Amazon has detailed all the new content coming to its MMORPG Lost Ark as part of its Hunt for the Guardian Slayer update on March 10, and it includes everything from new endgame content to a Mario Kart-inspired limited-time event.

As previously detailed, the update will introduce the first of the game’s Abyss Raid, which are eight-player endgame boss battles against massive Guardians. The first to be introduced, Argos, will have three distinct phases, with a separate table of rewards for each phase that can be claimed once a week. Players will need at least an item level of 1370 to participate in the new content and must have first complete an associated guide quest to unlock the feature.

A new limited-time event will also make its way to the game–the Arkesia Grand Prix. This event will pit two teams of seven players against one another in a race. Players will need to be level 50 to participate, and the event will be live for roughly a month.

This update will also introduce new story content, new islands, and lay the groundwork for the game’s first competitive Proving Grounds PvP season. There will also be a new series of login bonuses available for players to claim each day, with rewards available until the arrival of the game’s April update.

While Lost Ark’s concurrent player counts have dipped since its record-breaking launch week of 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam, the game is still wildly popular. Amazon has stated it will be looking to address common criticisms about Lost Ark involving gender-locked classes and revealing female outfits in the future, and it recently banned over 1 million illegitimate bot accounts from the game. The full patch notes for the March update are below.

Lost Ark March Update Full Patch Notes

The March Update with new content and a swath of bug fixes has arrived! Downtime for the update will begin on March 10 at 12AM PT (8AM UTC) and is expected to last 4 hours. Find the new content (including a few additions from our previous announced features) and the list of fixes below.

SPOTLIGHT

KADAN STORY EPISODE (INCLUDES ISTERI & ILLUSION BAMBOO ISLANDS)

Experience a new storyline, complete with its own quests, new islands, and cinematic moments. These quests will include a cast of new and returning characters as you learn more about the Sidereals and search for the legendary Kadan, the first Guardian slayer, in your journey to find the final Ark.

Players will need to have completed Feiton, alongside completing the following quests: ‘Yorn – Let There Be Light’, ‘Whispering Islet – Start of Our Story’, and ‘Illusion Bamboo Island – End of the Trials’ as a prerequisite before embarking on the new end-game questlines. Both Isteri & Illusion Bamboo islands are recommended for players at item level 1100.

ABYSS RAID: ARGOS

Similar to the Guardian Raids that players have encountered in their adventures across Arkesia, participants will need to work together to defeat the Guardian Argos before time expires, with a limited number of revives available to the party. As an unrelenting foe, eight players are required to face Argos.

Players will need to progress through three distinct phases as they work together to vanquish this powerful Guardian. In the three phases, Argos will grow more powerful with different mechanics and attack patterns. Each phase has its own table of rewards (collectable once a week), and a different item level requirement for players to participate.

Phase 1 – Item Level 1370Phase 2 – Item Level 1385Phase 3 – Item Level 1400

To face Argos players must first complete the guide quest “Abyss Raid Unlocked!”. Those meeting the requirements are able to enter the encounter through the Abyss Raid Statue in major cities, where they can look for battle companions through match-making or by finding a specific group. Players can also find a group and enter the encounter using the “Find Party” button located below the mini-map.

GENERAL UPDATES

ARKESIA GRAND PRIX

Looking for a change of pace after intense Abyssal Raids and Competitive Proving Grounds matches? Look no further than the limited-time Arkesia Grand Prix racing event, available for the next month. In this mode, two teams of seven players (7v7) will compete against each other, racing around a course while transformed and attempting to progress toward their goal while preventing the other team from progressing. Progress can be earned by reaching the goal and eating cakes! The Arkesia Grand Prix will be live for roughly a month after the March update, until the April Update releases.

An NPC named “Arkesia Grand Prix Manager” will arrive in every major city (other than Prideholme) to help you enter the event, granting an “[Event][Daily] Go to the Arena!” quest for players to gain entry. Players must be level 50 to enter the event. Please note there is a known issue that the messaging for this requirement is only available in English in-game.

COMPETITIVE PROVING GROUNDS SEASON 1

Unlike the other content in the March Update, the initial March update will lay the groundwork for Season 1 of Competitive Proving Grounds, and the season will begin later in the month. We’ll keep you posted on the exact time the season is set to kick-off.

Time to start honing your player vs. player skills— the first season of competitive Proving Grounds is on its way; where players can battle each other for prestige and rewards. Players will be able to queue solo for the ‘Team Deathmatch’ mode. As you win and lose throughout the season, you can track your ‘Competitive Match Average Score’. Your rank is determined based on your score, as are the rewards you receive when the season ends. To participate, players will need to play Proving Grounds and reach Tier 1, so make sure to get some matches in before Season 1 begins!

NEW SKINS

Added the Omen skin collection to the in-game store. These cosmetics will be available in exchange for Royal Crystals until the April Update releases.

NEW LOG-IN BONUSES

The March update will add a new track for players to receive daily rewards for logging and claiming on a daily basis. Rewards include a variety of helpful materials, such as honing materials, rapport selection chests, card packs, and much more! This track will have 25 daily bonuses, alongside additional rewards at the 10, 15, and 20 day thresholds. These rewards will be available until our April Update.

Europe West will be receiving modified log-in bonuses to help players who moved regions to catch up. We’ll share more information on our official forums soon for Europe West players.

By far one of the most useful features the Xbox Series consoles have is Quick Resume, and their latest update just made it a little better. The March update for Xbox consoles has added a few improvements, but the one most players will notice immediately is the ability to pin games to Quick Resume.

Quick Resume is one of the fancier features included in the Xbox Series consoles, letting players switch between multiple games immediately and seamlessly. But the best part of Quick Resume is that a game will resume exactly where it was left off, meaning there’s no need to save or find a checkpoint. Players can simply swap between games as much as they want.

With this month’s Xbox update, players can now pin two games to Quick Resume, meaning they’ll always be available in an instant. To pin a game to Quick Resume, users simply have to select a game, press the Menu button, and select “Pin to Quick Resume” from the dropdown menu. These games will only be removed if players manually remove them or if they have a mandatory update.

Outside of Quick Resume enhancements, players can also remap their controller’s Share Button. While it normally lets users save clips or screenshots, the Share Button can now be remapped to perform a variety of actions, including opening up a friends list or muting a TV. A new audio setup wizard is also available for audiophiles who want to make sure their TV is using the correct audio format.

Sony has announced the next PlayStation State of Play event for today, March 9, and it will focus on Japanese-published games coming to both PS4 and PS5. The 20-minute presentation will include new game reveals in addition to updates on previously announced titles.

How to watch PlayStation State of Play

The PlayStation State of Play, which is essentially Sony’s take on Nintendo Direct presentations, will be available to watch via YouTube and Twitch. You can also view it right here.

It begins at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET and will last for approximately 20 minutes. Other timezones are included below:

2 PM PT4 PM CT5 PM ET10 PM GMT9 AM ACT (March 10)

What to expect

The 20 minutes will predominantly focus on games from Sony’s Japanese publishing partners for both PS4 and PS5, though Sony said a few other partners from around the world will be featured, too. This could mean updates on games like Final Fantasy XVI, though it’s, of course, unclear what the unannounced games will be. What we won’t see is more information on the PSVR 2–either hardware or games–so we should expect more news on that at a later date.

With its March 18 release date quickly approaching, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin publisher Square Enix has revealed the minimum and recommended PC specifications for the game if you plan to play it on that platform.

Jack Garland’s journey will see him tangle with plenty of chaos along the way in battles that require some fast reflexes in this Team Ninja-developed game, but the hardware requirements are quite forgiving. If your PC is on par with the best hardware of 2016 and you don’t mind making a few graphical concessions, you should be good to go.

Older AMD Radeon and Nvidia GPUs will do fine, but it’s worth noting that Square Enix didn’t specify what level of performance the minimum settings are aimed at achieving.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin PC Specifications

Minimum

Windows 10 64-bitAMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i7-67008 GB RAMAMD Radeon RX 470 or Nvidia GeForce 1060 6 GB80 GB storage spaceDirectX compatible sound card and DirectX 9.0c

While Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has an ultimately serious tone as it charts Garland’s quest to destroy chaos, the game has also shown off a sillier side in marketing materials lately. There’s the recent gameplay video that confirmed Garland’s fondness for Butt Rock, while the last trailer committed fully to sampling Frank Sinatra’s iconic My Way song.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PS4 and Xbox One this month. For more on the upcoming game and how it plays like a Ninja Gaiden version of Dark Souls, check out our impressions of the Strangers of Paradise demo that released last October.

Some new content for the game might also be shown off in tonight’s State of Play event that’s focused on Japanese-developed games, as a new demo for the game will also be available soon.

Evo confirmed Smash Bros would not be part of Evo 2022 when it announced this reveal event, as Nintendo elected not to partner with the organization.

Evo 2022 will be the first event held under Evo’s new ownership, as the organization was purchased by PlayStation in February 2021. The purchase followed a controversial 2020 for the event, as longtime organizer Joey Cuellar was accused of sexual harassment and removed from any involvement in Evo.

Apple announced a new, souped-up iPad Air this week, and featured mobile game Genshin Impact pretty heavily in its advertising for the new device. Eagle-eyed Genshin fans soon noticed something wrong with how the game was being played in Apple’s ad, however, with the video showing a player doing absolutely no damage to one of the game’s more punishing boss.

Around 15 seconds into the new iPad Air ad, a player on the device is shown facing Genshin Impact’s powerful Thunder Manifestation boss, but instead of the big damage numbers Genshin players usually aim for, the game instead shows a bunch of greyed-out “immune” tags. In the ad, the player is using Raiden Shogun’s Musou Isshin, usually a powerful electro-infused attack–unless you happen to be facing a boss who’s immune to all electro attacks.

On closer inspection, the player has two other electro-wielding characters equipped–Yae Miko and Keqing–while the fourth character is the Traveller, who has the potential to also wield electro attacks. All up, Apple’s Genshin player is in for an incredibly difficult boss battle.

While it’s clear Apple made the aesthetic decision to feature both an electro boss and electro attacks to follow the purple color scheme featured in this part of the ad, the obvious “immune” tags just look silly to anyone who’s played a bit of Genshin. Next time, try and give us a big juicy crit, Apple.

A Georgia man has been convicted of wire fraud and sentenced to three years in federal prison after fraudulently applying for a COVID-19 relief loan, then using a good part of that money to buy a $58,000 Pokemon card. The valuable Charizard card has now been forfeit to the government as part of the prosecution.

Vinath Oudomsine plead guilty to one count of wire fraud on March 7. As well as the prison time, Oudomsine will have to pay $85,000 in restitution, as well as a $10,000 fine, and will have three years of supervised release after his prison term.

Oudomsine initially applied for a small business covid relief loan around July 2020, claiming to run an entertainment services business with 10 employees and a turnover of $235,000 in the previous 12 months. He was granted a loan of $85,000 in August 2020, and later spent $57,000 of it on a Charizard trading card.

Charizard cards dating back to the earliest days of the Pokemon TCG are known to be particularly valuable. Back in 2020 rapper Logic spent over $220,000 on a first-edition Charizard card, while a valuer who featured on Logan Paul’s Pokemon card unboxing stream said certain holographic Charizard cards could go for as much as $750,000 at auction.

“COVID-19 disaster relief loans are issued by the government to help businesses struggling to survive during a pandemic, not to use for trivial collectible items,” said FBI Atlanta agent Philip Wislar.

After defeating a demigod, one of the “main” bosses in Elden Ring, you will find yourself in possession of a Great Rune. These Great Runes are powerful equippable items that grant different benefits depending on the item. In order to use a Great Rune, you will need to equip them at a Site of Grace and use a Rune Arc, which is a rare consumable item. After using the Rune Arc, the Great Rune will be active until you die or switch Great Runes. Before doing any of that, you will need to activate the Great Runes by heading to the corresponding Divine Tower. Like a lot in Elden Ring, it’s a complicated, deliberately unclear process. Before we dive in, understand that this guide contains spoilers related to mainline boss battles. Here is where to find each Divine Tower.

Godrick’s Great Rune

Starting from the Liftside Chamber, the path to the Divine Tower is southeast, towards the massive bridge.

Godrick’s Great Rune is obtained from defeating Godrick, who is located in the heart of Stormveil Castle. This is likely the first Great Rune you will obtain in Elden Ring. In order to use Godrick’s Great Rune you will need to activate it by heading to the nearby Divine Tower.

Godrick’s Great Rune is activated in the Limgrave Divine Tower, which is connected to Stormveil Castle by a massive bridge. To get there, start at the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace located in the northwest section of the castle. This will place you behind the multiple fire turrets and archers guarding the final gate that leads to the main gate. Go past these archers and to the left, taking the path toward the main entrance. Unless you want to clear out a ton of enemies here, it’s recommended that you just sprint through.

After heading left through the gate you will come to a skinny path, where enemies with crossbows are firing explosive rounds at you. Again, keep sprinting. After going through the next gate, there will be a grassy area on your left leading into a building. There is a lion enemy there, which won’t follow you into the building. Head through the building and up the stairs to find the Limgrave Tower Bridge Site of Grace.

Head across the bridge until you find the teleport gate in the center of the path.

From here, you will need to head across the bridge in front of you, which has three massive golems on it. The first two are equipped with axes, with the third one wielding a bow. Behind the third one is a teleport gate, which will send you to the front door of the Divine Tower. Here, you can enter the Divine Tower of Limgrave. The door will only open if you have the unactivated Great Rune. Once inside take the elevator up, head through the open archway, activate the Site of Grace, and head up the stairs. On the top of the tower are two dead fingers and the Great Rune should be floating above its corpse. Interact with it and it will activate Godrick’s Great Rune. While activated, Godrick’s Great Rune gives +5 to all attributes.

Great Rune of the Unborn

After defeating Rennala, speak with her to respec your character, as long as you have a Larval Tear.

The Great Rune of the Unborn is awarded for defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Rennala is located in Liurnia, at the Raya Lucaria Academy, which is located in the center of the lake. The Great Rune of the Unborn is different from the others, as it cannot be equipped and does not need to be reactivated. Instead, the Great Rune of the Unborn allows players to “perfect rebirth,” which is a fancy way of saying it lets you respec. If you speak with Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library, you can redistribute your attribute points, as long as you have a Larval Tear.

Radahn’s Great Rune

The Divine Tower of Caelid is where you can restore power to Radahn’s Great Rune.

Radahn’s Great Rune is dropped by General Radahn, the shardbearer located in Caelid, which is east of Limgrave. Radahn can be challenged by navigating through Redmane Castle, located on a small island south of Caelid. After obtaining Radahn’s Great Rune, you will need to head to the Divine Tower of Caelid, located on the northern coast, in the center of Caelid.

To access the Divine Tower, you will need to approach it from the south, with the closest Site of Grace being Dragonbarrow West. After reaching the tower, head to the left side and jump down onto the massive tree branch. Follow the branch towards the tower and jump down to the outside of it. Head to the ladder, which is blocked by an enemy. At the top of the ladder there will be a second ladder directly in front of you. Ignore it. Instead, head right where there is an enemy holding a torch in front of another ladder. You will need to jump onto the stone arch and jump across the broken parts of it to do this.

After climbing the tower head left, and platform across the stone arch that is a part of the tower. There will be an enemy around the corner to the right. After dispatching them, navigate across another stone arch, where you will find another ladder. Head up the ladder and head to the left, where there is a Site of Grace on a balcony. Jump over to it and head into the right corridor, which will take you up a couple sets of stairs. You will eventually come to the elevator room.

Once the elevator reaches the top, head to the balcony outside and follow the stairs to the top of the Divine Tower. There you will find Radahn’s Great Rune, which will now be activated. While active, Radhan’s Great Rune gives a 15% boost to health, 12.5% boost to stamina, and 12.5% boost to FP.

Morgott’s Great Rune

The elevator that leads to the first of the two bridges is located within the red circle.

Morgott’s Great Rune is obtained from defeating Morgott, the Omen King. Morgott is found in the Altus Plateau, located in Leyndell, Royal Capital. Morgott is fought at the Elden Throne, located in the southeast part of the city, right next to the Erdtree. After obtaining Morgott’s Great Rune, you will need to head to the Divine Tower of East Altus. In order to access the Divine Tower of East Altus, you will need to navigate to the elevator to the Forbidden Lands.

You will want to get back down to ground level by picking a Site of Grace on the eastern side of the city. From there, you want to continue heading northeast until you come across a part of the city that has a ton of dirt everywhere. Continue east through there, until you come to a spiral stone staircase. At the top you will find an elevator. Head up the elevator and head straight until you come to another building with an elevator. Take the elevator up and hit the Site of Grace–there is a boss fight coming up–and head back down the elevator. Go to the other bridge and begin traveling across.

About halfway across the bridge, everything will turn black and you will have to fight a set of twin bosses, the Fell Twins. One wields a flaming ax and another wields a flaming sword. After defeating them, continue towards the Divine Tower. There is a Site of Grace outside the front door, head inside, take the elevator up and continue to the top of the tower. There you will interact with the symbol on the roof, which will activate Morgott’s Great Rune. Morgott’s Great Rune significantly boosts your health stat by about 25%.

Rykard’s Great Rune

The Divine Tower of West Altus can be reached through the Sealed Tunnel.

Rykard’s Great Rune is obtained by defeating Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Rykard, who is located on Mt. Gelmir at Volcano Manor, in the western part of the Altus Plateau, can be reached two different ways. If players explore Volcano Manor and work their way up and through the castle, they can find their way to the Audience Pathway, which leads to the boss fight. The other option is to speak with the people in Volcano Manor and join them. After that they will give you three letters, one at a time, tasking you with invading and killing NPCs across the Lands Between. After completing all three, Lady Tanith will give you the option to be teleported to the Audience Pathway.

After defeating Rykard, you will need to take his Great Rune to the Divine Tower of West Altus. This Divine Tower is located south of Lyndell and can be accessed via the Sealed Tunnel, just outside the capital city’s walls.

The first tunnel is hidden by an illusory wall, behind this chest.

The Sealed Tunnel is a mine with a series of illusory walls that you will need to either attack or roll into to reveal the path. The first one is found after entering the first section of the mine on the right side, behind a chest. After that you will take an elevator down farther into the mine. Head forward and over a tree branch to reach the next fake wall, hit it, and continue forward. After that you will enter a room with a massive tree branch going across it, with an area below. There are items down below, but the way to progress through the mine is to navigate across the tree branches to the opening on the left. If you do fall down, there is a ladder that will bring you back to the start of the room.

Through that door is a staircase blocked by some tree branches. Drop off the platform down to the right and continue heading straight. There are some stone cluster enemies that will explode if you get near them in this area. At the end of the room you will find a cliff edge with a bunch of tree branches down below. Use them to navigate your way to the bottom of the hole. Head through the opening and you will find yourself at the boss door for the dungeon. If you get stuck at any point during this dungeon, start swinging at the walls or looking for notes left by other players indicating where the fake walls are.

The boss for the Sealed Tunnel is the Onyx Lord. It is a tall looking enemy without any armor wielding a massive sword and gravity magic. This enemy is found a few other places as just an elite mob. After defeating the Onyx Lord, head through the archway in the back of the boss area, which leads back outside. Do not use the return dungeon’s entrance option.

Same as before, head inside the Divine Tower and take the elevator up. Once at the top follow the path to the top of the tower where you can activate Rykard’s Great Rune. While equipped and activated, Rykard’s Great Rune restores health whenever you kill an enemy.

Mohg’s Great Rune

Mohg’s Great Rune is dropped after defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood, in the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum. Finding your way to Mohg is a bit complicated. The good news here is that Mohg’s Great Rune is activated at the Divine Tower of East Altus, the same as Morgott. Mohg and Morogott are twins, so they share the Divine Tower. Mohg’s Great Rune when activated grants a blessing of blood to summons. This means whenever a summon kills something–either a spirit ash summon or another player–you gain HP.

There are two ways to get to Mohg, who is located in an underground area beneath Caelid. The first is to advance through White-Faced Varre’s NPC questline. Varre is first found at the very start of the game, where he dunks on you for being maidenless. After that he can be found at the Rose Church, in the southwest part of the lake in Liurnia. There, he will give you some Festering Bloody Fingers. After invading other players three times, he will give you the Lord of Blood’s favor item, which he wants soaked in the blood of a maiden. The closest location to do this is at the Church of Inhibition in the northeastern part of Liurnia.

The Rose Church is where you can find Varre and complete his quest.

Return to Varre and he will give you a reusable Bloody Finger. Speak with him again and he will give you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Using this item will take you to Mohg, although if you do this early in the game, you will likely struggle to beat Mohg, as he is a very tough opponent.

The second option is available after reaching the Grand Lift of Rold and using the Secret Haligtree Medallion. The first half of the Medallion is found in the Village of the Albinaurics, given by an NPC hiding in a pot. The second half is found in Castle Sol in the northern part of the eastern section of the Mountaintops of the Giants. It is found in Castle Sol after beating the boss there, Commander Niall.

With both halves, head to the Grand Lift of Rold and select the option to use the secret medallion, which will take you to the western part of the Mountaintops of the Giants. In this area, head to the western cliff in the middle section of the area, just north of the Yelough Anix Ruins.

The teleport gate to Mohg’s location is located on the cliffs edge.

Here you will find a teleport gate, which will take you to the underground section where you can find Mohg.

Malenia’s Great Rune

Right next to the Divine Bridge is the teleport gate that takes you to the Isolated Divine Tower.

Malenia’s Great Rune is acquired after defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella. She can be found at the Great Haligtree, specifically at the Haligtree Roots, in the northernmost part of the map. This area can be accessed via a teleport gate after solving the puzzle in Ordina, Liturgical Town. This is found in the north after using the secret medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold.

After defeating the Malenia, you will need to make your way to the Isolated Divine Tower. This can be accessed from the Divine Bridge in Leyndell, Capital of Ash. If you have not been to the Divine Bridge yet, the fastest way to get there is via a teleport trap chest at the top of the Tower of Return, located in the Weeping Peninsula.

The chest at the top of the Tower of Return will take you directly to the Divine Bridge.

That chest will take you directly to the Divine Bridge. From there you will see a golem sleeping on the ground. To the left of the golem is a teleport gate, which will send you directly to the Isolated Divine Tower. Head inside, take the elevator to the top, and continue along the path until you make it to the roof of the Divine Tower. Here, you can activate Malenia’s Great Rune.

Malenia’s Great Rune allows players to recover health lost to damage by attacking enemies. This window is short and the amount of HP recovered from the Flask of Crimson Tears is reduced while this is activated.
