Shortly after Elden Ring came out, players discovered, somehow, that a few of the game’s walls could be destroyed by hitting them roughly 50 times. We tested it ourselves, with 45 swings required on a wall in Volcano Manor, but it turns out this was a bug. The walls have been fixed in the latest patch, as has a certain especially deadly little enemy.

YouTube user Zullie the Witch tried the latest Elden Ring version 1.04 patch out to see if it fixed the not-illusory walls. It did, as they’re now apparently indestructable. They didn’t serve much purpose to begin with, as the Volcano Manor wall was simply another entrance to an easily accessible room. Of course, it still had us wondering if it was a secret From Software put there on purpose.

Additionally, Zullie confirmed the game’s bleeding dog enemy type has been patched so it doesn’t accidentally instant-kill you instead of simply knocking off a chunk of health via the bleed effect. If you get surrounded by these enemies, they’re quite dangerous, but the bugged version was one of the deadliest enemies in the game when by itself.

Elden Ring patch 1.04 changed a whole bunch of stuff in the game, though it didn’t have any major nerfs like previous updates. Incantations and sorceries have been adjusted, and the tutorial at the beginning has been made nearly impossible to miss. If you do still need some help and you’re on PC, you can always try the Let Me Solo Her mod.

The world of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is set to grow, as 2K and Gearbox Software have officially announced the first DLC for the game–and it’s out very, very soon.

The DLC is called Coiled Captors, and it launches April 21. The first of four post-launch expansions in the season pass, the DLC kicks off in Dreamveil Overlook, where the fortune teller Vesper awaits players.

“Eons ago, the Coiled naga got the biggest catch of all: an old god. They trapped the being within the sharp-toothed, leathery-skinned body of a mighty seawarg, caging it deep within an icy mountain,” reads a line from the DLC’s description. “Only you have the power to free him from his fleshy prison–but doing so means wading through wintery wastelands, arid ruins, and flooding caverns full of enemies.”

The Coiled Captors DLC includes a new boss to fight named “Chums,” also known as the Old God. This boss has four “powerful” forms that it morphs into throughout battle. There are a host of other enemies to defeat, too, including a killer shark.

There is also new new loot to find, including weapons, gear, and cosmetics. Defeating each form of Chum gets you a new Lost Soul that can be spent to spin Vesper’s Wheel of Fate for a chance to earn additional weapons, gear, and items. The Coiled Captors DLC also connects with Wonderlands’ Chaos Chamber, which is the game’s replayable endgame mode, with Chums being added to the mix.

For more, check out the Coiled Captors announced trailer above. GameSpot’s Wonderlands review scored the game a 7/10.

The best Fortnite landing spots in Season 2 are the ones that offer more than just loads of loot. Grabbing items and weapons early is important, but the Chapter 3 map has a handful of locations that give you even more, such as special cover, vehicles, and easy access to important NPCs. Where some of Chapter 2’s best landing spots let us linger for longer before the storm closed in, most of Chapter 3, Season 2’s top picks don’t offer that luxury. You’ll need to finish your business fast and move on, lest you risk getting caught in the storm.

The Daily Bugle

The Daily Bugle is, without question, one of the season’s top drop spots, and not just because it features nearly five dozen chests to open. The building complex is a bit of a labyrinth, which is ideal for hiding, setting traps, or even just stashing some extra items while you loot everything around you. Since the Bugle is at the edge of the map, it’s not somewhere you can linger for too long, though there’s usually enough time to get your inventory in order and see a few dozen competitors bumped off before jumping into the fray yourself–literally, if you use the Bugle’s web trampolines to get around.

Chonker’s Speedway

Chonker’s Speedway and its dirt track race course are one of the more standout zones in Season 2. The speedway has a solid mix of cover and loot, with plenty of places to hole up if need be and more than 30 chests to plunder. If you’re after high-level items, you can head to the Seven Outpost in the southeastern portion of the area. As you’d expect from a speedway, there are also several sports cars you can hop in, each already equipped with off-road tires. That’s good whether you’re up for a ride around the race course or just need to make tracks on the rest of the map.

Sleepy Sound

Sleepy Sound is your ideal suburb, with access to a number of handy amenities to make each battle just a little bit easier This is more than just Chapter 3’s basic neighborhood. Alongside the quiet houses full of chests and the streets ripe with materials for harvesting, you’ve got a body of water to fish in, cars to steal, and even a gas station to refuel at. The only downside is how far north Sleepy Sound is. This is a spot you’ll want to move through quickly in most cases, before the storm closes in and cuts you off.

Shifty Shafts

Shifty Shafts is one of the few areas that’s not prone to getting cut off the first time the storm shrinks. What it lacks in loot, Shifty Shafts makes up for in places to hide–and, usually, a fair number of item drops from players who weren’t quite so lucky. The shafts themselves have solid defensive potential without you even having to build any structures, but if you do prefer a spot of construction, you can turn the shafts into a veritable fortress until the storm closes in. If you don’t feel like fighting for a while, consider dropping here first unless the Battle Bus flies directly overhead.

Sanctuary

Dropping in Sanctuary is a bit of a gamble, though one that has a potentially high payoff. There’s usually no one else in the area, and once you’re there, you have the advantage of picking off explorers while they swim to the islands. The islands themselves have plenty of good loot to set yourself up with, along with several NPCs, including The Visitor and The Foundation. There’s even a Seven Outpost on the southeastern island. Like Sleepy Sound, though, you won’t want to linger here. Being on the edge of the map means it often gets swallowed up in the storm within the first few minutes.

Camp Cuddle

Camp Cuddle may seem a bit out of the way for a good landing spot, but that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile. There’s just enough loot to get started with, four NPCs who may spawn there, and plenty of opportunity to fish, for those keen on the aquatic pastime. If you’re after a quieter, more laid back start to the match, this is the landing spot for you. Make sure to travel north before you leave and check out the Seven Outpost near the coast.

Details on Game Boy and Game Boy Advance emulators for the Nintendo Switch has reportedly leaked online, alongside a long list of games that have allegedly been tested on the software.

As spotted by Twitter user Trashbandatcoot, files containing emulators in development by Nintendo Europe Research and Development originally leaked onto 4Chan under the code names of Hioyo for Game Boy software and Sloop for Game Boy Advance emulation. Another Twitter user by the name of RatgorlHunter uploaded alleged camera footage of the emulators booting up and running on Switch, although their account has since been deleted.

On top of that, Pokemon and gaming leaks account PoryLeeks told Kotaku that the emulator only works on a Switch dev kit currently. As for the games that could be emulated on the software, dozens of titles have been tested so far and include a number of classic Nintendo games and hidden gems. The leaked list spotted by VGC includes:

Rumors of a Game Boy and Game Boy Advance virtual console for the Switch began making the rounds last year, although Nintendo has yet to confirm its existence. The Switch currently has several retro consoles and games available on it–NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and N64–as part of Nintendo’s regular and premium subscription services. A Game Boy virtual console was previously available on the Nintendo 3DS, although the Game Boy Advance has received much less exposure over the years after it was replaced by the Nintendo DS.

While 10 games were made available when the handheld console first launched as part of a 3DS ambassadors program and a GBA virtual console was available on the Wii U, the best option to play GBA titles with more modern hardware has been through enthusiast devices such as the handheld Analog Pocket or Hyperkin’s console that can plug directly into your TV–If you still have the original carts, that is.

Elden Ring’s previously easy-to-miss tutorial, the appropriately titled Cave of Knowledge, is now basically impossible to miss.

The change comes as part of Elden Ring patch 1.04, which in addition to balancing a number of weapons, spells, and addressing various bugs, has also added a mandatory prompt towards the beginning of the game to make sure players know about its optional tutorial.

As confirmed by Eurogamer, shortly after dying to (or defeating) the game’s first enemy and reawakening in a cave, a prompt appears that reads “Jump into the hole ahead, and you will find the Cave of Knowledge. There, you can learn more about game controls and basic actions, as well as other tips that may be helpful during your adventures in the Lands Between.”

Some players and critics have lambasted the fact that the Cave of Knowledge tutorial was optional and so easy to walk right past, as unless they interacted with the environment to learn more and took a leap of faith, it wasn’t entirely clear what awaited players at the bottom of the hole. Based on Elden Ring’s sales numbers, there are likely a huge number of new players journeying through the Lands Between who maybe aren’t familiar with some of the quirks of previous From Software games, like Dark Souls, from which Elden Ring heavily borrows. With that in mind, it makes sense that the developer would want to make sure new players start on the right foot by exploring the tutorial instead of wandering around Limgrave struggling to figure out basic game functions.

Patch 1.04 is the second major balance patch for Elden Ring following the game’s launch. The previous patch 1.03 nerfed the fan-favorite Ash of War Hoarfrost Stomp and the popular Mimic Tear summon, along with other changes. Patch 1.04, on the other hand, seems to make dozens of spells and weapon abilities better, either through decreasing their cast time, reducing the amount of stamina or FP they consume, or even outright increasing the damage they deal.

Fortnite’s 20.20 patch notes have been released, and the war between the Imagined Order and the player-led Resistance has once again changed locales. While the two sides battle, a familiar weapon is coming out of the vault, and the next player poll is open between two longtime favorite items.

After winning skirmishes at both The Daily Bugle and Condo Canyon, the Resistance are now taking the fight to the IO at Coney Crossroads located just northeast of the center of the map. As with the previous two locations, players who aid the Resistance forces in repelling the IO will gain significant rewards after all waves have been defeated.

The fight between the IO and the Resistance continues to rage.

While the battle for Coney Crossroads rages, The Origin has a few quests that need completion specifically in Zero Build mode. Completing all of the quests will earn the player a new Secret Sledge pickaxe, but each quest will have multiple stages to complete within a specific timeframe. The schedule for this special set of quests is as follows:

Quest 1: Begins April 22 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and ends April 26 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET

Players must finish Quest 1 by April 26 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET to move to Quest 2.

Quest 2: Begins April 26 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and ends April 28 at 8:59 AM ET

Players must finish Quest 2 by April 28 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET to move to Quest 3.

Quest 3: Begins April 28 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and ends April 30 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET

Players must finish Quest 3 by April 30 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET to move to Quest 3.

Quest 4: Begins April 30 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and ends May 2 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET

Players must finish Quest 4 by May 2 at 5:59 AM PT / 8:59 AM ET to earn the Secret Sledge pickaxe.

To help in both of these initiatives, the Ranger Shotgun has been unvaulted in the Fortnite 20.20 patch. This long-range shotgun only fires one shell per reload, but its firing distance and damage output make it a formidable weapon. The Ranger Shotgun can be found in chests or as ground loot, or it can be purchased from certain vending machines and NPCs.

The Ranger Shotgun is out of the vault and ready for action.

Finally, along with the Ranger Shotgun, players can choose between two support items as part of the next voting session. The Boogie Bomb–the grenade that creates an instant party upon detonation–is on the ballot against the quick escape tool called the Rift-To-Go. As usual, players can vote at specific Voting Stations by using Bars found around the map, with the winning item added to the loot pool later in the season.

If you need a fresh look to take on the Fortnite 20.20 patch challenges, the Fortnite Coachella skins are still available with a new set coming April 21. If you’re looking for something a little more heroic, there may be two more Marvel skins coming through the Fortnite X Marvel Zero War limited comic series.

Twitter has announced a new shareholder rights plan in a move known as a poison pill, as a way to block Elon Musk’s $41 billion buyout offer. The plan, as reported by The Verge, would allow certain shareholders to purchase more stock in response to anyone trying to gain control of the company through the open market.

The move was announced in a Twitter press release, which says the Twitter board adopted the plan in response to “an unsolicited, non-binding proposal to acquire Twitter.” Listed in the press release as a limited duration shareholder rights plan, the maneuver is known in the finance world as a poison pill and is rarely implemented, and even more rarely triggered.

The plan will remain in effect for the next year, and will only be triggered if Musk acquires more than a 15% share of ownership in the company. If the plan were triggered, it would require Musk to spend an increasing amount of money to maintain a majority stake in the company–though the billionaire has suggested that he may be willing to throw increasing amounts of cash at the company.

Elon Musk’s history with Twitter goes back a long way, but came to a head recently when he quietly became the company’s largest shareholder. He initially accepted a seat on the company’s board with the condition that he would be unable to purchase more than a 15% share of the company, but he later backed out of the offer and launched a hostile takeover bid.

Musk has critisized the prospect of board action against his offer, saying that it “would be utterly indefensible not to put this offer to a shareholder vote,” and has threatened to dump his shares in the company if the offer is not accepted. In a TED interview, Musk has said that his plans for Twitter involve preserving the platform as a place for free speech.

Elden Ring player Let Me Solo Her has become something of a celebrity in the game, appearing in other player’s worlds in his iconic, pot-headed get-up to slay Malenia, blade of Miquella. Now, modder Garden of Eyes has made a mod that will let you summon an NPC version of Let Me Solo Her to help with Malenia, as picked up by Polygon.

Let Me Solo Her has quickly become iconic for his Elden Ring prowess, taking on one of the game’s most difficult bosses with nothing more than a loincloth, a pot on his head, and two katanas. While the player has been prolific in helping other Tarnished beat Malenia, the real Let Me Solo Her isn’t always going to be available to help out, which is why modder Garden of Eyes has made a version that can be summoned on demand.

The mod swaps out the Let Me Solo Her summon for Lone Wolf Ashes, meaning players can summon him whenever they need a hand. The player’s iconic kit is replicated in the modded character, and from the boss fights shown in the preview video, the NPC version has some of his skills, too.

The mod is available for paid subscribers on Garden of Eyes’ Patreon, unlocking at the $5 monthly tier. If you’d rather try and take on Malenia yourself without the help from either another player or a Spirit Summon, you can check out our Malenia boss battle guide.

In previous From Software games, Faith builds never quite made it to S tier status. However, Elden Ring’s closed network test showed off a handful of truly broken Incantations that made the community wonder if Faith would finally see its time in the sun. Now that the dust has settled, its clear that while Incantations might not quite stack up against the raw power of Sorceries, they more than make up for it with utility and versatility, making Faith builds a viable strategy to get you through the PvE experience and even into PvP.

Here are the top 10 Incantations in Elden Ring. Rather than focus on raw power alone, we’ve taken into consideration ease of use, functionality, and how early in the game you can get your hands on the spells.

Lightning Spear

Lightning Spear

Lightning Spear is one of the most crucial Incantations to add to your toolbox early. With a modest FP cost, great range, and quick windup time, it is among the best ways to pick off smaller enemies in a group from a distance, or lure out bigger threats to take on one at a time. With this in your arsenal, you can get through the whole game without ever having to rely on throwing knives or arrows. Beware of the windup animation, though; your character will take a large step forward upon releasing the bolt, which can send you right off a cliff if you’re not careful.

You’ll find the spell in the Dragon Cult Prayerbook, dropped by a knight near the Artist’s Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes. Hand it in to Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows to purchase.

Aspects of the Crucible: Tail

Aspects of the Crucible: Tail

All three Crucible Incantations are playable, but Aspect of the Crucible: Tail is the best of the bunch. It deals heavy Strike damage to break through tough armor sets, and can even be charged up to add a heavier, wider-reaching follow-up swipe to the attack. The timing can be a bit tricky to nail down, but once you do, Aspects of the Crucible: Tail can be one of the most effective offensive spells against both single enemies and groups through the early and mid-game. It’s even buffed by Crucible armor!

Getting your hands on the spell won’t come easy, however. It’s dropped by the Crucible Knight in the Stormhill Evergoal, which is easily one of the toughest fights you’ll encounter early on in Limgrave.

Rotten Breath

Rotten Breath

If there’s one Dragon Communion Incantation you’ll want access to in Elden Ring, Rotten Breath is it. Inflicting devastating amounts of Scarlet Rot over a large area in seconds, it can make some of the toughest fights in the whole game feel like a joke. Even Radahn will be vanquished by the spell on its own, for example. The long windup time can leave you vulnerable, so getting it off must be timed carefully. But once you do, get some distance and let the status effect do all the work. Rotten Breath-and-run is a cheesy strategy you’ll want access to until the credits roll.

You can get the spell for a single Dragon Heart from the Dragon Communion Alter.

Flame, Cleanse Me

Flame, Cleanse Me

While not the flashiest of all the Incantations on this list, Flame, Cleanse me is arguably the most important utility spell in the game. It alleviates buildup and cures both Poison and Scarlet Rot for a negligible FP cost. Some of the hardest environmental challenges (Lake of Rot, for example) and bosses (see: Melania) in the game are made so by endlessly inflicting you with these deadly status effects. Having a way to quickly cure yourself without relying on consumables like Boluses is truly invaluable.

Find the spell in the Fire Monk camp near the Church of Vows in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Bestial Sling

Bestial Sling

With a wildly quick windup and one of the lowest FP costs of all spells in the game, Bestial Sling is the best Bestial Incantation. It spreads out after casting, making it a viable way to deal with groups of enemies in PvE, and is also a great way to stagger PvP opponents and punish them for getting too close and aggressive. Super cheap and spammable, Bestial Sling is a must-have offensive Incantation. Pair it with the Clawmark Seal or Stonebarb Cracked Tear to increase the already high Poise damage it is capable of inflicting.

You can pick up the spell from Gurranq, Beast Clergyman after delivering your second Deathroot.

Frenzied Burst

Frenzied Burst

Frenzied Burst is one of the hardest spells in the game to dodge. After a modest windup, it fires an incredibly fast laser beam from the caster’s eyes, causing Madness buildup and capable of hitting targets a substantial distance away. It’s a solid option for picking off enemies from afar in PvE, but where Frenzied Burst really shines in PvP. You can keep your distance and keep your opponent on the defensive, forcing them to worry about dodging the next burst rather than employing their own offensive strategy.

Frenzied Burst is dropped by a Teardrop Scarab South of the Church of Inhibition in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Erdtree Heal

Erdtree Heal

If you want to play with a heal spell, there’s no better choice than Erdtree Heal. It might have a high Faith requirement (42) and FP cost (65), but it’s worth it with the massive amount of HP it restores. The spell is especially useful in cooperative play, as it heals both your character and any nearby allies you’re playing with.

After defeating Malekith, Black Blade of Death, head back to the Queen’s Bedchamber in the Leyndell to find the spell.

Swam of Flies

Swarm of Flies

It’s no secret that Bleed is one of the most broken strategies in Elden Ring, and Swarm of Flies is part of what makes it so. Unleashing a homing swarm of bloodflies before the caster that inflicts the Hemorrhage status effect on the enemy it connects with, Swarm of Flies is the best Incantation for any Bleed build with the Faith to cast it. A great strategy is to start chipping away with the spell from a distance, then finish the enemy off with your weapon of choice (we recommend Rivers of Blood) once the buildup meter has filled. Pair it with the White Mask or Lord of Blood’s Exultation for extra devastating effect.

You can find Swarm of Flies on a corpse just north of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace in Mohgwyn Palace.

Ancient Dragon’s Lightning Strike

Ancient Dragon’s Lightning Strike

Ancient Dragon’s Lightning Strike is capable of dealing some of the highest damage over a large area of any Incantation in the game. The spells brings down a flurry of red lightning strikes, hitting whatever enemy you were locked onto, and dealing massive AOE damage all around them. Even in the late game, you can clear out whole mobs with a single cast. At only 36 FP, it is the best bang for your buck when facing swarms of enemies in PvE.

The spell is found in the Ancient Dragon Prayerbook in the Crumbling Farum Azula. Turn it in to Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows to gain access.

Giantsflame Take Thee

Giantsflame Take Thee

If you’re looking for the best fireball in the game, look no further than Giantsflame Take Thee. The spell hurls a massive fireball at the target, capable of taking out multiple enemies caught in its path and causing a massive AOE explosion where it lands. Given the number of bosses weak to fire throughout Elden Ring, Giantsflame Take Thee is certainly an Incantation you’ll want access to. It might not be as flashy as Flame of the Fell God, but it’s cheaper, quicker to cast, requires less Faith, and is ultimately the best spell for fire mages.

To gain access, you’ll need the Giant’s Prayerbook. Find it on top of Guardian’s Garrison in the Mountaintop of the Giants.
