Kickstart your Wordle week with our clue for the January 13 (1304) game, using Monday’s hint to supercharge your first line. Or save it for later if you prefer, and let it help make sense of some stubborn yellow letters. Need something more straightforward? Then click straight through to today’s answer. Hey, sometimes the alphabet seems to go on holiday and you just need a win.

I quickly found a nice cluster of green letters today, I just had to work out what on earth I needed to do with them. My earlier guesses had already ruled out a lot of the most obvious responses, although that did mean I spent a lot of time going “It’s got to be… ah, no.” as I poked at the puzzle. Finally revealing today’s answer felt great

On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that’s a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we’ve gathered the best PC games you can play right now and a running list of the 2025 games that are launching this year.

The Half-Life 3 speculation mill has been running hot over the last few months. G-Man’s voice actor Mike Shapiro rang in the new year by posting a video in which he refers to “unexpected surprises” in the staggering voice of Half-Life’s dimension-hopping villain. Before that, evidence that Valve was working on a “Project White Sands” was revealed on an actor’s website—White Sands referring to an area of New Mexico where Black Mesa was supposedly situated.

Now, Reddit user Relevant_Basis5444 has spotted that Valve’s Steam page currently lists two projects beneath its “Upcoming Releases” tag (via Eurogamer). One of these is Deadlock, Valve’s third-person MOBA, which is currently in development, and technically unreleased despite thousands of people playing it right now. The other, however, is hidden from view. It’s worth noting that Steam developer pages can hide games from view depending on your filter settings. But this mystery game remains obscured even with all filters disabled.

It’s Sunday, so why not put your feet up, give your mind a bit of a break, and let us help you solve today’s Wordle. Skip straight to the January 12 (1303) answer if you’re in the mood for an easy win, or if you’re happier taking the long way around use today’s hint and our tips to set you on the right track. You’ve got this.

I had to fight all the way down the board to win this one. In theory I wasn’t short of clues, they just didn’t want to behave for me, so one row filled with yellow letters became two rows filled with yellow letters, then three, then… then I finally started getting somewhere. Not my finest hour, but at least I got there in the end.

There’s a hint for today’s Wordle right here and ready to help you win your Saturday game if you need it, as well as a fantastic collection of general tricks and tips if you’d like to learn how to turn every grey, yellow, and green letter to your advantage. And don’t worry if it’s still not working out for you, because the January 11 (1302) answer is right here if you need it.

My opening row gave me one rather weak clue to work with, so I had no choice but to seize it with both hands and just hope my instincts were somewhere close to… I wasn’t even really hoping for the answer, just seeing proof we were using the same alphabet would’ve been enough. Somehow I found myself staring at four shining green letters on the very next line, and with those in place there was literally only one other word left to try.

Among many FromSoftware signatures, the Dark Souls developer’s NPCs always seem to talk, you know, like that. They’re cryptic and brittle, giving the minimum amount of information and surrendering zero context while they laugh, chuckle, or even chortle in the most unsettling way possible. Then you do a few quests, forget them for a while, and come back to find you missed one of their key triggers so now they’re a corpse with an item drop attached, or else they’ve gone loony and try to attack you.

Could a whole game be about Doing The Fromsoft NPC Voice? Turns out it can.

They’re pretty easy to read for filth, is what I’m saying, and a particularly gutting goof at the weirdos’ expense caught tabletop RPG designer Grant Howitt—you may be familiar with his other works such as Bear RPG Honey Heist—like a bolt from the blue. “*Trailer for new fromsoft game* Ahh,, fucked up little man,” wrote Twitter user @kevins_computer on June 10, 2021, presumably in response to the Summer Game Fest debut of Elden Ring’s first gameplay on the same day. “Youre [sic] so fucked up, and nasty . everything, it sucks soooo bad. only you, thje [sic] most fucked up and nasty of guys, can make it suck less.”

“The tweet infiltrated my mind. I would walk around my flat intoning it, in part or completely, for days at a time,” Howitt told me over email. “There’s something so delightful about embodying the earnest but often fumbling tragedy of these grubby little weirdos.

Thanks to the office Steam Deck, I now have a choice of venues for playing Infinity Nikki: on the sofa, wrapped up in a duvet, AND avoiding all of my responsibilities. Jokes aside, handheld gaming PCs have ushered in an era of AAA gaming-on-the-go, but they’re still fairly bulky devices. Well, the latest collection from Asus sports bags that attempt to protect your preciously priced hardware in style.

With a price tag of $800 for the ROG Ally X, you can’t just pop your handheld into a sizeable pocket and carry on without first confronting the fear of a scratched-up screen at least; a specialised carry case is a must for anyone wanting to take their handheld further afield than the couch. As such, Asus has revealed new additions in its Slash line of travel bags specifically for stowing your ROG Ally and similar handhelds. Unfortunately…well, I’ll just put it this way: I don’t think these bags are going to feature in many look books this season.

There may be no better use case for the reaction guys than the 2015 E3 announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Remake—screams, meltdowns, tears of joy—and the 2021 release of the stuttery PC version of that same game: screams, meltdowns, tears of bitter disappointment. It was a shamefully barebones release of what should have been a huge game for Square Enix, made even harder to swallow by its 20-month delay after the console release and exclusivity on the Epic Games Store.

It’s no wonder that last year Square Enix’s CEO said the company planned to refocus on multiplatform releases with a particular eye towards “initiatives designed to win over PC users.” Between majorly delayed releases and other not-a-bang-but-a-whimper launches like Kingdom Hearts collection limping onto Steam after three years, Square Enix has consistently fumbled the bag on PC with the games it should have the easiest time selling.

Remember when a computer meant something that used traditional, familiar algorithms? Ah, simple times. Now we not only have machine learning—aka, supposed “artificial intelligence”—but also quantum computing, which uses microwaves to get qubits to do wacky and seemingly impossible things. Regarding the latter kinds of computers, though, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang reckons we’re quite far from seeing actually useful ones.

That’s straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, which you can witness for yourself by skipping to 40:00 in the video of the CEO’s recent investor Q&A (via The Register) held at CES 2025.
