Destiny 2 The City And The Mystery Triumph Guide: How To Complete The Lightfall Triumph
Destiny 2: Lightfall presents plenty of new Triumphs to complete, one of them being The City and the Mystery in the city of Neomuna. The expansion puts its new locale front and center, and as you explore its corners to complete weekly challenges and activities, there are a few mysteries to unravel.
Involving a special enemy and two short-ish puzzles, the Destiny 2 The City and the Mystery Triumph is a great excuse to get out to the street and experience the city, while also getting a few chests for your time. This guide explains how to complete the Triumph and what to expect in terms of rewards.
How to complete The City and the Mystery Triumph in Destiny 2: Lightfall
The City and the Mystery involves three different tasks across Neomuna. It’s important to note that the locations can vary, as all three happen to be random spawns. I was able to tackle them in Liming Harbor, but I repeated the second one in Zephyr Concourse.
So, again, results will vary. If you opt for Liming Harbor, the examples below will point out a few suggested locations for you to keep an eye on. Overall, just be patient, as the respawn times are fairly forgiving.
The City and the Mystery – Time Vex repulsion explained
The first step of this Destiny 2: Lightfall Triumph tasks you with finding a Vex Influx, which is the pillar-shaped structure from the Vex. I found one in the southwestern corner of Liming Harbor, close to the shipment containers. But once more, this varies, so keep an eye out for them while you’re exploring Zephyr Concourse and Ahimsa Park as well.
Once you see it, go ahead and interact with it. Keep in mind that this is a timed event–you’ll have around 30 seconds to shoot five platforms around the Vex Influx.
In my case, I found one on the containers behind the pillar, another one to the front right on top of a container, and the rest were towards the left side. If you get lost, you’ll see threads coming from the Vex Influx, which lead to each one of the plates.
Don’t worry if you don’t get them on your first try. While an in-game message will say that you failed to repulse the upcoming Vex, all you have to do is wait for a moment, take down the Vex that spawns, and then wait for the Influx to return, which takes a quick second.
You’ll now be able to open a chest, which is bound to have glimmer as well as Neomuna Rank points.
The City and the Mystery – Shadow Legion ammo sabotaged explained
For the second step of this Destiny 2 Triumph, you’ll have to look for a Munitions Psion. Taking the enemy down will drop an Antenna, which you can then use to complete this step.
Once more, locations are random. Liming Harbor worked for me again, but there is a chance that another player in the area might get to the enemy first. As such, keep an eye out for a circle icon marker on your map (like the one in the screenshot below) as there’s a chance that it’s indicating the location of an Antenna.
After you’ve picked it up, the game will display a second marker, which is going to take you to a box of sorts. Get close and press the attack button, which will make it so the Antenna deploys an aerial attack to that box. Move away as to be safe from the explosion, and that will be it.
The chest will appear in that same spot, rewarding you with glimmer as well as Neomuna Rank points.
The City and the Mystery – Shadow Legion surveilled explained
The third and final step of this Triumph is a bit trickier. It involves grabbing a device that showcases the prompt ‘Triangulate Transmitter Location’ in Destiny 2. In-game, it appears as a glowing beacon of sorts that is placed on top of a display panel (like the one shown in the screenshot above). I found one inside the ship in Liming Harbor, which can be a good point of reference for you to start your own search.
Once you have it, you will start receiving messages on the bottom left of the screen, starting with “triangulating transmission location: too far away…” This is going to change over time, leading to “receiving a slight ping,” “signal strength improving,” and culminating in “source of signal in the immediate area.”
The trick is to start moving towards different directions from where you picked up the device. If you’re still on “too far away,” turn around and try a different one until it starts to pick up the signal.
If you’re like me and you’re listening to music in the background while playing, I recommend pausing it for a bit, as the game will emit a sound to indicate whenever you’re getting close, too.
The device you need to find is a station with an orange display. When you get close to it, go ahead and deactivate the transmitter.
The chest will show up nearby, giving you glimmer and a few more Neomuna Rank points. This will also be the end of The City and the Mystery Triumph.
That’s all you need to know about this Destiny 2: Lightfall treasure hunt. If you’re planning on continuing to explore Neomuna after this, make sure to keep an eye out for action figure locations, as well as the Final Warning exotic quest.
