Local multiplayer–especially during the pandemic–has been deemphasized in a whole lot of modern games, but LG’s latest projector could make it irresistible. The HU715Q laser projector offers 4K resolution with HDR, and with a picture size up to 120 inches, everyone will be able to see the action in your multiplayer games.

Using LG’s “Ultra Short Throw Ratio” technology, the HU715Q needs very little distance to project a huge picture. For a 100-inch display, it needs less than nine inches of space away from the wall, and for an 80-inch display, it needs only about half that distance. It also supports HDMI eARC, so you can quickly connect it to a sound system and control it all through one remote for easier setup before a big gaming event. It also features its own built-in 2.2-channel 40W sound if you don’t want a separate system, and you can connect two extra Bluetooth speakers wirelessly if you want a surround-sound effect.

LAN party in the morning, LAN party in the evening, LAN party at supper time.

The HU715Q features four-corner, 9-point, and 15-point warping functions to account for any inconsistencies on the wall you’re using to project the image. The remote features a motorized focus function to adjust the image from afar, as well.

At $3,000, it’s no small purchase, and one potential downside is the refresh rate–it maxes out at 60Hz, so you won’t be able to get 120fps gameplay on any titles. It’s a relatively small price to pay for being able to set up a giant temporary screen virtually anywhere, though.

Fortnite Week 11 is nearly here. As of Thursday, February 17 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM PT there will be seven new challenges and 175,000 XP up for grabs. This week’s list includes visiting the dastardly IO guards digging up the island, dueling one of three NPCs, and surviving a minute at Tilted Towers after landing there, among other things. Check out the full list of Fortnite Week 11 challenges below.

Fortnite challenges – Week 11

As usual, the new weekly quests are listed in the Seasonal Quests tab, viewable in-game and while in the lobby. Each one is worth 25,000 XP and they can be completed in whichever order tickles your Fortnite fancy. Here’s how they’re shown in-game, followed by tips on completing each of them:

Visit Mole Team Drill Sites (3) – 25,000 XPKnock down a Timber Pine while driving a vehicle – 25,000 XPDamage opponents with a Machine Pistol (200) – 25,000 XPDefeat Mancake, Ronin, or Shanta in a duel – 25,000 XPLand at Tilted Towers and survive for 60 seconds – 25,000 XPDrive a Quadcrasher to Pinnacle Peak – 25,000 XPEdit structures (15) – 25,000 XP

Visiting Mole Team Drill Sites isn’t difficult, as long as you know where they are. Consult the map, land near one, then travel to two of the other four and you’re set. Or, if you’d prefer, land at a different one in three consecutive matches to gain the XP that way. Meanwhile, dueling Mancake, Ronin, or Shanta is an easy one: find them on the map, challenge them to a duel, come out victorious, and suddenly you’re 25,000 XP richer. If you don’t know where to find your intended target, check out this handy guide on every Fornite Chapter 3 Season 1 NPC location and you’ll be able to plan a landing right on their doorstep. Just gear up first before issuing the challenge.

This loading screen from Chapter 2 Season 5 could be how you complete a quest this week.

You can follow our guide on Timber Pines to help you knock one down with a vehicle–just make sure you aim whatever you’re riding properly when running into the massive tree. Damaging opponents with a Machine Pistol and editing structures are straightforward too, just keep your eyes peeled for the gun so you can complete it.

The final two location-based quests are completely different levels of difficulty: First, driving a Quadcrasher to Pinnacle Peak won’t be too hard, you’ll be able to find plenty of them nearby at Logjam Lumberyard. As for landing at Tilted Towers and surviving for 60 seconds, well…it’s the most popular spot on the map, and this quest will only make it more popular. Watch your opponents as they land, find a spot away from the action, and hide for as long as you can.

That’s it for Fortnite’s Week 11 challenges. If you need a fresh new look to complete these tasks, Epic Games announced a new partnership with the NBA that includes a skin of the official 2022 NBA All-Star Game pre-game gear. Also, check out the new motion controls included as part of the 19.30 patch.

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Vanguard introduces the new objective-based Zombies map Terra Maledicta. This map serves as a continuation of Vanguard Zombies’ ongoing narrative with the operators helping Professor Krafft search for a way to stop Von List and Kortifex from using an army of the dead to win World War II for the Nazis. Terra Maledicta has a main Easter egg story quest, but you can learn even more details about the characters from intel radios on the map. Here are the locations for all three intel types found in Terra Maledicta.

Kortifex/Von List radio 6 at Debris Field

All Dark Aether Runes

Lastly, there are six Dark Aether runes found on Terra Maledicta, which are stone tablets that give dialogue from the Dark Aether entities teaming up with Krafft and the operators.

Dark Aether rune 5 at Stygian Heights

A single Instagram post from one of Hollywood’s most recognizable–if not always visible–actors is fueling speculation that his likeness may be dropping into Fortnite very soon.

Former WWE champion and current Peacemaker for DC Comics John Cena posted a picture of the Fortnite island as viewed from space, surrounded by The Loop that keeps all of the main characters trapped. Players first got a glimpse of this back in December when Chapter 3 Season 1 began.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by John Cena (@johncena)

Cena has been known to post randomly on his personal Instagram–his penchant for adding the words “Stone Cold” to a variety of things is an example–but the timing of this post is what makes it so interesting: The season finale of Peacemaker on HBO Max–the DC Comics show in which Cena plays the titular star–is set to premiere later this week. A Fortnite skin of the antihero dropping into the Item Shop tonight would make sense in celebration of the final episode. We just hope it is indeed a Peacemaker skin and not John Cena himself, otherwise it’ll be very odd to see a bunch of guns floating around in the air during a match.

A new Peacemaker skin wouldn’t be the only major addition to Fortnite today, as Epic Games announced a new partnership with the NBA in celebration of the All-Star Game this weekend

Platinum Games earned a reputation for enjoyable single-player action games throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, but recently, the studio has started focusing on producing games beyond the linear appeal of titles such as Bayonetta or Vanquish. Platinum Games vice president Hideki Kamiya recently revealed in an interview that Platinum wants to be seen as more than just an action games studio.

“I think in terms of the expectations of fans in relation to linear action games like NieR and Bayonetta, we understand that we do get some respect for the action games that we’ve created, and we’re always happy to hear that,” Kamiya said to VGC. “But we don’t want to be labeled as ‘the action game company’, we want to be labeled as a company that is interested in original, fun gameplay. I hope that with the things that we do in the future that philosophy will become more apparent to our fans.”

Platinum Games president Atsushi Inaba added that while the studio isn’t abandoning linear action games entirely, it is more focused on exploring ideas that are fun and interesting.

“If we have an interesting idea, I don’t think that there’s any reason that we would say, ‘no, we don’t do that anymore, we’re done with that’. So, we’re interested in both ways,” Inaba said.

One of Platinum’s next games is Babylon’s Fall, a live-service hack-and-slash RPG that launches March 3. Ahead of its official release, a demo containing the opening section of the game will be open to all PlayStation 4 and 5 owners. Sol Cresta, a successor to the ’80s shoot-’em-ups Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, is also out on February 22. Beyond those two games, Kamiya has expressed interest in resurrecting Scalebound, a fantasy adventure that had online elements and cooperative gameplay when it was first announced.

Scalebound was canceled in 2017, but Kamiya is serious about bringing it back from the dead and says that the ball is in Microsoft’s court when it comes to revival talks.

Tango Gameworks, the Bethesda-owned studio behind The Evil Within and the upcoming Ghostwire: Tokyo, have unveiled its latest project: a four-player mobile board game/action hybrid game called Hero Dice.

Hero Dice is a Japanese exclusive turn-based game that uses dice and other board game features in a hero-battling action game. Players will determine their hero’s attack power via a dice roll every turn, but can also add certain effects to the battlefield by using cards.

Hero Dice is currently available for pre-registration in Japan for both iOS and Android devices, though the current known release window is a non-specific “Spring 2022.” There is also no word yet on whether the game will be released outside of Japan.

Tango Gameworks was founded by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami in March 2010, and was eventually purchased by Bethesda seven months later. The team has worked on both games in the Evil Within franchise, and will also be launching Ghostwire: Tokyo on March 25. Both Bethesda and Tango are now part of the Xbox brand after Microsoft acquired Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021.

Former Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk developers have formed Rebel Wolves, a new studio that is working on a dark fantasy game built in Unreal 5 Engine. So far, the team includes design director Daniel Sadowski, narrative director and main writer Jakub Szamalek, animation director Tamara Zawada, art director Bartłomiej Gaweł, with the team boasting credits on games such as Cyberpunk 2077, the Witcher series, Growing Up, and Shadow Warrior 2.

As for the studio’s first title, the unnamed project is designed to be the first entry in a planned saga. “In order to create truly great games, we won’t chase trends or numbers. Our goal is clearly defined: to create memorable games, tell moving stories, and evoke visceral emotions,” Szamalek said in a press release. “It’s ambitious, true–and I’m glad it is. Art needs ambition. I don’t want to create another game. I want to work on titles people will remember.”

Another key part of Rebel Wolves’ identity is its commitment to put the needs of its employees first, as the studio wants to create games on its own terms but not at the cost of burning out its staff. Rebel Wolves will be based in Warsaw, Poland, and its first game will be released on PC and console. More details will be revealed in time, but for now, you can get a feel for what Rebel Wolves is working on by checking out this piece of concept art:

When we talk about quantum computing, there is always the focus on what the ‘quantum’ part of the solution is. Alongside those qubits is often a set of control circuitry, and classical computing power to help make sense of what the quantum bit does – in this instance, classical computing is our typical day-to-day x86 or Arm or others with ones and zeros, rather than the wave functions of quantum computing. Of course, the drive for working quantum computers has been a tough slog, and to be honest, I’m not 100% convinced it’s going to happen, but that doesn’t mean that companies in the industry aren’t working together for a solution. In this instance, we recently spoke with a quantum computing company called Rigetti, who are working with Ampere Computing who make Arm-based cloud processors called Altra, who are planning to introduce a hybrid quantum/classical solution for the cloud in 2023.

If you’re worried that you’re going to inevitably damage your new Steam Deck system, then there’s some good news on the spare parts front. Valve will sell replacement parts for the handheld gaming system, allowing users to do home repairs should the device be subjected to any unforeseen accidents. Through a partnership with iFixit, spare parts and components can be purchased, honoring a customer’s right to repair their Steam Deck.

“iFixit will be one of the authorized sellers of Steam Deck replacement parts – as well as replacement parts for the Valve Index VR kit,” Valve explained in an update on Steam. “We are still hammering out the details, and will be sharing more info on this soon.”

If you’re unfamiliar with iFixit, the company offers replacement parts through its stores that can be used to mend a variety of items that range from gadgets to game consoles. Steam Deck parts aren’t available to order just yet, but expect that to change once the fine print between it and Valve has been finalized.

In addition to the CAD files that Valve released–which for now lets you 3D print a Steam Deck shell–it looks like there’ll be more than one option for repairing any damage to the less vulnerable parts of the Steam Deck. Just remember, there’s still a slight chance that you might void the warranty on your own life if you choose to do so.

The Steam Deck’s first wave launches on February 25, and early impressions on the system have been largely positive so far. While you’ll have to wait to get your hands on one when the next batch arrives later this year, you can check out our Steam Deck preorder hub for more details.
