Meanwhile, the $15 billion benefit is “expected to be accretive to Intel’s earnings per share during the construction and ramp phase.”

Perhaps the key part of the announcement is the fact that Intel plans to sign similar deals with co-investors in the future, so expect its upcoming manufacturing capacity to be co-funded by others. Intel will retain majority ownership and operating control of its chip factories, but it will not own 100% of them. Previously the company rarely engaged into joint ventures, the most notable exceptions being IMFT, the company’s NAND flash joint-venture with Micron, and participating in ASML’s customer co-investment program from early 2010s.

“This landmark arrangement is an important step forward for Intel’s Smart Capital approach and builds on the momentum from the recent passage of the CHIPS Act in the U.S.,” said David Zinsner, Intel CFO. “Semiconductor manufacturing is among the most capital-intensive industries in the world, and Intel’s bold IDM 2.0 strategy demands a unique funding approach. Our agreement with Brookfield is a first for our industry, and we expect it will allow us to increase flexibility while maintaining capacity on our balance sheet to create a more distributed and resilient supply chain.”

Co-ownership of semiconductor manufacturing facilities is not something unheard of the industry. China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Co. (SMIC) invests in new fabs together with local authorities of Chinese provinces as well as various asset management companies and/or investment banks (many of which are controlled by China’s federal government). GlobalFoundries used to be co-owned by AMD and Mubadala before the latter acquired AMD’s stake as the chip developer badly needed money. Yet, a co-investment program is something particularly new for Intel, which has always owned 100% of its manufacturing facilities. Ultimately, as it looks like as the semiconductor production is getting more expensive, there is a first time for anything.

Genshin Impact version 3.0 update is now live, allowing players to step foot in the game’s newest major area, Sumeru. There are more than a few secrets to uncover and puzzles to solve deep in the region’s jungles. Solving this particular puzzle in Mawtiyima Forest will unlock the Under the Umbrella’s Shade Domain. Here’s what you need to know.

How to Solve the Mawtiyima Forest Elemental Pillar Puzzle

In order to solve this puzzle, you’ll need to activate each elemental pillar around the outside of the Domain. If you don’t have a Dendro character to use like Tighnari or Collei, simply interact with the Dendrogranum plant nearby to surround yourself with Dendrograna. These little green sprites will follow up aimed bow shots or charged attacks with a Dendro attack for a limited amount of time, so use them to light up the pillars with any character. Here’s what the Dendrogranum plant looks like:

Dendrogranum plant and pillars surround the Domain.

The elemental pillars need to be lit up in a certain order, and there are five pillars total. One of them is concealed by a large stone that can only be destroyed by using a Dendrograna alongside one of your aimed shots or charged attacks. The stone has a glowing green mark on it, so it’s hard to miss–deal with that first, before starting the puzzle.

Each pillar has a symbol carved into the ground at its base. Look for the only symbol that’s glowing and activate the pillar next to it. Each symbol will point in the direction of the next pillar that needs to be activated, so continue to light them up using the Dendrograna until all pillars are glowing green with Dendro energy like in the image above. Here’s what the pillar symbols will look like:

Look for the glowing symbol next to the elemental pillars.

Once the puzzle has been solved, the Under the Umbrella’s Shade Domain will rise up from the ground in a short cutscene. Walk up to the door and interact with it to create a new teleport point that can be returned to at any time. A Common Chest will also appear in front of the Domain to reward you for your trouble.
