Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption – Reawakened, the mod project to rebuild the first VtM videogame in Skyrim, has shown off new gameplay of its Prague early game. The original game, which follows the story of a crusader knight from the Middle Ages all the way to the modern day, is one of those hyper-ambitious, turn of the millennium RPGs that just doesn’t come all the way together, and is a prime candidate for a fan revival.

We last checked in on Redemption – Reawakened a year ago. The mod team had shown off some of its later hub areas and more dungeony levels, but project lead Galejro’s latest videos show off a significant portion of the early game in Prague.

There’s no getting around the Skyrimmyness of it all⁠—those Creation Engine vibes are a proverbial shot of Baileys that any talented modder will struggle to overcome. Still, I think Reawakened is doing a good job of carving out its own identity. The new music and combination of Bloodlines and OG Redemption sound effects help set a more World of Darkness mood, as does replacing Skyrim’s default cursor with the bloody Ankh from the original game.

There’s a fresh set of clues for today’s NYT Connections game waiting below if you need a little push in the right direction—some days the words seem to hide on the screen, after all. Need something more direct? You’ve got it. Every answer for the September 23 (#104) puzzle is only a scroll away.

I see that trap you’ve laid for me today, Connections, and I’m not falling for it. OK so I almost did, but almost doesn’t count, right? Better still, as soon as I’d worked out which words didn’t go together, finding the ones that did became so much simpler.

Launch week server headaches have rankled everyone trying to play Payday 3, but the most frustrated are those who don’t even want to play the new co-op heist shooter online. Payday 3’s always-online construction means that solo players still have to connect to the matchmaking servers to start private heists, which has subjected them to the same errors and long queues as multiplayer heisters.

When I first launched Payday 3 today, I struggled just to get to the main menu, receiving an impassable “Nebula data error.” After relaunching a couple of times I was eventually able to start a private, invite-only heist, waiting through about 30 seconds of “matchmaking” despite playing with bots.

A couple of days back, the system requirements for Assassin’s Creed Mirage were revealed. The recommended requirements are quite reasonable, with pretty much any six-core CPU and GTX 1660 Ti / RX 5600 XT tier graphics card able to run the game at 60 FPS and 1080p with high settings.

One thing that caught our eye was the mention of XeSS upscaling support, but not Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR. Ubisoft has put that to bed though, with an updated blog post that confirms Assassin’s Creed Mirage will support  DLSS, FSR, and XeSS.

An increase in Destiny 2 error code encounters earlier this week was caused by DDoS attacks, says developer Bungie. The attacks caused some players to be unable to log in or stay connected, and got worse over September 18 and 19—by the evening of the 19th many couldn’t play at all.

A DDoS attack uses a network of devices, usually commanded by malware, to overwhelm a server with phony requests, inhibiting its ability to serve actual users. Bungie says it doesn’t usually openly acknowledge attacks like this “for general game security reasons,” but the proximity to a hotfix and patch compelled it to speak out in this instance.

When I attended Computex in late May, one of the most impressive things I saw was the Asus ProArt Cinema PQ07 display. There were few details at the time, and I wrote I would be surprised if it cost less than $100,000. I was wrong. It’s going to cost $200,000. My kidneys aren’t worth that much.

Some more information is now available, thanks to HDTVTest (via Notebook Check). The display comes in a massive 135-inch size, but its highlight is its use of Micro-LED technology. This means every pixel can be switched on and off, which gives it a very high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 while being able to sustain a 2,000 nit brightness level. That’s unsustainable on OLED displays with automatic brightness limiting.
