Netgear has been at the forefront of the SDVoE (Software-Defined Video over Ethernet) initiative with multiple AV switches serving the growing market. The ProAV lineup of managed switches have been sold primarily in a B2B setting by the Netgear Business division. These switches are increasingly becoming part of luxury residential installations requiring an AV-over-IP solution. As part of the CEDIA Expo 2022, Netgear is announcing a new ‘Netgear Home Solutions’ push. The intention is to take the same lineup of Netgear AV products sold by Netgear Business and target it towards both commercial and residential installations.

As part of this initiative, Netgear will be selling ProAV Managed Switches and ProWiFi Access Points to residential installers, along with the Pro version of Insight Remote Management and Pro Support. While the ProAV Managed Switches are already in the market, the new WAX628 and WAX638E APs are complementary to the currently existing members of the Insight Access Point Portfolio.

The WAX628 (already available for residential installers) slots in-between the dual-band AX3600 WAX620 and the tri-band AX6000 WAX630. This AX5400 dual-band solution supports 160 MHz channel bandwidth, and is accompanied by the AX7800 WAX638E which adds 6 GHz band support to the mix. The Wi-Fi 6E AP is slated to come to the market in the next few months.

Netgear is promising margin protection for installers by selling the ProAV and ProWiFi products only through the channel and not via Amazon or other e-tailers. Since these products are going to reach end-consumers through custom installers who have their own cost structures, the lack of any pricing information from Netgear is not surprising.

Netgear’s traditional consumer Wi-Fi router market has evolved rapidly over the last few years. Despite the success of Orbi (in both the consumer and SMB markets), new entrants like eero have gained significant mind and market share. In this context, Netgear has to look towards services and expand into new markets in order to maintain and build upon their technical leadership. Forays into lucrative niches like the residential installer market are not surprising.

The new bundle comes with a digital voucher for Modern Warfare 2’s Cross-Gen bundle. Though you’ll have to wait a month to get your PS5, this is a good way to secure a PlayStation 5 just in time for the latest Call of Duty.

Those who opt for the Modern Warfare 2 bundle will have the console just in time for the biggest PlayStation exclusive of the year: God of War Ragnarok. You should also check out our roundup of the best PS5 games so you have more to play than just Call of Duty when your console arrives.

Developer HoYoverse has announced that it will hold a live Genshin Impact concert on October 2, with the event being globally broadcast on the game’s official YouTube channel. A collection of Genshin Impact soundtracks will be played by Neon Genesis Evangelion composer Shiro Sagisu and several musicians from around the globe, in their original and adapted forms.

Genshin Impact’s music is primarily orchestral, and fans can expect to hear tracks from the Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru regions of the game. Original music will be performed by the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Eímear Noone, an Irish conductor who has composition credits in big Blizzard games such as Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo III, and has conducted multiple Legend of Zelda concerts.

“Creating music for Genshin Impact has always been an endless exploration for me and the HoYo-MiX team,” music producer Yu-Peng Chen said in a press statement. “In the past year, as Inazuma and Sumeru unfolded, we’ve strived to enrich the Genshin Impact music with inspirations drawn from all over the world. I’m excited to see how these soundtracks resonate with musicians and players across the world.”

In other Genshin Impact news, the King Deshret and the Three Magi update will transport players to the Sumeru desert. Rift Raids will see players fighting through three levels of Fractured enemies–Minion, Sentinel, and Gatekeeper–in order to unlock Rift Tiers. Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Pawel Sasko has spoken about the game’s recent resurgence, almost two years after it first launched. On his personal Twitch channel, Sasko spoke candidly about Cyberpunk 2077’s turbulent launch in late 2020 and how it was “unreal” to recently see record numbers of players exploring Night City.

“It’s hard to express, you know? When you’re putting so much heart and soul into something, for some of us it’s been six, seven, eight years sometimes, especially for those who started at the very beginning,” Sasko said (via Reddit). “To have this moment, of people liking something that we did, is really feeling a bit unreal. That finally people are appreciating it. It’s good to be back, it’s f***ing good to be back, honestly.”

Cyberpunk 2077’s initial launch period was highlighted by game-breaking bugs and massive performance issues across last-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles at the time. In an unprecedented move, Microsoft and Sony began issuing refunds, with Cyberpunk 2077 being removed from the PlayStation storefront for a lengthy period of time.

Fast-forward to 2022, and Cyberpunk 2077’s road to recovery has seen developer CD Projekt release massive patches that have helped it find new life on console and PC. The recent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series on Netflix has also helped shift new fans to the game, and on Steam the game has climbed the charts and remains in the top 10 most-played games on Steam currently.

The game’s Twitter account announced that more than 1 million people played Cyberpunk 2077 daily last week, ahead of a new expansion coming out in 2023, Phantom Liberty.

Capcom’s classic game series Onimusha is making a comeback as an anime adaptation that will be available on Netflix at an unrevealed date. As part of several reveals from Netflix Anime, five images for the upcoming series were revealed.

Similar to the recent Tekken: Bloodline series, Onimusha will combine 3D animation with CGI effects and hand-drawn backgrounds, with Ichi the Killer director Takashi Miike and Sublimation Studio’s Shinya Sugai in charge of the project as chief director and director respectively.

“The beginning of the Edo period, Musashi is no longer a young man,” Netflix’s synopsis for the series reads. “He departs with the legendary Oni Gauntlet to defeat the Genma. Onimusha is given a new life using modern-day animation technology.”

The first Onimusha game was originally released for the PS2 in 2001 and was followed by several sequels and spin-offs over the years. The last game in the series, Dawn of Dreams, was released in 2006 and the series has been largely dormant since then, save for a browser game, a mobile title, and a remaster of the original Onimusha in 2019 for PC and console.

Capcom has rarely discussed the future of Onimusha over the years, but the press release for the Netflix series did add that Capcom “remains firmly committed to enhancing the brand value of its content” by making use of visual media to promote its IP.

This approach has worked wonders for Cyberpunk 2077, as the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series has seen interest in the game renewed, alongside a major patch that has helped draw a record number of players back to Night City.

A new Silent Hill game might be on the way, according to a Korean rating that has appeared online. The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated Silent Hill: The Short Message, with the publisher for this title being listed as Uniana.

According to Gematsu, Uniana regularly publishes Konami games in South Korea. Other details on what exactly this new Silent Hill experience could be weren’t revealed in the listing, and it’s worth noting that Uniana also runs an arcade cabinet business. Another dormant Konami franchise, Metal Gear, infamously got a pachinko machine even as the series itself was otherwise largely ignored

Around a decade has passed since the last proper Silent Hill game, Silent Hill: Book of Memories on the PS Vita, was released and rumors have begun circulating of multiple games in the Konami horror series being in development. Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team is reportedly working on a new Silent Hill game in collaboration with Konami and an episodic series of shorter games is rumored to be in production.

The latter rumors ties into previous reports of Konami’s Silent Hill resurrection plans, as earlier this year it was claimed that the company was working on a mainline title and side “stories”. Bloober Team’s Silent Hill project is said to be a Silent Hill 2 remake, which will include reworked puzzles, new endings, and could possibly be a timed PlayStation exclusive.
