Updates for Resident Evil 4 Remake have been nonexistent since the game was first unveiled back in June, but during the Capcom TGS 2022 Online Program, the game was confirmed for release on a new platform: PlayStation 4.

The PS4 version was excluded from the original announcement, which only confirmed the game for current generation consoles and PC. The game first featured during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast in early June, followed by a mention during Capcom’s last Online Program soon afterward.

RE4 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi made the announcement during a dedicated Resident Evil segment, which also gave updates on the upcoming Winters Expansion for Resident Evil Village. The DLC will include a new story chapter–Shadow of Rose–as well as a third-person mode and an expanded Mercenaries mode, featuring Lady Dimitrescu as a playable character.

Originally released in 2004, RE4 Remake will follow Leon Kennedy’s quest to save the president’s daughter after she was kidnapped by a dangerous cult. The game first launched on the GameCube before being ported to multiple consoles, including the Wii, PlayStation 2, PS3, and more.

Resident Evil 4 Remake will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on March 24. In other Resident Evil news, this week’s Nintendo Direct confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil 7, and the aforementioned Village will all be coming to Switch via cloud versions.

Halo Infinite players can pick up some new cosmetic DLC right now in the form of bunny ears. Following from the cat ear DLC released in 2021, 343 Industries is releasing even bigger ears now.

“Head over to the Shop to outfit your Spartan with an Armor FX that will make you known–nay, feared–across the galaxy. Don the holographic bunny ears of Marlin T. Buckets and become imbued with a force greater than the Precursors’ own neural physics…,” 343 said.

The new bunny ear DLC in Halo Infinite is out now

The cat ear DLC, which cost $10, proved to be very popular among Halo Infinite players, so it’ll be interesting to see how the community reacts to the bunny ears.

Also new to Halo Infinite this week is the Parasite Ichor visor, which players can unlock after they complete all challenges and the Ultimate challenge. Here is what it looks like:

Halo Infinite’s The Yappening event is going now now through September 20. In addition to the new cosmetic items, players can check out the Methane Menagerie playlist to take part in 12v12 Big Team Fiesta, while everyone gets a free event pass that comes with “ten whimsical rewards.”

In other Halo Infinite news, 343’s top boss, Bonnie Ross, has left the company and Microsoft entirely. 343’s technical development lead David Berger is on the way out as well.

Additionally, Halo Infinite’s couch co-op mode has been canceled as 343 pushes forward with live-service content instead. The game’s biggest update to date, the Winter Update, arrives in November ahead of Season 3: Echoes Within in March 2023.

After a year of being a PS5 console-exclusive, Deathloop is officially headed to Xbox Series X|S this month. Microsoft announced at the Tokyo Game Show that the critically acclaimed game will arrive on its current-gen system on September 20 and will feature a number of upgrades, tweaks, and a new extended ending.

These extras will also be added to the PS5 and PC versions of the game, but Xbox fans can grab a pre-load right now for Deathloop. The Golden Loop update will add new enemies, a new weapon to experiment with, and cross-platform matchmaking for PvP.

While Deathloop won multiple game of the year awards in 2021–and a rare 10/10 score in GameSpot’s Deathloop review–its sudden ending was seen as one of the few flaws in its otherwise excellent design. The extended conclusion will aim to rectify that fault when the game receives its Golden Loop update.

PlayStation fans who haven’t had a chance to try out Arkane’s excellent time-traveling first-person shooter won’t be left out either, as Deathloop will be coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers on September 20.

In addition to that, Microsoft also announced a few other titles that will be headed to Game Pass. Fighting game fans can look forward to Guilty Gear Strive and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle–two excellent anime brawlers designed by Arc System Works–in Spring 2023, as well as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Ni No Kuni Remastered, and Danganronpa V3 from today on PC and console.

Billed as a way to “deliver more content to the game, more regularly, all while helping more players than ever before experience the Overwatch universe,” Overwatch 2’s pivot to a battle pass model marks a big change for the series. While the original Overwatch provided players with free updates so long as they owned the game, and gave players the option to purchase Loot Boxes when longing for cosmetic changes, Overwatch 2 is adopting a free-to-play model and doing away with the chance-based reward system. While these changes are exciting–and after reviewing them, I believe they will genuinely benefit players–they do raise a lot of questions. Fortunately, Blizzard has now shed some light on what this all means.

A seasonal model

Starting with the release of Overwatch 2 on October 4, the game will enter a seasonal model that will deliver a unique theme and over 80 tiers of new content to the game every nine weeks. This new content can then be attained by the player through a battle pass.

With this seasonal model, you can count on major patches and updates rolling out every nine weeks. Additionally, a new hero or map will arrive every nine weeks on a rotating basis.

Also updated with the seasons is the Overwatch shop, which will feature a new “Just For You” section tailored with items related to the heroes you most frequently play as. The shop is also where you can purchase the Premium Battle Pass. However, before you pick one up, let’s talk about the game’s free battle pass. That’s right. Free.

How the battle pass screen will look.

The free battle pass

At the start of each season, all players will get a new, free battle pass. For those unfamiliar with battle pass systems, battle passes essentially reward players for playing the game–and completing the occasional challenge, like killing enemies with a certain hero or accomplishing a tricky feat. So, as you play the game over the course of a season’s nine weeks, you’ll chip away at your battle pass and earn exclusive rewards. And the rewards included as part of the basic battle pass are pretty sweet.

For starters, every new hero introduced in Overwatch 2 will be available via the free battle pass. However, these new heroes will debut at Tier 55 of the free pass, so expect to put in a bit of time to earn them. As such, new heroes–starting with Kiriko–will not show up in Competitive modes at the start of a season. According to Blizzard, the purpose for this is two-fold. Firstly, it gives their team time to monitor the hero and make necessary adjustments. Secondly, it gives free track players the chance to unlock and learn the new hero before they have to face off against them.

The free battle pass will also include a couple legendary skins, weapon charms, souvenirs, a highlight intro, and additional items like emotes. Here is a complete list of Season 1’s battle pass inclusions as an example:

Newest support hero, Kiriko2 Legendary Skins2 Weapon Charms2 Souvenirs1 Highlight Intro15 additional items (list types, emotes, etc)

However, if you’re looking for even more rewards, you can pick up the premium battle pass.

The premium battle pass

First things first, the premium battle pass costs players 1,000 Overwatch coins–which translates into $10 USD. These coins can be purchased directly or earned by completing weekly challenges, meaning you theoretically could get a premium battle pass for free.

The premium battle pass features over 80 tiers to unlock, and will give you access to any new heroes instantly. It will also give you access to a 15% XP battle pass boost, a mythic skin, epic skin, legendary skins, new Play of the Game intros, and much more. Here is a complete list of Season 1’s premium battle pass inclusions as an example:

Immediate access to Kiriko15% XP Battle Pass Boost1 Mythic Skin5 Legendary Skins2 Epic Skins3 Play of the Game Intros4 Weapon Charms3 Emotes3 Souvenirs6 Poses

If you decide to purchase the premium battle pass in the middle of a season, all previously earned tier rewards will be unlocked. If you complete all tiers of your premium battle pass, you’ll continue to progress through Prestige tiers, which reward you with unique names to equip on your name card

An image of how the challenges screen will look.

What if I miss a season?

While some items will be locked to certain seasons, rest assured that all players can earn all past heroes at any time. Heroes from past seasons can be earned through weekly challenges, or directly purchased in the shop with Overwatch Coins.

How does PvE fit into all of this? Will I be locked out of certain events if I don’t have a character?

These are great questions that we haven’t gotten answers to yet! PvE is coming to Overwatch 2 in 2023, so by that point we should have more information regarding how this will all work. Be sure to check back often for more updates.

While crunch has often been spun as a necessary evil in developing video games, one of the industry’s biggest companies is taking a stand against it. Embracer Group, which came into the spotlight earlier this year after a massive round of acquisitions, has shared a video from one of its studio’s HR heads explaining why crunch in the games industry should be a thing of the past.

The video comes from Dambuster Studios, the developers behind Dead Island 2, which is due to release soon, on February 3, 2023. As the studio enters what may be considered a crunch period at other studios, Dambuster’s HR head Helen Haynes has shared why she thinks crunch shouldn’t be necessary.

Coming from working HR in other industries, Haynes explains that plenty of other industries work to deliver projects on important deadlines without having to resort to “ridiculous” crunch practices. “The games industry is not that special,” she says, denouncing crunch as a “right of passage, ego, machoismic rubbish [that] doesn’t have to happen.”

Haynes says that many of the techniques used to manage such punishing deadlines in other industries can and will work in game development, but still encourages studio HR to take into account the unique needs of the industry.

As for how studios can safeguard against crunch, Haynes has a few suggestions. One is for the industry to invest more in counselling for its employees rather than arbitrary disciplinary action, to safeguard workers’ mental health. Haynes also calls out the higher levels of the industry, saying that managers and leaders need to be better looking after their teams.

With a huge number of studios under the Embracer Group, including Gearbox Entertainment, Crystal Dynamics, the THQ Nordic group, and more, it’s heartening to see the company taking a public stand against crunch. In recent years the term has become less associated with bragging rights and more with poor working conditions. Embracer subsidary Gearbox is another studio that has publicly rejected crunch, saying that the practice was never required from devs working on Borderlands 3.

Bob Marley’s World Tour is a mobile rhythm game that lets players perform Marley’s music and manage his band’s progression to stardom. The game is being developed by LBC Studios, who focus on making games about the rapidly expanding culture of legalized cannabis–however, their Marley game doesn’t have any mention of weed in it.

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, studio founder Solon Bucholtz has explained why the game about Rastafarian icon Bob Marley is their first not to feature any kind of marijuana. Their previous games are Hempire, a weed-growing management sim, and Tasty Buds, a match three game that sees players creating new strains of cannabis.

It was their success with these games that led to a partnership with Marley Merchandising, the company that licences Bob Marley’s image, for the development of Bob Marley’s World Tour, but everyone involved decided that, in this case, it would be better to leave cannabis out of the picture.

“When we decided to develop the Marley game, we wanted to make sure we were building a game not just for Marley fans and music fans, but really gamers alike,” Bucholtz explained. “And we wanted to make sure it was accessible to as many as possible. One of the challenges we faced with Hempire is there are countries where we aren’t able to distribute that game, strictly based on the content.”

LBC’s game Hempire is rated M, restricting it to audiences over 17 years old, while Bob Marley’s World Tour has received a rating of E for everyone, showing the impact drug references can have on a game’s rating. Concerns about drug references in games also impact where and how the game can be advertised, an issue which has impacted LBC’s previous games.

Despite the exclusion of any themes involving marijuana, Bucholtz still believes they’ve been able to honor Marley’s legacy with the upcoming mobile game.

“It’s a question we’ve discussed with the family and internally as well,” he explained. “Although there are some aspects of cannabis that obviously were very important to Bob and his beliefs, I don’t think that’s the driving force. And we put enough emphasis on many of the other areas Bob is remembered for today and has a meaningful impact on today in the game that that omission isn’t a negative result in the overall experience or the authenticity we’re delivering.”

One of the appeals of Disney Dreamlight Valley is getting to live in the same village as a bunch of Disney and Pixar characters. However, early on in the game there are only a handful of characters living in the Valley. In order to populate the Valley with all of the Disney characters you will need to complete a variety of quests and tasks to bring them back. Here’s how to unlock all characters currently in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Merlin

Merlin from The Sword in the Stone is the first character you will meet after beginning Disney Dreamlight Valley. The wizard is available from the moment you start the game.

Wall-E

Wall-E is one of the few Pixar representatives in Disney Dreamlight Valley currently.

Wall-E, the lovable Pixar robot, can be invited to the Valley by entering his realm once you unlock the Magic Castle. It costs Dreamlight to enter his realm. After meeting Wall-E, you will need to complete a quest for him, which involves cleaning up garbage cubes, planting some plants, and acquiring some knick-knacks for him. After placing his home, he will move to the Valley.

Moana

Moana can be found in her realm, which is unlocked by spending Dreamlight. On Moana’s island, you will need to collect some items around the area to help Moana repair her ship. Together, you will need to search nearby areas on her ship to find a good fishing spot for her village. After finding a good fishing spot, Moana can be brought to the Valley by placing her house in the Valley, preferably on the beach.

Maui

Both Moana and Maui can be found in Moana’s Realm.

Maui can also be found in Moana’s realm. Maui cannot be invited to the island until after Moana has already relocated. You will need to bring him a couple specific dishes that Moana tells you that Maui enjoys. After bringing him the dishes and clearing out some of the blue-green shells on the island. After completing these tasks, he will ask you to place his home in the Valley–more specifically, directly in the ocean.

Remy

Remy can be unlocked by heading into the Magic Castle and heading to the Ratatouille realm. Remy will tell you that he is too busy with his restaurant to come to the Valley, but if you help him out, he will go. You will be tasked with making the dishes for a three-course meal. Remy will give you two meal options for each course and verbally tell you what ingredients to use for each dish. If you are struggling, check out our full recipe guide. To complete the quest you will need to make Ratatouille for the critic, just like in the movie.

Remy does not give you the recipe for Ratatouille, which you can see in our guide if you are struggling to complete the dish. After that you just need to set up Remy’s home somewhere in the Valley and he will move in.

Ariel

Ariel can be found on an island nearby the Valley.

In order to unlock Ariel and Prince Eric, you will first need to complete “The Mysterious Wreck” quest for Goofy. This quest can be started once you have unlocked Dazzle Beach. Head to the small island in the southeastern part of Dazzle Beach. The island appears to be separated by water, but it’s shallow enough for you to walk across. On the southern part of the island there is a shipwreck and you can find an oar in the area. Finding the oar will start the quest. After speaking with Goofy he will task you with repairing the ship, which requires 30 Hardwood, seven Rope, 25 Clay, and 10 Iron Ingots. Craft the ship, repair it and speak with Goofy to repair the ship.

Once fixed, use the ship to travel to a different island where you will find Ariel in the water off the beach. Ariel will tell you that she can’t return to the Valley because she can’t sense which way it is because it doesn’t feel like home. Return to the Valley and build Ariel a home on the beach, at which point she will move to the Valley.

Prince Eric

Prince Eric will likely be one of the last characters you unlock due to needing to max Ursula’s friendship.

After getting Ariel back in the Valley and reaching friendship level three with her, she will tell you that she has been having trouble locating Prince Eric because everybody has forgotten him. She tasks you with speaking to Merlin, Maui, and Kristoff to find out more information. The quest might pan out differently depending on who you speak with first. I spoke with Kristoff, who had me grab some records from his home. These indicated that Eric was in a shipwreck, so Kristoff has you go fish for clues near the small island where you repaired the ship.

Look for a gold fishing spot and fish for a sculpture head and return to Ariel with it. She will have you return to Kristoff to try and find the other pieces of the statue. You will need to grab one statue piece from Kirstoff’s home and ask Donald Duck about the other pieces. He will tell you one is buried near water in the Glade of Trust and that Scrooge has the others. Scrooge will want five Peridots in exchange for the statue piece.

After acquiring both of those statue pieces, talk to Ariel. She will give you superglue and you

can repair the statue at a crafting bench. Once assembled, place the statue near the staircase connecting the Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach. This will drop a memory, showing Ursula and Prince Eric talking. Talk to Ariel and that will complete this part of the quest.

Once that is complete you will need to reach the max level of friendship with Ursula. Since she can’t assist with tasks, you will need to give her gifts to reach this level. The daily favorite gifts offer the most, but flowers give a consistent amount, although it’s fairly low. Once you reach level 10, Ursula asks you to head to the Forgotten Lands and retrieve the Dark Crystal from the ruins there. Grab it and return it to Ursula.

You will need to find three more of these Dark Crystals. The first one can be found in the northeastern corner of the Frosted Heights. The second one can be found in the Sunlit Plateau on the western side near the pond. If you have not cleared the bridges, this area can be reached via the Forgotten Lands. The third can be found in the Glade of Trust, near the front of Mother Gothel’s house. Head back to the Forgotten Lands and place all four crystals on the pedestals in the northern part of the area. A new crystal will appear to the south of the pedestals, pick it up and return to Ursula.

Ursula will give you Poor Unfortunate Eric and tell you to fix him yourself, which kicks off Prince Eric’s quest. Head to Ariel, who sends you to Merlin to find a solution. From here, Merlin has you build Prince Eric’s castle, search it for a personal item, and have Ariel kiss Prince Eric to return him to normal. Once complete, Prince Eric will enter the village via the wishing well in the Plaza.

Ursula

Ursula can be unlocked by heading to Dazzle Beach, the southernmost biome in the Valley. Once open, Merlin will task you with restoring the orb to its pillar in the area, to fight off the Forgettening. This will have you enter a nearby cave where you meet Ursula. Ursula isn’t unlocked however until you get the orb and return to the pillar.

In order to do this, you will need to retrieve the orb from another cave nearby, which requires you to solve three riddles in the “With Great Power…” quest. If you are struggling to complete the riddles, check out GameSpot’s guide for the “With Great Power…” quest. Once the quest is complete and the pillar restored, Ursula will be free from the cave.

Anna

Anna can be found in the Frozen Realm, located on the second floor of the Magic Castle. Inside the Frozen Realm you will immediately run into Anna, who needs your help calming the elemental spirits in the area. You will need to put out fires and chase down the fire spirit. After that you will need to make rock soup for the earth giant. After that, head forward to find Elsa on the opposite side of a raging river. You will need to fish some metal out of a nearby pond to calm the spirit.

After that you will need to assist Elsa in calming the wind spirit by crafting three windchimes to place on trees in the realm. After placing the windchimes, the spirits will relax and Anna agrees to move to the Valley.

Elsa

You can convince Elsa to move to the Valley once Anna already has.

In order to get Elsa to move to the Valley you will need to complete Anna’s first quest once she moves to the Valley. Anna will want to inspect a nearby ice cavern as a potential home for Elsa, but there are wooden stumps blocking the path. You will need to upgrade your shovel to clear these stumps, which requires 10 Softwood, four Hardwood, four Iron Ingots, and three Tinkering Parts. Once collected you will craft the upgrade at a crafting bench and use it to upgrade the shovel.

Using the shovel in the Forest of Valor, clear a path to the Ice Cavern. You will need to take a picture of it and Anna will write a letter to Elsa for you to deliver. Return to the Frozen Realm and deliver the letter, which will prompt Elsa to move to the Valley.

Kristoff

Kristoff can be found in the Forest of Valor, one of the unlockable biomes. This is located to the east of the plaza and northeast of Dazzle Beach. Once you unlock the Forest of Valor, you can find Kristoff standing near a portal, near the Pillar in the southern part of the area. Once you talk to him, you will start the quest to restore the orb in the Forest of Valor and unlock Kristoff as a friend.

Mother Gothel

Mother Gothel can be found in the Glade of Trust, a swamp-like biome in the southwestern part of the Valley. In the center of the Glade of Trust is a large tree, which is also Mother Gothel’s house. Head inside and speak with her. She will reveal that she used dark magic to create a spell to trap someone inside their home and it backfired, trapping her in her home. Since you entered her home, you let the magic out.

This unlocks Mother Gothel as a character in the Valley, although her magic will lock some characters in their homes temporarily, until you continue on and finish her quest.

Donald Duck

Donald Duck can be found in the Forest of Valor. Specifically, Donald is inside the Dark Grove, which can be traveled to via the portal near Kristoff as part of the main quest in this area. After entering the portal, you will need to speak with Merlin for a solution to save Donald.

You will combine four dream shards, two emeralds, Donald’s Feather, and a plant from the Dark Grove. This creates an Enchanted Feather. Return to the Dark Grove and follow the feather as it floats. You need to follow it perfectly and if you take a wrong turn, you will need to start from scratch. You will find Donald at the end of the Dark Grove and return him to the Valley.

Goofy

Goofy is already living in the Valley at the start of the game, but you will need to progress through the tutorial a bit before you meet him. Late in the tutorial you will unlock the Peaceful Meadow, where Goofy’s first stall and house is located. After opening this area, you will meet Goofy and be tasked with repairing his stall by paying Scrooge.

Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse is in the Valley from the start. To meet Mickey, all you need to do is clear the Night Thorns from in front of his home. Once cleared, head inside and you can meet the iconic mouse.

Minnie Mouse

The ethereal version of Minnie can be spotted around the Valley early in the game.

Unlocking Minnie Mouse will require you to level up your friendship with Mickey and complete several of his quests. While Mickey will give you several tasks before she is unlocked, Minnie is unlocked during the “Memory Magnification” quest, which is unlocked at friendship level 8 with Mickey. The basic story is that Minnie is still present in the village, but she has been forgotten. This results in her wandering the village as an ethereal being.

The “Memory Magnification” quest will require you to collect an Emerald, two pieces of Hardwood, and six Tinkering Parts, which you will combine with Minnie’s Bow to create the Dreamlight Magnifier. This will stabilize Minnie briefly, at which point she says she needs an anchor in the Valley, which is her house. Talk to Mickey, who gives you the plans. Place them in the Village and pay Scrooge 5,000 Coins to build the house. This returns Minnie to the Valley, unlocking her and her friendship.

Scrooge McDuck

Scrooge is also living in the Valley from the very beginning. He can be found standing outside his closed store early in the game. You will need to assist him in reopening his store by making some coins by selling items to Goofy.

Another leak for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile points to the return of Verdansk, having up to 120 player lobbies, and shared battle pass progression with Modern Warfare II. While this information had been previously leaked, a second source provides further evidence that Verdansk could be returning for Warzone Mobile.

As reported by Leakers On Duty, some people have been able to access the Warzone Mobile store listing on the Google Play Store, which has a bunch of information about the upcoming mobile release. The store listing states that Verdansk, the original Warzone map that was swapped out upon the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, will be in the mobile version.

The leaked store listing also includes information about the shared progression between Warzone Mobile and Modern Warfare II. The games will reportedly share progression across the gunsmith and battle pass, similar to Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. It does not explicitly state if Warzone Mobile will have shared progression with the current Warzone or the upcoming Warzone 2.

Another part of the store listing states that Warzone Mobile will support up to 120 real players in a match. A different part mentions having the lowest bot count out of any mobile battle royales, so the total player count for each match could be higher.

All of this information had leaked previously via the source code for the Warzone Mobile website, so more signs are pointing to the return of Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Activision recently revealed that Project Aurora is the upcoming Warzone Mobile.

The settings in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta on PS5 reportedly contains an option that refers to a third-person mode. The settings reportedly contain a separate FOV slider for third-person mode, suggesting that the game might have third-person game modes.

As reported by CharlieIntel, the Modern Warfare 2 beta includes a setting option for “3rd Person Field of View” which appears under the regular FOV slider option. It was also reported that there are mentions of a launcher for Call of Duty in the beta on PS5, although it’s unclear exactly what this is in reference to.

While none of the recent Call of Duty games have included the option to play in third-person, the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 did have multiple third-person playlists as part of its multiplayer options. These screenshots are coming from players who have downloaded the Modern Warfare 2 beta prior to its actual launch on September 16, so it’s unknown if this option will appear in the final version of the beta settings menu. The beta will also become available on Xbox and PC on September 22, which will be the first opportunity to see if the setting option appears on other platforms.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Activision will be sharing more information about the game during its Call of Duty Next livestream on September 15.

Destiny 2‘s Season of Plunder features a new style of quest that involves solving pirate riddles to hunt down buried treasure. You’ll need to rank up the Star Chart seasonal vendor a fair bit before you begin getting into these, but once you do, you’ll receive a Small Treasure Beacon, which kicks off a quest called Cryptic Quatrains I. (Completing the Small Treasure Beacon quest is one of the Week 2 seasonal challenges, giving you even more reason to complete it.) Here’s how to complete it and the following quest, Cryptic Quatrains II, which begins once you reach Rank 10 and get the Medium Treasure Beacon, and Cryptic Quatrains III, which begins at Rank 16 and you get the Large Treasure Beacon.

How pirate riddles work

For better or worse, these riddles are mostly very obvious, although a few can get tricky. Each step of the quest will present you with a riddle, but certain words in each sentence will be highlighted in yellow–those words strongly hint at where you need to go and what you need to do.

The steps will lead you from one location to another and, ultimately, the buried treasure. It’s unclear at this point if the rewards are randomized at all, but in our case, the first quest provided glimmer, a Resonant version of one of the seasonal weapons (No Reprieve), five Map Fragments, and a Crude Cipher Fragment. You’ll receive another of these Crude Cipher Fragments from the second Cryptic Quatrains quest but won’t be able to use it until you complete the third and final of these quests.

Below, we’ve outlined the steps involved with solving all three treasure beacons–the Small Treasure Beacon, which is a reward for reaching Rank 7 at the Star Chart, the Medium Treasure Beacon, which you get at Rank 10, and the Large Treasure Beacon, received at Rank 16. You can increase your Star Chart rank by earning Savvy through the seasonal Ketchcrash and Expedition missions.

Cryptic Quatrains I

Step 1

After receiving the Small Treasure Beacon, you’ll receive the Cryptic Quatrains I quest. The first step’s riddle reads thusly (with bolded text in place of the yellow-highlighted words displayed in-game):

Me story begins as I hide from the crews

They search and will find me unless I hide soon

I’ll wait on the nightfall, the cleverest ruse

And force them to hunt by the light of the moon

The solution here is simple: head to the Moon.

Step 2

The entrance to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector on the Moon

Once you’ve arrived, the next riddle is presented:

Behind in the harbor, their sorrow was release

They lost what I’d taken, me heart filled with fear

From cruel revelation the dawn would reveal

A chest, broke and barren, and me nowhere near

Piece those words together and you’re being asked to head to the Sorrow’s Harbor area on the Moon, which is home to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector. Load in at the Sorrow’s Harbor landing zone and make your way into the Lost Sector, which you can see labeled on your in-game map (the entrance is pictured above if you’re having trouble finding it). Complete it as normal, and the chest at the end will complete this step.

Step 3

Once you’ve completed the Lost Sector, you’ll get this riddle:

Me eyes toward the cosmos, I let out a sob

I begged to the gods and the fallen alike

By bullet or saber, I’d fall to the mob

But please, let me deal them a palpable strike

This is directing you to complete the Fallen SABER Strike in the Cosmodrome. You can boot directly into it by viewing the Cosmodrome in the Director and selecting the appropriate node, which you’ll see in the upper-right corner, near the Forgotten Shore. Complete the Strike to finish this step.

Step 4

Look for this crane just in front of you when spawning in

Finally, we arrive at the step that might cause some confusion. Here’s the riddle:

The winds of Europa were frozen and white

And even the tides had been stopped by the cold

The hook would swing empty, I’d not die tongiht

By cranes they’d be searchin’, but I’d keep me gold

Clearly, you’re being directed to Europa’s Eventide Ruins area, but there are a number of cranes to be found. Fortunately, you don’t need to go far. As soon as you load into the Eventide landing zone, you should see two cranes directly in front of you. The closer of the two isn’t holding anything. Move to just under where the crane’s hook is hanging, and you should see a lump of snow marked with a green symbol (pictured below), much like you’d see at the end of an Expedition. Dig up the treasure to complete the quest.

The first buried treasure on Europa

Cryptic Quatrains II

Step 1

Once you reach Rank 10 with the Star Chart, you can visit it to receive the Medium Treasure Beacon. That will kick off the Cryptic Quatrains II quest, which works much like the first one. Here’s the first riddle:

The bay filled me chest, although drown I did not

I coughed and I shivered me way through the mist

They dreamed I was lost, my sad scarper for naught

Yet all that I wished for was tight in me fist

This is leading you to the Dreaming City, where you need to complete the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector. The entrance to this is conveniently located right next to your landing zone in Divalian Mists.

Step 2

Once the Lost Sector is completed, you get your next riddle, which is again fairly straightforward:

I swore I was dead at the shore of the lake

Their shadows stretched long as they searched the debris

But though they did strike out at me and me take

Their words found me ears, but they didn’t find me

This one is directing you to the EDZ, where you need to complete the Lake of Shadows Strike. When you pick the EDZ from the Director, you can find the node for the Strike in the bottom-right corner.

Step 3

Next up is a riddle that ties into one of the new seasonal activities:

Me long expedition led to no reward

Me bones cried for rest and yet I could not yield

Lest I hear the sound of a crewmate’s drawn sword

I shivered with terror at what they might wield

For this step, you need to complete an Expedition while using a sword. Simply equip any sword in your Power weapon slot, launch into an Expedition (available from the HELM’s Director screen), and play through it to the end.

Step 4

The spot to investigate inside the Well of Flame

Now we start to get into slightly more complex steps, as you’ll need to figure out what location you’re being directed to with this riddle:

The red ground of Nessus would soon be me grave

A column reached high into alien hue

Though cistern did beckon, no water it gave

At pyramid’s imprint, I sought to pass through

The spot is just inside the Well of Flame’s eastern entrance.

While it’s clear enough you want to spawn in at the landing zone for The Cistern on Nessus, the specific location may not immediately ring a bell. Make your way to the Well of Flame (marked on your map), and along the east side (which you should approach if you’re coming from the landing zone), you’ll see a series of platforms that take you up and inside the structure. Make your way up, and just inside the doorway, you’ll find a buried treasure spot. Dig it up, but you’re not done yet.

Step 5

The broken sphere is not exactly a major landmark.

This is where things may get quite tough for you, thanks to this riddle:

Me crewmates were nearing, t’was just as I feared

And terrible fluid did fall from the sky

I fancied I noticed, beyond broken sphere,

A place that was safe for me treasure and I

The final location is not far from the previous step.

This riddle leads you to the final treasure spot of this quest, and if you’d rather not spend literal hours searching for it (bless you for respecting your time), here’s what to do: Exit the Well of Flame or otherwise make your way to The Cistern on Nessus once again, and then head to the northwestmost point of the region. Right near where the Cabal Public Event typically takes place, you’ll find a small broken sphere. Just to the side of it, you’ll find the hidden treasure to dig up. Among other rewards, you’ll receive a second Crude Cipher Fragment, but you’ll need to complete the next quest in order to actually make use of it.

Cryptic Quatrains III

Step 1

Once you’ve leveled up the Star Chart to Rank 16, you can get the final piece of this puzzle: the Large Treasure Beacon. This kicks off the Cryptic Quatrains III quest, which works much like the previous ones. Here’s the first riddle:

…was I still alive? Still not dead, as I dreamed?

Me treasure not sunken, not lost in the deep?

They’d caught not their quarry, I would be redeemed

And bury me knife in their chests while they sleep

This is slightly less direct than some previous riddles, but the objective is still fairly easy. You want to head to the EDZ’s Sunken Isles area and enter The Quarry Lost Sector. This is located just in front of you when you spawn in at the landing zone, to the left, at the base of the large cliff. Complete the Lost Sector and open the chest at the end to move on.

Step 2

After opening the Lost Sector chest, you’ll get this riddle:

I waded ashore after crashin’ their ship

Me takin’ their treasure they’d never forgive

Me exodus doubtless curled many a lip

I’d make them forget I had one life to live

For this objective, you need to complete the Exodus Crash Strike located on Nessus. You can load right into it from the Nessus map, but as the end of the riddle suggests, you need to avoid dying. Equip whatever loadout is best-suited to survivability and complete the Strike to move on–and be careful of all those exploding shanks you’ll encounter.

Step 3

After the Strike, you’ll receive this riddle:

They cursed as their catch crashed away through the trees

I moved as if lightnin’ did arc through me bones

I felt like the maker had answered my pleas

While handy with cannons, they left ’em back home

This again might seem vague, but all you need to do is complete a round of Ketchcrash with two things equipped: your Arc subclass and any hand cannon.

Step 4

Up next is a very quick step based on this riddle:

Alone with me atlas and treasure at last

I use me crude dagger to cut out a code

This cipher I’ll place where it’s held safe and fast

Two beacons will guide you if treasure you’re owed

From your Quests screen, inspect your Captain’s Atlas, just as you would to forge any treasure map for the Expedition activity. The previously un-craftable Crude Cipher will now be available, so select that to move on.

Step 5

This riddle is also a quick one that doesn’t require you to go anywhere:

I crept out at dust, left me treasure behind

And found me old crew and the captain as well

I’m light with a blade and me right hand’s unkind

They’ll find their salvation dead-center in hell

After crafting the Crude Cipher, three additional boxes will pop up in the Captain’s Atlas. Each of these allows you to choose from three options, and the riddle is telling you in which order to do them: Dusk goes in the left box, Salvation in the center, and Light on the right.

Step 6

You probably never even noticed this ship, did you?

The final two riddles will actually require you to hunt down specific locations and are most likely where you may get tripped up. First is this:

The cosmos had set me ashore, I was free

Forgotten at last, me heart empty of hate

On deck of the vessel that pointed to sea

I leaned on the mast and awaited me fate

You’ll need to head to the Cosmodrome’s Forgotten Shore for this step. There’s no landing zone here, so you’ll have to make your way there from the north end of the Cosmodrome. (If you’re having trouble, you can wait for a Public Event in the Forgotten Shore and then add a waypoint to it to guide you there.) When you arrive, you’ll see a few prominent ships, but the one you want is at the far end of the area, near the Veles Labyrinth Lost Sector entrance. Hop aboard the small ship pictured above to find a clearly marked spot just in front of the mast.

It’s one of the smaller ships that you need to head to

Step 7

You’re finally at the end with one final location hunt based on this riddle:

I took all I had, placed it safe in a cave

Where stream joins its mother by pillars of three

It’s yours if you like, for you’re clever and brave

You may find me treasure…but never find me

This riddle doesn’t provide a great deal of detail, but fortunately, you don’t have far to go–the treasure is nearby on the Cosmodrome. Head northwest until you see the cliff pictured above, which has three pillars located in front of it. Go inside, dig up the treasure, and you’re done.

This location isn’t far from the previous step

Rewards: Charge of Light Exotic Sparrow

While you’ll receive assorted loot and items for completing each of these quests, the primary reward is reserved for finishing the third and final quest: the Exotic sparrow Charge of Light. This is a brand-new sparrow, and completing these quests is your only means of obtaining it.
