I’ve finished Baldur’s Gate 3 two times, nearly three. There was my initial playthrough, my first Honour Mode victory, and an evil playthrough on the same difficulty where I got to Act 3 and sort of tapered off. Not for any particular reason, mind, other than the fact that if you spend over 280+ hours with an RPG you’re going to get bored at some point.

Part of the “problem”, one that’s really no one’s fault, was Baldur’s Gate 3’s story. For all of its excellent writing, all of its twists and turns, and all of its unexpected dialogue, well, same deal—you can only read the same book so many times. Which would mean that any playthrough I wanted to do for the purposes of mucking around with its faithful rendition of D&D 5e combat would involve a lot of jogging and cutscene skipping.

Struggling with the June 26 (1103) Wordle? Not any more. Now you’re here, today’s answer is only an easy click away. Not struggling, but would still like a little help? Got it. Spend a little time with a fresh clue for today’s game, and give your guesses a hand.

I’m a bit surprised by this one. My opening guesses didn’t look like anything special at all—a single letter changing from yellow to green—but it turned out to be just the thing I needed to find today’s answer on my next go. The letters just seemed to sort themselves out for me. Thanks, Wordle.

If Riot Games decided to add guns and a battle royale mode to League of Legends, it would look something like the just-announced Supervive. In fact, at first glance you’d be forgiven for thinking you are looking at a new LoL game mode given the visual similarities between the two. A lot of the Supervive team worked at Riot, including studio CEO Joe Tung who was an EVP on LoL. He came up with the basic idea for Supervive while there, but technical limitations meant it could never work in League.

Supervive has grown to become much more than a LoL game mode, however, and the only real similarities now are the look and the selection of characters with MOBA-style abilities. I tried it during a recent hands-on session, and it’s closer to a fast-paced top down hero shooter, where you compete as a team or solo against 39 other players in a battle royale. You’ll pick where to drop, kill creeps to level up and collect gear, then go hunt other teams to take them out and be the last one standing.

Come take a look at a hint for today’s Wordle, designed to give your guesses a great place to start without giving the game away. Or go treat yourself to the answer to the June 25 (1102) puzzle if you like instead—your win, your way.

There, that’s more like it. After yesterday’s shocking performance, I have to admit I’m a little relieved to see today’s answer reveal itself without too much of a fight. A good selection of yellows, a few greens, sorted. See you tomorrow for (hopefully) more of the same.

Midnight Society co-founder Guy Beahm, better known as the mustache-and-sunglasses streamer Dr Disrespect, says he’s going to “step away” from streaming, and from his position at the studio, following allegations that his lifetime ban from Twitch was imposed after he was discovered sexting a minor and attempting to arrange a meetup at TwitchCon.

Immediately after the conclusion of the stream, Midnight Society announced that “we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is hard—real hard, in fact. Having just wrapped up my ashes-free playthrough myself, I definitely feel like everything in it is a major step up when compared to the base game. Nothing insurmountable, but the exact opposite of a cakewalk, as FromSoftware DLCs tend to be.

This controversial difficulty spike—in a genre known for being a series of controversial difficulty spikes—has led to “Mixed” reviews on Steam for the time being.

In an age of “community building” and direct communication between developers and players, I’ve always found it refreshing that FromSoftware is different. FromSoft sits at an imperious remove from its player base, and instead of communicating, disciplines us. While studios like Larian and Arrowhead have shown what you can accomplish by lending your players an attentive ear and friendly word, FromSoft remains proof positive that the opposite can be just as worthwhile.

In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, FromSoft has achieved new heights of trolling its players, subverting our expectations, just generally zagging when we expect them to zig—and it had me letting out hearty belly laughs the entire way through. It’s hard to praise a game for its malicious little surprises without spoiling at least a few, so consider this your Spoiler Warning for an area and weapon in the first two open world zones.

The first point where I knew I was really in for something special on this front came in the Belurat Tower Settlement legacy dungeon. I found a suspicious locked gate at the bottom of a well: Mystery! Enticement! What could be on the other side, I wondered. After finding the Well Depths Key on a circuitous, hidden little side path, I returned about an hour later for my reward.

Have you ever wanted to be an unpaid, intern robotic journalist at a space newspaper? Of course you have, think the developers of Times and Galaxy, a raucous new indie that has you take to the hyperspace lanes in a flying newsroom to be a cub reporter on the eponymous news publication, or “holopaper” as they’re calling it in the far future.

Somewhere between adventure game and visual novel, Times and Galaxy has you get thrown into the action as a rookie reporter whose job is to hit news events, figure out the story, and interview dozens of witnesses to dig up the best story you can. It’s cool stuff—partially because the way you construct the story is kind of up to you, and that can lead to how it’s received.

Everyone is loving Shadow of the Erdtree: We gave it a 95% in our review (higher even than the base game two years ago) and Erdtree has even surpassed The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine as the best-reviewed RPG expansion on Metacritic. Despite all that buzz, it’s currently taking a beating in one major metric: Steam reviews.

Shadow of the Erdtree is sitting at a “Mixed” status, with 61% of its over 14,000 user reviews being positive. There is one recurring criticism that makes a lot of sense: PC performance. Back at Elden Ring’s launch, PC Gamer editor-in-chief Evan Lahti mused about how Elden Ring was the rare game that’s so good, people gave it a pass for stuttering, a 60fps cap, and no ultrawide support.
