Twitch has announced a ban on some forms of online gambling on its platform amidst controversy around the subject. This ban comes shortly after several popular streamers threatened to boycott the streaming platform if it did not address the problems around streams dedicated to gambling.

Announced on Twitter, Twitch will be banning the streaming of online gambling, specifically websites that allow for unsanctioned slots, roulette, or dice games. This ban also prevents streamers from sharing sign-up links or codes for these websites to try and crack down on streamers sponsored by these companies. Twitch specifically said that Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet will be banned, with the list growing whenever the company identifies a new gambling website. Websites focused on sports betting, fantasy betting, and poker will continue to be allowed, however. The new rules take effect on October 18.

All of this comes after a streamer scammed people in order gamble off-stream. As reported by Kotaku, streamer Abraham “Sliker” Mohammed scammed both content creators and fans out of over $200,000 under the pretense that he was experiencing financial hardship. In an apology video, he admitted that it was lie in order to obtain more money to gamble.

This led to popular streamers Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo, and Devin Nash to begin coordinating a potential boycott of Twitch, until the platform took a stance against gambling and gambling sponsorships.

Streamers who stream online gambling and are sponsored by companies like Stake, like xQc and Trainwreck, have previously argued that only targeting specific gambling, like slots, roulette, and dice games, while allowing other types of gambling, like sports betting, to remain on the platform won’t solve the issue. In Twitch’s statement, it specified that the ban is focused on gambling sites that are unsanctioned in the United States.

Even though the main focus this month has been on AMD’s upcoming launch of its Ryzen 7000 desktop series processors based on the Zen 4 architecture, AMD is also in the process of launching its 7020 series of processors designed for entry-level mobile, codenamed Mendocino. It has launched four new SKUs for mobile, including two Ryzen series models and two Athlon variants, all based on its Zen 2 architecture.

As we learned in May, AMD’s Zen 2 based ‘Mendocino’ APUs are designed as part of its lower-end mobile processor stack for entry-level thin notebook and laptop solutions. The affordable APUs incorporate up to 4 Zen 2 CPU cores, as well as AMD’s integrated Radeon 610M graphics, all with a maximum TDP of 15W.

Focusing specifically on the AMD 7020 series APUs announced today, the top SKU is the Ryzen 5 7520U. Using AMD’s new Ryzen Mobile CPU numbering system, the 7520U is a model year 2023 chip under the Ryzen 5 series banner using its Zen 2 core architecture. The U suffix technically means 15-28W, but in this case AMD has confirmed that all of the current chips have a max TDP of 15W.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7520U benefits from a 2.8 GHz base frequency across its four cores, with a 1T boost frequency of up to 4.3 GHz. It also includes a total of 6MB of cache, split between 4MB of L3 and 2MB of L2 (512KB per core).

Moving down the stack is the Ryzen 3 7320U, which has four cores and eight threads but a base core clock speed of 2.4 GHz and a single core boost frequency of up to 4.1 GHz. Like the Ryzen 5 7520U, it also benefits from a combined cache of 6 MB across its L2/L3 cache structure.

Looking at the Athlon-branded 7020 series chips, the Athlon Gold 7220U offers two cores and four threads, with a base frequency of 2.4 GHz, a single core boost frequency of up to 3.7 GHz, and 5 MB of shared L2/L3 cache. The Athlon Silver 7120U is pretty much the Athlon Gold 7220U, but it has a slightly lower 1T boost frequency of 3.5 GHz and half as much L3 cache (for a total of 3MB instead of 5MB)

AMD Radeon 610M with two graphics cores for performance at the entry-level

All of today’s announced AMD’s Zen 2 Ryzen and Athlon 7020 series will support up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory in a dual-channel (64-bit) configuration, and feature two graphics cores/CUs based on its RNDA 2 technology, which AMD is branding the Radeon 610M integrated graphics chip. All four mobile APUs will also include a TDP of up to 15 W.

At the time of writing, AMD hasn’t revealed specific pricing aside from a total laptop price range of between $399 and $699. However, it has announced that its AMD Ryzen 7020 Series Ecosystem partners are Acer, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft, with notebooks featuring these chips expected to start appearing on retail shelves sometime in Q4 2022.

Lost Ark is receiving yet another new class in the form of the Machinist on September 28, and publisher Amazon has now detailed the various air strikes, bullet barrages, and futuristic weaponry players will soon be able to take for a spin.

The Machinist is the latest advanced class for the Gunner role, and as detailed in a new blog post, specializes in dealing damage from afar with the help of a high-tech drone. The class’s identity skill, Hypersync, decks out the player in a futuristic super-suit, further enhancing the Machinist’s abilities until its energy is drained.

When it comes to class engravings, players have two playstyles to build towards. The first, Evolutionary Legacy, emphasizes Hypersync mode, while the second, Arthentinean Skill, is all about increasing the effectiveness of drone-based skills.

The drone does truly look to be the star of the show, allowing Machinists to deal precision laser strikes from afar, use the drones to maneuver around the battlefield, and send a small army of self-destructing drones to a target location. Machinists can even use a drone as a Buster cannon, Mega Man-style.

There are two Awakening skills for the Machinist to choose between. One, appropriately named Air Strike, calls in a massive air strike at a target location, while the other, Final Explosion, sees the Machinist sacrificing their drone in order to deal a gigantic explosion. Not to worry, as a new Drone will immediately take its place, meaning Machinists never have to be without their flying death robot for long.

Machinist will arrive alongside Lost Ark’s second update for September, which will also introduce the new Kakul-Saydon Legion raid and special progression events. The free-to-play MMORPG’s previous patch brought improvements to the game’s Strongholds, balance changes, and various quality-of-life updates, while a summer-themed update in late August introduced the new Pet Ranch feature.

At Roblox our goal is always to support developers who love to experiment with new technology and want to push the boundaries of what exists on Roblox. And we found millions of talented creators from around the world who are building incredible experiences on the platform. From the visually breathtaking environments in Winds of Fortune leveraging our new Materials system to intense mystery and surprise in the beloved social horror game Secret Neighbor, we’ve been blown away by the creativity and technical innovation on display.

That’s why we’re contributing another $10 million to Game Fund—our international program dedicated to providing funding and support for creators who are looking to build the next generation of experiences on Roblox. For a handful of these ambitious creators, we are providing the funding they need to de-risk creation and guidance from strategy to conception.

The Next Generation of Roblox Experiences

With this $35 million fund, we’re looking for projects with innovative gameplay, ambitious visual designs, and creative ideas that are unlike anything else on the platform. Current Game Fund participants have wowed us with compelling cross-platform gameplay, engaging social mechanics, dynamic in-game avatars, and creative economic models.

Rolling Thunder, for example, continues to draw players in with its large-scale, high-fidelity environments, attracting 20 million visits to the player versus player (PvP) alpha and player versus environment (PvE) demo. Creators Jandel and Foryxe presented at the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) last weekend on how they found success and built player loyalty through rapid iteration with Game Fund. You can find the recording on our YouTube channel in the coming days.

With NVIDIA’s fall GTC event in full swing, the company touched upon the bulk of its core business in one way or another in this morning’s keynote. On the enterprise side of matters, one of the longest-awaited updates was the shipment status of NVIDIA’s H100 “Hopper” accelerator, which at introduction was slated to land in Q3 of this year. As it turns out, with Q3 already nearly over H100 is not going to make its Q3 availability date.
