Many of Japan’s biggest games have been open world-ized, but I wouldn’t have expected the next to be—*checks notes*—summer vacation adventures. Sony’s Boku no Natsuyasumi (“My Summer Holiday”) series was a life sim trailblazer in the early 2000s, and now there’s Natsu-Mon: an enjoyable adventure giving a seldom-known subgenre new life. As a longtime devotee of the Sony games, I welcome the change rather than demand purity. It still isn’t getting old strolling through a virtual sunflower field, even if I’ve done it enough times to be a seed farmer.

What is it? A charming open-world adventure set in a remote Japanese town during summer 1999
Release date August 6, 2024
Expect to pay $39.99/£39.99

Natsu-Mon is the latest spiritual follow-up from Natsuyasumi creator Kaz Ayabe, who’s been returning to spearhead new version for other publishers—you may recall 2022’s Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation—but unlike the Sony games, they finally get English localizations. Natsu-Mon was originally released on Nintendo Switch last year, and besides now being in a language we can understand, also has an adequately powered-up PC port.

Fallout has been around since 1997, meaning Prime TV’s Fallout series had more than 25 years worth of reference material to draw on. According to Emmy-nominated makeup department head Michael Harvey, director Jonathan Nolan wanted the show to feel authentic to the world fans have loved for decades… but he also wanted to avoid exactly copying the source material.

“Jonah [Jonathan Nolan] explicitly told me, use the game as a reference,” Harvey told PC Gamer. Nolan wanted his team to “lean into the world for what it is, and take the elements from that world,” but also use their own imagination and creativity, Harvey said. “Don’t carbon copy anything,” Nolan told him.

Let’s make finding those green Wordle letters easy. Feel free to use our general tips if you’d like to improve your daily puzzle-solving, or take a look at today’s hint if you need something more direct. And if those winning letters still aren’t showing up, don’t be afraid to click through to the August 13 (1151) Wordle answer.

Picture the scene: I’m two guesses down the board, and I have enough clues to win. I’ve got a great green in place, and two strong yellow letters waiting to take their correct spots. The third go left me with the last two letters to find. Perfect. And then… nothing. My head emptied, and it took a heck of a lot of brow-furrowing before I spotted the answer right in front of me. Oops.

Baldur’s Gate 3‘s flavourful character animations are among the many things the game does brilliantly. They imbue each character with their own distinctive personality: From the poise and elegance of Shadowheart’s resting stance, to the cute soft-step-shuffle of Karlach while she’s keeping heself juiced up for battle, and onto to the brutal lunges, sweeps and kicks of Lae’zel and others, there’s a vivid, real feel to how these characters move.

Now, thanks to an enlightening new video diary from Larian, we’ve just got some really cool, never-before-seen insight into how the animations for Baldur’s Gate 3 were created, with a specific emphasis on everyone’s favourite Githyanki warrior queen. The video stars Larian’s mocap and choreography master, Mustapha El Bachiri, and it can be watched in full above.

Make sure your Monday Wordle gets off to a great start with our help. Hoping for a speedy win? Then you’ll want to take a look at today’s answer. Rather just give your guesses a bit of a push? That’s why we’ve got a brand new clue for the August 12 (1150) Wordle ready to go.

I could tell this was going to be an easy game when the first letter of my first go turned green. That’s what I thought, anyway. It might have even been true if it hadn’t been the only green I had at all for a while. And then if it hadn’t taken every letter of the alphabet and all six rows to actually find today’s Wordle answer. Here’s hoping I have a better game tomorrow.

2011 3D platformer Sonic Generations is getting an updated version later this year, with Sonic x Shadow Generations, and before that release comes the original is going to get delisted… which a lot of people don’t like the idea of, as you might imagine. In response to fan feedback, however, Sega has announced that the currently-available Sonic Generations Collection will remain available as part of a bundle with other older Sonic games.

“On September 9, the original version of Sonic Generations will no longer be sold on Steam as a standalone title. However, we’ve heard player’s [sic] feedback and we’re offering a way to play the game in its original form. The original version of Sonic Generations will still be available as part of the new Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy Bundle, including other classic Sonic titles on Steam,” says an FAQ post from Sega on Steam.

File this under “things we already knew but which are nice to have confirmed.” In a recent video for Fall Damage, Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in all of CD Projekt Red’s games, explained our favorite gruff monster-slaying dad guy will be back for the next game in the series.

“Witcher 4 has been announced,” he said. “I can’t say anything about it. What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much, and the game won’t focus on Geralt. So it’s not about him this time. We don’t know who it’s about. I’m excited to find out. I want to know! I have not seen any script yet—I mean, I couldn’t tell you if I did. This is the thing, so I could be lying through my teeth. But I’m not. Or am I?”
