The Genshin Impact version 3.1 update has recently went live, and with it came the chance to speak HoYoverse’s developers over e-mail to gain insight into the team’s plans for the future.

We asked about endgame content, Resin caps, costumes, and more. In their responses, the developers touch on what’s currently being worked on, as well as potential ideas for future updates.

GameSpot: Versions 3.0 and 3.1 are expected to be one week shorter than usual. In the future, will you be continuing with these shortened version lengths, or should players expect update releases to return to their former pace?

Starting from Version 3.0 to the end of Version 3.2, the length of each update will be shortened to five weeks. But a shorter update cycle will not influence the quality of gameplay and content. Please stay tuned.

Currently, the Spiral Abyss is the only true endgame content for players at high Adventure Ranks. Are there any plans to release new, permanent endgame content in the same vein as the Spiral Abyss?

The Spiral Abyss is one of the most effective ways [for] players [to] test out their party composition and combat strength. If we design another type of permanent endgame that is similar to the Spiral Abyss, it might end up creating excessive anxiety for our players–not everyone is interested in Musk Reef.

Just like [the] Genius Invokation TCG that we unveiled in the Special Program for Version 3.2, we are also working on designing more interesting gameplay in the future. As an open-world game, Genshin Impact has a natural compatibility with various types of gameplay, which gives us confidence in the long-term operation.

Genshin Impact is going into year two with an ever-expanding roster. Some older characters might get left behind as power creep settles in and newer characters become much stronger choices. Is there a plan in place to potentially upgrade older characters and make them more viable?

If a character is only assessed by a single dimension of numerical strength, power creep could indeed be an issue. However, in Genshin Impact, [the] rules of gameplay [are more impactful] than how strong a character is. Therefore, new battlegrounds, new challenge levels, or even new team builds, all have potential to bring new life to existing content.

The new four-star Hydro character, Candace

The introduction of Dendro has created plenty of new ways to cause elemental reactions, but some elements have been left out. Has there been any discussion regarding the addition of new reactions for existing elements? For example, in the future, could there be a new Geo and Dendro reaction?

We have no such plans for the time being. With the release of the Dendro element, the seven-element system has become somewhat complex. For us, there are other ways to increase the fun for players rather than simply increasing the complexity of game rules.

With easy and open rules, given some time, players will come to discover their own ways of developing builds. That is the fun of this game. The balancing of all gameplay rules is part of the team’s long-term design focus, plus the team’s experience and learning from player feedback in the long run are all important to maintain that focus.

For us, there are other ways to increase the fun for players rather than simply increasing the complexity of game rules.

The world of Teyvat continues to expand, giving players so many more challenges to complete daily (Domains, bosses, Ley Lines). Is there a chance we see a cap increase for Original Resin, or a quicker regeneration rate to allow players to take on more of these challenges each day?

Domains, bosses, and Ley Lines are important means to farm character and weapon ascension materials, and resins [are] required to claim these items as rewards. Meanwhile, we’re also providing more options for gamers to obtain character development items. For example, many character and weapon ascension materials can be obtained and redeemed from events that we run periodically.

New players may have been a bit lost when starting the Summertime Odyssey event because they missed Fischl and Mona’s first introductions. This also happened when Scaramouche showed up in Inazuma’s Archon Quest after appearing in the limited-time Mondstadt event. Is the team considering adding a way for new players to see or replay old story-related content and cutscenes that only existed in past limited-time events?

We’re aware of this issue and are looking into solutions for it. On one hand, stories from limited-time events shall never become barriers to understanding and playing Archon Quests. On the other hand, we’re also working on beginner tutorial adjustments, client capacity optimization, intelligent management of past content, and other optimizations. And as our technology and capacity [grow], we hope to have useful solutions that players welcome.

The new five-star Electro character, CynoScenery from the Sumeru desert

Costumes were added to the game last year, providing new, stylish looks for some characters. How likely is it that the Traveler becomes a recipient of one of these costumes? It would be interesting to see the Traveler in clothing that represents some of the regions they enter on their journey.

It is an intriguing idea to design outfits and accessories with regional characteristics for the Traveler. We don’t have anything to share on that front, but we’re always considering new ideas.

As a follow-up to the previous question, Aether and Lumine seem to get fun little accessories during certain quests, like a mask or flower crown, but they can only be worn for short periods of time. Have you ever considered turning these temporary accessories into permanent cosmetics?

We’ve been discussing this question within the team and some other ideas similar to it, however, we don’t have any news or details to reveal at this time.

On top of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse is also working on Honkai Impact 3rd , Zenless Zone Zero, and Honkai: Star Rail. There’s been a crossover between Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd in the past where Keqing and Fischl arrived in Honkai Impact. Are there any plans in store to do the reverse, and bring characters from Honkai Impact 3rd into Genshin Impact?

In terms of characterization, we wish to channel more effort and attention [into] creating characters from the world of Genshin Impact. If there are new opportunities for crossover in the future, we will be sure to share them with everyone.

Xur has officially arrived in the Destiny 2 solar system, bringing with him a fresh selection Exotic arms and armor. Here’s where you can find the Agent of the Nine for the next few days and what Exotics he’s selling.

This week, you can find Xur in The Tower, in the Hangar.

For his weapon, Xur is offering Cerberus+1. Hunters can pick up the Stomp-EE5 boots; Titans can grab the Dunemarchers boots; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Astrocyte Verse helmet.

Dead Man’s Tale has a better selection this week, as the Subsistence perk makes this Exotic scout rifle ideal for taking out cannon fodder foes. Kills will partially reload the rifle from reserves, and with Cranial Spike active, you can extend the lethality of this weapon.

Cerberus+1

The key takeaway with Cerberus+1 is that it fires a lot of ammo, and as an auto rifle that’s slotted into your Kinetic slot, you won’t have to worry about running out of bullets. It’s more of a novelty than a serious contender in the current age of Destiny 2 though, as it has no intrinsic anti-champion mods and there are much better options out there for primary weapons that can take out trash mobs and assist your subclass builds.

Stomp-EE5 (Hunter)

Great for mobility, but not much else.

A Hunter favorite, Stomp-EE5 give you an extra kick by increasing your speed and slide distance and adding improvements to various jump abilities. At the same time, your airborne effectiveness will take a knock in the stats department, so only consider equipping these if mobility plays a large part in your Hunter build strategy.

Stats:

Mobility: 4Resilience: 22Recovery: 6Discipline: 12Intellect: 2 Strength: 16 Total: 62

Dunemarchers

Run fast, hit hard, and chain major damage to enemies with Dunemarchers.

For Titans who love to run around bashing enemies while wielding Arc powers, Dunemarchers are pretty terrific. Linear Actuators will increase sprint speed and build up a static charge, allowing you to apply a Jolt effect to enemies that will make them chain damage to any of their allies. Combine that with the Titan’s runaway train melee focus, and you’ve got a hard-hitting Exotic that favors speed and ruthless aggression.

Stats:

Mobility: 7Resilience: 26Recovery: 2Discipline: 12Intellect: 22Strength: 12 Total: 61

Astrocyte Verse

Blink in and out of danger with this Warlock Exotic.

Warlock players have largely been experimenting with Solar and Arc over the last couple of months, but the Void subclass still has a lot to offer when the right Exotic is equipped. Astrocyte Verse makes the Blink Super even deadlier, as you’ll be able to teleport further and more frequently, perfect for some PvP chaos when you’re outnumbered. Throw in increased weapon ready-up speed and improved airborne effectiveness stats for all weapons, and Astrocyte Verse can be devastating in the hands of skilled players.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on Friday. Bungie doesn’t mark Xur’s location on the in-game map, so it can be easy to miss him if you’re not aware he exists. He only comes to specific locations, of which now there are only three: the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Apex Legends Mobile‘s fifth battle pass is just a few days away, but this event-packed season isn’t over quite yet. Players have until October 4 to complete one final seasonal Hyperbeat quest in return for free cosmetics, Mission Cards, currency, and other useful items. The good news: Rhapsody’s Remix can easily be completed in a single day, and the prizes are well worth the effort.

The event challenges players to complete quests as either Loba or Rhapsody, and consists of nine challenges, each of which rewards players with a different prize. Completing the ninth and final challenge earns players the colorful, mobile-exclusive Vapor Blast Loba legend skin. Keep reading for a step-by-step guide to help you complete this event before the Hyperbeat battle pass expires and is replaced by Aftershow next week.

Getting started

You’ll probably be greeted by a splash page advertising the event as soon as you open the Apex Legends Mobile app, but if you somehow manage to miss it, the event hub can be located by selecting the purple “Season Event” banner on the right side of the main lobby screen.

From there, select the “Limited-Time” tab located at the top of the screen, then select “Rhapsody’s Remix” from the vertical list of events on the right side of the screen. This will take you to the event hub.

The event hub displays challenge progress and lists available rewards.

Challenges and rewards

The event’s challenges and corresponding rewards are as follows:

Playing as Rhapsody or Loba, make it to the Top 10 in 3 battle royale matches: Cyber City account badgeUse Rhapsody or Loba’s Ultimate in battle royale matches 4 times: 1,000 Hyperbeat CoinsKill 10 enemies in battle royale while playing as Rhapsody or Loba: 1 Mission CardDeal 3,000 damage as Rhapsody or Loba in battle royale matches: 2,000 Hyperbeat CoinsUse Rhapsody or Loba’s Ultimate in battle royale matches 10 times: 400 FluxPlaying as Rhapsody or Loba, make it to the Top 3 in 1 battle royale match: Crimson Chrome user avatar frameDeal 5,000 damage as Rhapsody or Loba in battle royale matches: 10 Syndicate Pack PiecesKill 20 enemies in battle royale while playing as Rhapsody or Loba: 3,000 Hyperbeat CoinsComplete 15 battle royale matches as Loba or Rhapsody: Vapor Blast Loba legend skin (Rare)

(*Equivalent to 1 Syndicate Pack)

Loba’s Vapor Blast skin can be obtained by simply completing 15 battle royale matches.

Tips

One of the many upsides to this event is that, with enough determination, it can easily be completed in a single day, making it a great way to obtain free loot and rack up Hyperbeat Coins to spend on cosmetics in the Seasonal Store. Set aside some play time this weekend and you should have no problem knocking these event challenges out before Aftershow goes live.

But if you haven’t unlocked Loba or Rhapsody, never fear–you can play all legends for free from October 1 – 3, so this event is the perfect chance to take two new legends for a test-drive if you haven’t unlocked them yet. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to try out new playstyles.

Don’t forget that although your Hyperbeat Coins will carry over to next season, Mission Cards expire at the end of the season. If you complete the challenge that rewards you with one, make sure you’ve used it before Aftershow goes live on October 5 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET.

Lastly, you’ll wand to assemble a squad. A decent squad makes completing the event challenges worlds easier and far more entertaining. Whether they’re IRL friends or randoms you met in the lobby chat, be sure to communicate with your squadmates and let them know if you’re going to be attempting to complete a particularly difficult challenge during the match. As the saying goes: Teamwork makes the dream work (and in this case, also earns you a ton of free loot).

Apex Legends Mobile is available for download on Android and iOS devices.

Google’s announcement of Stadia shutting down early next year took many people by surprise, including several games developers who planned to release their titles on the cloud streaming service. When Stadia first launched a few years ago, it did so with a small but respectable library of games that slowly grew in time. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2, and Cyberpunk 2077 were big names on the cloud platform, but Stadia was also home to a large number of indie games that found a new audience on the service.

With Stadia officially winding down on January 18, 2023, several developers, studios, and PR companies have reacted to the news and how it will affect their games. Some of these studios were still planning to release games on Stadia before the announcement was made, and players could also be at risk of losing all their hard work in certain titles due to a lack of cross-save support.

SFB Games’ Tom Vian described how the public news was the first that they’d heard of Stadia’s impending closure–two days before the launch of Tangle Tower on the platform–and Necrosoft Games director Brandon Sheffield spoke about how Stadia had “the best developer revenue” of any streaming service. Indie games developer Simon Roth lamented about how stressful the game development process can be and how months of hard work had essentially been flushed away.

Tangle Tower was due to launch on Stadia in 2 days time, and this article was the first I heard about it shutting down 😢 https://t.co/Pu0UPTQlRn

— Tom Vian (@SFBTom) September 29, 2022

I know everybody is having a great time laughing at this but stadia had the best dev revenue of any streaming service, and launching Hyper Gunsport there was going to recoup our dev costs. We were launching there in November and are now in a much tougher situation. https://t.co/ZM8MfKrc5A

— brandon sheffield (@necrosofty) September 29, 2022

OH BOY VERY HAPPY TO SEE MONTHS OF MY WORK GOING IN THE BIN AGAIN.
I SURE DO LOVE GAME DEVELOPMENT.https://t.co/DUpBtof8tp

In terms of big AAA games, so far only Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive and Destiny 2’s Bungie have addressed the Stadia situation. Progression, rewards, and unlockable gear in Hitman games are linked to a personal account in the game, and IO said that it was “looking into ways” for Stadia players to continue their journey on other platforms. Bungie simply mentioned that it had “begun conversations about next steps” for Stadia members, and that it will update its players as soon as possible.

To all our HITMAN fans on Google Stadia.
We hear you – we are looking into ways for you to continue your HITMAN experience on other platforms. pic.twitter.com/7VZsDQAMkC

— IO Interactive (@IOInteractive) September 30, 2022

Bungie has “begun conversations about next steps” for #Destiny2 players on Google Stadia. Stay tuned for more updates. pic.twitter.com/3f8aGgtQOM

— Destiny Bulletin (@DestinyBulletn) September 29, 2022

In a more direct example of how Stadia’s closure will affect some companies, No More Robot’s Mike Rose didn’t mince words and tweeted about poor communication from Google and possible lack of payment for an upcoming game from the publisher as well.

Oh my god https://t.co/3lX9ExEfKB
We have a game coming to Stadia in November. Who wants to guess that Google will refuse to pay us the money they owe us for it

— Mike Rose (@RaveofRavendale) September 29, 2022

Stadia subscribers won’t be too badly affected when Google pulls the plug on its streaming service next year. Players will still have access to their games library until January 18, and Google has confirmed that it will refund all Stadia hardware, games, and DLC purchases made through the Google Store.

There’s no better way to end the week than by getting the Wordle correct. If you’re here, then you might be struggling to accomplish that goal. Luckily for you, we’re here to make sure that you end the week with a bang and continue your streak into the weekend. The good news is that the answer to today’s Wordle is fairly easy, as there aren’t any tricky letters in the word. Although, the word itself isn’t too commonly used, so some players might need to rely on entering random letters or they can use our guide. If you haven’t started the September 30 Wordle yet, though, you can check out our list of recommended starting words to give yourself an advantage before you’ve begun.

However, if you’re a few guesses deep, then it might be time to seek some helpful advice. We have exactly that just below. There are two hints that should help players at least come up with guesses for today’s puzzle on September 30. We will also spell out the full answer further down in the guide if players simply want to escape today unscathed with no trouble.

Today’s Wordle Answer – September 30, 2022

We’ll begin with two hints that directly relate to the Wordle answer, but won’t immediately give the word away.

Hint 1: This word is the one-word title for an upcoming video game that’s releasing on Oct. 21. The game is a first-person horror survival title that’s an Xbox/PC exclusive.Hint 2: This word and “contempt” are synonyms. The word only has one vowel, which is found in the middle of the word.

If you weren’t able to guess the answer from our hints, then fear not, as we have the full answer right here. The full answer to the September 30 Wordle is… “scorn.” For you Xbox and PC players out there, some of you might be playing Scorn the game within the next month, so you might have had an advantage today. Hopefully, though, every player was able to continue their streak today. We’ll be back on Monday to continue our Wordle guides.

A new trailer for The Callisto Protocol has gone live, and as you’d expect from previous footage of the sci-fi horror, it’s full of gore, violent dismemberment, and guts being spilled everywhere.

The big reveal in this trailer is the appearance of a new character played by Karen Fukuhara, who has risen to fame over the last few years with starring roles in 2016’s Suicide Squad and Amazon’s The Boys TV series. Beyond that, you can also grab a quick tease of terrifying secrets that lie beneath Black Iron Prison, which happens to be infested with a new breed of horror.

The Callisto Protocol is out on December 2 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, and previous trailers have teased a very gruesome end that you can expect to suffer if you make a wrong move in the game.

A spiritual successor to the Dead Space series that director Glen Schofield co-created, you can still expect some distinct differences and horrific surprises in the game that helps transform it into a unique beast when compared to its primary inspiration.

For more, check out everything we know about The Callisto Protocol, including gameplay details, enemies, and preorder bonuses.

For the Destiny 2 player looking to engage in some intense PvP competition, Trials of Osiris is the place to be on a weekend. High-level competition that can be incredibly rewarding, Trials is more electrifying than ever thanks to the introduction of Arc 3.0 that puts a little extra zap into the steps of talented Guardians who know how to use the subclass to devastating effect.

While we don’t yet know which map Trials will be played on this weekend or which Adept weapon will be up for grabs, we’ll update this post as soon as the event kicks off. You can also check back later to see where Xur is, and see if the Agent of the Nine’s inventory could give you a slight edge in Trials.

Trials weapons now carry the Alacrity Origin Trait. It gives you increased aim assist, reload speed, stability, and range on your Trials guns when you’re the last living member of a fireteam or running solo. You can also choose to swap to the Crucible Origin trait, One Quiet Moment, which greatly enhances your gun’s reload speed when you reload while out of combat.

As always, Trials becomes available from Friday’s daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET until the weekly reset at the same time the following Tuesday. During that time, you can also pay a visit to Xur to see what Exotics he’s selling. Make sure to pay a visit to Saint-14 in the Tower to pick up a Trials card, which will dictate certain bonuses (such as whether you get bonus rewards at certain milestones or if a loss will be forgiven).

Trials of Osiris is a weekend PvP mode that runs from the daily reset on Friday until the weekly reset on Tuesday, giving you four days to take part. Your goal in the Trials is for you and the other two players in your fireteam to achieve a “Flawless” run, in which you win seven matches without losing any.

Go Flawless, and you’ll earn a trip to the Lighthouse and receive some special rewards, including the new Adept weapons. These have additional stat bonuses, making them among the most coveted items you can get your hands on.

Thanks to a bunch of changes to Trials this year, though, the mode is a little easier to get into than it has been. The Trials of Osiris now features matchmaking, so you can jump into matches even if you don’t have a full squad of three players to take it on. Your Trials Passage, the card you purchase from Saint-14 that grants you access to the mode and tracks your wins, now does not track your losses–so you can keep playing and earning rewards even if you lose out on a Flawless run. Bungie has also adjusted Trials so that you earn rewards based on the number of rounds, rather than matches, you’ve won during your session, and added a reputation system that’s similar to the Crucible and Gambit, making it easier to earn some of the Trials of Osiris’s unique loot.

Finally, you’ll earn Trials Engrams for participating in the mode, which you can cash in with Saint-14 during the weekend you receive them. You can tune those engrams to yield specific pieces of loot, or take your chances with random drops that will expand what’s available in your loot pool. So even if you’re just jumping into Trials alone, there are plenty of ways you can earn great new gear.

Developer Superbrothers and Pine Scented Software announced that Jett: The Far Shore will receive a free new expansion called Given Time in 2023. It takes place three years after the events of the game’s campaign.

“We’re thrilled to have another JETT campaign to offer. Given Time will continue and conclude Mei’s story while progressing and resolving key story threads that were left intentionally dangling at the end of The Far Shore” said Superbrothers founder Craig D. Adams in an official statement. “This new campaign is much more free-roaming and player-driven, we’re getting more out of our distinct ecosystem-puzzling and light survival systems this time out, but not to worry, we aren’t shy about having some cosmic prog rock spectacle in unexpected places.”

Anime Ed Sheeran–an unexpected combination of words–appears in Sheeran’s new music video Celestial. The song is made for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and will appear within the game.

In the music video, Sheeran does mundane activities (waking up, cooking, and walking around) with the aid of Pokemon. Squirtle puts out a kitchen fire. Machamp helps Sheeran move a piano. And of course, Pikachu’s a constant presence throughout–notably serving as an electrifying alarm clock. The music video flips between reality and 2D animation, eventually culminating in a scene where Sheeran looks like a gym leader, sending his team against the all-powerful Mewtwo.

We’ve teamed up with @edsheeran on a new track! ‘Celestial’ will be featured in #PokemonScarletViolet! 😍
