Shatterscarp is the third region you can visit during your journey in Avowed. It’s home to Thirdborn, a town full of misfits, pirates, and outlaws. Shatterscarp is arguably the most dangerous region in the Living Lands, as the Dreamscourge has completely taken over the inhabitants and there’s a dangerous Archmage at work that’s devouring whole sections of the map.

Through all of this chaos, though, there are some gorgeous locations and plenty of content to consume in addition to the main story quests. To make your time easier in Shatterscarp, we went through the trouble of fully uncovering the entire map, allowing you to see where everything is and how to get there. The guide below will showcase the uncovered map as well as some key points of interest that you’ll want to visit in Avowed.

Full Shatterscarp Map in Avowed

Unlike other regions in Avowed, Shatterscarp is centered around its hub city of Thirdborn. Instead, Thirdborn is a small settlement that borders the ocean on the southern border of the map. At the center of Shatterscarp is a massive mountain that you can’t really traverse, forcing you to go around it if you want to visit the sprawling locations in the region.

In total, there are five major areas you can explore in Shatterscarp, and they are:

  • Thirdborn
  • Great Sand Sea
  • Ancient Lakebed
  • Shark’s Teeth
  • Deadfall Highlands

There are plenty of other larger locations you’ll visit throughout the story, but those are the main five sections of the map. All of them surround the massive mountain in the middle of Shatterscarp, so it’s wise to follow the main road (indicated by the red dotted lines on the map) if you want to efficiently make your way around.

Here are two shots of the fully uncovered Shatterscarp map:

As always, Thirdborn remains covered as it has a separate map that appears when you enter its front doors. The only other part of the map that’s covered is the central mountain, but as you can see, there are some small areas you can find that allow you to explore a little of the large rock.

Shatterscarp Key Points of Interest

Shatterscarp doesn’t feature nearly the same amount of fast travel beacons and party camps as Dawnshore or Emerald Stair in Avowed. As such, you’ll have a difficult time making your way around the map quickly. There are only five fast travel beacons and four party camp waystones.

This might deter you from exploring the map, but trust us, there’s plenty to see and do in Shatterscarp. Below, we’ll list off some of the major points of interest and where they’re located on the map.

Strangled Adra

  • At the top of the Broken Crown Rock to the north of the Great Sand Sea

The Voice

  • On the top of a cliff at the Twin Offerings Overlook, located in the southern part of the Great Sand Sea and to the west of the Sand Sea Oasis

Pargrun Cache

  • If you want some unique rewards in Avowed, head to the Pargrun Cache in the southeastern part of the Shark’s Teeth area. This is also where one of the Totem of Revelations pieces is located

Treasure Maps

Mapping the Living Lands Cartographer

That’s all for this map guide in Avowed. Shatterscarp might be tedious to explore at times, but it holds some tremendous rewards.

Do you like the Sisters of Battle from Warhammer 40,000? How about the birdseye sci-fi survival horror of Signalis? The roguelite progression of Void Bastards? The whole vibe of Event Horizon? If at least three of those things seem like your cup of recaf, then sit down and let me tell you about Void Martyrs.

This recently announced work of survival horror from indie studio Mac N Cheese Games will send you, a “nun in a space suit”, into abandoned spaceships and cathedral-esque space stations that have been taken over by a biomechanical zombie plague. It’s your holy mission to recover a relic from the heart of each location, though if you die on this great work take comfort in the knowledge another nun with a gun will be along shortly to pick up where you left off.

While I need little extra motivation to read patch notes, bugfix sicko that I am, I admire the additional effort Supergiant has gone to in guiding players through Hades 2’s second major update. Not content with throwing the update’s voluminous changelog on Steam (though it’s done that too), Supergiant enlisted Hades 2’s narrator Logan Cunningham to growl through 27 minutes of new features, system adjustments, UI refinements, and much more.

The results, which you can listen to above, are not only delightful, but surprisingly soothing. I felt knots in my shoulders loosen a little when Cunningham purred the phrase “New familiarrrrr”. I reckon Supergiant may have accidentally created a whole new YouTube subgenre—patch note ASMR. If only I had a voice like Cunningham’s. I could be a millionaire.

Surveys say that today’s youth are more interested in stories about platonic friendships and social groups than romance and sex, and game developers are taking note of that and other trends in teen media consumption.

To a crowd of games industry professionals at D.I.C.E. Summit last week, TV executive turned game studio founder Sharon Tal Yguado and Roblox VP of civility and partnerships Tami Bhaumik spoke about “what teens want,” presenting recent research and their observations.

If you’ve been meaning to learn American Sign Language (ASL), or just want to brush up on your vocabulary, Nvidia has announced a free new tool, alongside the American Society for Deaf Children and agency Hello Monday, that harnesses AI to teach prospective users how to speak.

Announced in the Nvidia Blog, this new tool’s announcement post laments the fact that, despite being the “third most prevalent language in the United States”, AI tools aren’t as prominently teaching Americans ASL as they are English and Spanish.

We’ve got a clue for today’s Wordle if you need a little help at any time during Friday’s game, or you’d just like to make sure your opening guess is somewhere along the right lines. The answer to the February 21 (1343) is ready to go too if you end up needing a lot of help, or if you’d just like to solve your Wordle in record time.

If there were medals for missing the answer, I’d have a gold one hanging around my neck right now. Every guess was perfectly picked, the model of Wordle excellence. Every guess was also wrong, which went from funny to frustrated to borderline panic when I had just one chance left. Still, the relief I felt at the end, five green letters finally showing up, was worth it.

Just days after confirming the layoff of employees at its Seattle studio, NetEase says its hit hero shooter Marvel Rivals has now surpassed 40 million players, and had climbed back to the top of the Steam charges on the strength of its first season in January.

“Marvel Rivals topped Steam’s global top sellers chart shortly after its launch on December 6, amassing over 10 million registered users within 72 hours and over 40 million to date,” NetEase said in its Q4 2024 earnings release. “Its Season 1 update in January 2025 sparked another surge, claiming the No. 1 spots on Steam’s top sellers and most-played charts worldwide.”

Following in Dawnshore’s footsteps, Avowed‘s second region of Emerald Stair has yet another god totem for you to restore. This area is far more complicated to fully explore than Dawnshore though, so finding all the Totem of Defiance fragments to restore The Schemer’s Offering can be a bit arduous.

Time-consuming though it may be, it’s well worth tracking each fragment down. Not only do you get some great stealth and Ranger-style perks out of it, but you’ll also see some of the best sights Avowed has to offer. Seriously, Emerald Stair is as beautiful as it is dangerous, especially when night falls and only mushrooms light the way.

The Totem of Defiance, known as The Schemer’s Offering, has six fragments and a base you need to collect across Emerald Stair. Like with the Totem of Rightful Rulership before it, each fragment provides a special perk once slotted into the base, only now you’ll have to choose which of the two totems you want active.

Wam, bam, clonk, clonk, bonk. That’s the sound of a Captain America main barging straight past Magneto to smack around the backline supports with two full servings of manifest destiny. I love Marvel Rivals’ rendition of Cap as the load-bearing pillar of his team—a mobile, aggressive dive tank who weaves defense into his offense and disrupts the other team’s equilibrium. He’s an exceptionally fun tank archetype in a game full of fun tanks, but there’s one aspect of his kit that’s bugged me to no end these last few months: Why can’t Cap hold up his shield while he jumps?

I clearly wasn’t the only one asking, because in a Marvel Rivals patch dropping on February 21, the ability to shield while leaping is the headliner of a handful of Captain America buffs:

  • He will be able to shield himself with Living Legend mid-leap
  • Increase Vibranium Energy Saw’s projectile speed from 60m/s to 80m/s, with ricochets ramping up from 100m/s to a supercharged 150m/s
  • Reduce the energy cost of Freedom Charge (ultimate ability) from 3100 to 2800
  • Enhance Captain America’s combat experience by separating Sentinel Strike from melee attacks. Captain America will be able to use melee attacks while his shield is thrown or during the Team-Up Ability Charged Aegis state to activate the first two hits of Sentinel Strike. Additionally, while airborne, using melee attacks will no longer trigger the Super-Soldier Slam ability.

Just last year, Secretlab put out a Monster Hunter 20th anniversary edition set of Titan Evo chairs for the legendary action game, and to celebrate the upcoming launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, one more is on the way. Luckily, it’s the nicest of the three.

The Arkveld edition of the Secretlab Titan Evo is available to buy right now for $624 and is inspired by Arkveld from the game, a large white extinct monster which is all scary looks and claws. Luckily, the chair is not. With flecks of white, grey, and blue, the Arkveld edition is very clean-looking, with a small logo of the Arkveld on the front and a more menacing interpretation of Arkveld on the back.
