Elden Ring has enough sorceries to make your head spin, but not all of them are equally useful. One particularly strong option can be found with just a bit of time and effort early in the game, though, and it will no doubt be able to last you through the entire adventure. Rock Sling is a great spell for stunning enemies and dealing big damage, so follow this guide to find out where you can find this excellent sorcery.

Rock Sling explained

Rock Sling is a sorcery that requires 18 Intelligence to cast. It fires three rocks from the earth that do great damage when they all connect. It also can stagger enemies quickly, making it great for opening them up for critical hits.

Rock Sling’s item description reads:

One of the glintstone sorceries that manipulates gravitational forces. Pulls a clumb of rocks from the earth and sends them flying. This sorcery can be cast while in motion. A gravitational technique studied by the young Radahn. His master was an Alabaster Lord with skin of stone.

Where to find Rock Sling

Rock Sling can be found within the Street of Sages Ruins within the swamp that takes up the middle of Caelid. Gaining access to this area is fairly easy from the beginning of the game by exiting Limgrave from the northeast and heading straight down to the ruins.

Street of Sages Ruins

When you arrive at your destination, seek out a set of steps in the northern part of the ruins. Though it’s surrounded by mages that can poison you, they’re fairly easy to run by. Take the steps down into the cellar here to find Rock Sling.

While you’re in the area, be sure to grab the Meteorite Staff, which scales amazingly with Intelligence and boosts the damage you do with gravity spells like Rock Sling. It’s an exceptional staff for any sorcerer, and it can last you well into the late game, at which point you will be able to level up better options far enough to finally make it worth replacing.

Using powerful sorceries and equipping great magic-focused gear in Elden Ring requires you to bump up your Intelligence stat quite a bit. If you’re looking for a bit of a boon to the stat without investing the points, though, you can always try out the Stargazer Heirloom talisman. And in this guide, we’ll tell you where you can find it.

Stargazer Heirloom talisman explained

The Stargazer Heirloom talisman raises your Intelligence by 5 points. Though it won’t make a major difference to your damage, it can be very useful as a temporary option to help you reach stat requirements for weapons and sorceries while you save up the runes to permanently increase your Intelligence.

The Stargazer Heirloom talisman’s item description reads:

A talisman engraved with the legend of a queen. Raises intelligence. The young astrologer gazed at the night sky as she walked. She had always chased the stars every step of her journey. Then she met the full moon — and, in time, the astrologer became a queen.

Where to find the Stargazer Heirloom talisman

The Stargazer Heirloom can be obtained at the very top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia, which is located to the very east of Liurnia of the Lakes. However, you’ll need to go through quite a lot to eventually access this section of the game, so don’t expect this one to be an early-game grab.

You’ll first have to invert the Carian Study Hall [1] before you can access the Divine Tower of Liurnia [2]. This requires following a long and winding quest given to you by Ranni, who is located in the upper left section of Liurnia of the Lakes. Follow our Ranni Quest Guide for more on that.

This one isn’t going to be an easy early-game pickup.

When you finally reach the point of Ranni’s quest where you obtain the Carian Inverted Statue, return to the Carian Study Hall and place the item on the desk at the entrance. This will invert the entire tower, at which point you’ll be able to reach new areas within it.

Carefully make your way through the inverted Carian Study Hall. It contains some tense platforming and some irritating enemies, but it’s all relatively straightforward, so it shouldn’t be too overwhelming if you just take your time and don’t take many risks.

Eventually, you’ll take a lift up to a bridge where you’ll have to fight a Godskin Noble, one of Elden Ring’s most obnoxious and frequently reused bosses. He has long combos and hits really hard, so it may take you a few tries to take him out. Once you do, though, continue across the bridge into the Divine Tower of Liurnia.

Inside the Divine Tower of Liurnia, make your way up the steps to the Site of Grace, then continue further. Eventually, you’ll reach the very top of the tower where you’ll find the Stargazer Heirloom talisman on a corpse.

Hotfix 23 is now live in Baldur’s Gate 3. The update makes a few bug fixes, and notably addresses the strange phenomenon that caused NPCs to be omniscient of your actions.

“For some reason, NPCs at Camp and in the Druid Grove were becoming hostile if you had trespassed in other areas,” Larian Studios writes in the Hotfix 23 patch notes. “Omniscience is neat, but not if it leads to bloodshed. We’ve put some metaphorical blinkers on everyone, so they have no choice but to turn a blind eye towards your misadventures.”

The fix applies to older saves as well, so it should retroactively address any NPCs that managed to somehow see you performing illegal actions in other areas and subsequently become hostile.

Hotfix 23 also makes strides towards getting Baldur’s Gate 3 out of early access and closer to a full release by updating the “Command: Halt” spell so that the placeholder VFX no longer appears. Larian Studios estimates that Baldur’s Gate 3 will exit early access in 2023 as it still has “about a year left of development.”

Since its launch in early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has had seven major patches–the most recent of which added the Barbarian class. Patch 7 also added improvised weapons, made improvements to nearly 700 cinematics, and overhauled the HUD UI.

Ubisoft has announced an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla crossover with card game Uno, which will be available today.

The Uno Valhalla DLC will see the game’s board play a crucial part in the gameplay, as you’ll be able to travel across it and collect cargo to unlock exclusive perks. There’ll also be random events that throws an axe into gameplay, such as Glory Regained where players take cargo to match the player with the highest cargo, and Raid where a player steals cargo from the target player. Eivor can use a unique Raven card to travel to the area of their choice and claim rewards.

If you’re interested in playing Uno with an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla theme, the game is available on Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through the Ubisoft Store. The DLC can be purchased on its own for $5, while the Ultimate Edition of Uno will cost you $20.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been a big hit for Ubisoft since it launched in 2020, and it recently grew with the addition of the gigantic Dawn of Ragnarok expansion. Other expansions include the Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris campaigns, as well as Valhalla’s Crossover Story which saw Eivor meet Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Kassandra.

Beyond that content, the franchise will grow with a live-service game called Assassin’s Creed Infinity and it’s rumored that a small-scale game starring Valhalla’s antagonist Basim is also in development. If that game is in development, it’s likely to be announced at a Ubisoft Showcase that is reportedly coming later this year.

Rogue Legacy 2’s release date is coming on April 28, Cellar Door has announced. The roguelike sequel will hit PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on that date. And if you haven’t happened to play the original Rogue Legacy, it’s being offered as a freebie on the Epic Games Store for a limited time.

Rogue Legacy was a roguelike with a unique hook: You followed a family of heroes across the generations as they inherited traits from their parents. Rogue Legacy 2 retains this core idea, but makes some further additions. It uses a new art style with 3D character models, adds new weapons, abilities, and 15 classes, and expands the biome generation for more variety. New classes include the long-ranged Ranger who can rain down poison arrows, a nimble Dragon Lancer, and a Bard who conquers foes with the power of song. The inter-generational traits that serve as the backbone have also gotten a big revision, with modifiers that encourage you to take risks with debilitating traits for bigger rewards.

On top of expanding on the existing systems of Rogue Legacy, the sequel also adds Heirlooms for permanent new abilities. Those Heirlooms help unlock the world’s secrets so that you’ll progress like a real metroidvania, in addition to the roguelike elements. The announcement also notes that Rogue Legacy 2 adds accessibility tools that give you fine control over damage and health or even flight to handle platforming segments. And once you’ve finished the game, a New Game Plus feature lets you choose how to ramp up the difficulty for further runs.

Rogue Legacy 2 has been available in early access on PC, but this will mark the 1.0 release. The original Rogue Legacy is now free on the Epic Games Store as part of its rotating free games list. It will be available April 7-13.

Gran Turismo 7 just received a substantial update, which has added new events to the game and rebalances the in-game economy.

After fans criticized the game for a recent patch that saw race payouts significantly reduced, developer Polyphony addressed the issue in March by promising to make Gran Turismo 7 more rewarding. The new patch’s overhaul of the game’s economy has increased race rewards for several World Circuit, Arcade, and Custom races, and payouts for Daily Race modes have also been increased.

On top of all that, the maximum cap for in-game credits has been raised to 100 million Cr. More content has also been added, such as the World Touring Car 600 Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise, World Touring Car 700 24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit, and the World Touring Car 800 Sardegna Road Track A.

On a technical level, expect tweaks to a number of car physics, race tracks, and graphical features. AI opponents should put up more of a fight after switching tires during a wet weather event, the image quality of smoke in race photos has been improved, and the Goodwood track will be more lenient on players if they cut the white line on that circuit.

You can see all of the patch notes and more on the Gran Turismo 7 website, which goes into detail on some of these changes.

Frustration for controversial gameplay tweaks in Gran Turismo 7 was expressed on GameSpot’s sister site Metacritic where the game was review-bombed. This is just one of several large updates planned for Gran Turismo 7, as last month Polyphony revealed its long-term plans for the game. These include the addition of endurance races, online time trials, and a marketplace that allows its players to once again sell their cars.

The hottest advancement in memory technology for desktop computers in recent years is undoubtedly the release of DDR5 memory and Intel’s 12th Gen Core series of processors. Not only does DDR5 memory yield higher memory bandwidth for many different use cases, but DDR5 also offers a generational increase in memory capacity, allowing for higher capacity UDIMMs over time.

But, as always, the memory market is anything but homogenous. Even with just three actual DRAM manufacturers, DIMM vendors are offering DDR5 at a slew of clockspeeds, both official JEDEC speeds and X.M.P. profile memory that essentially comes overclocked out of the box. There are also notable differences in today’s common DDR5 DIMM configurations, including single-sided UDIMMs (1Rx8), and dual-sided memory (2Rx8), as well as UDIMMs with different capacities.

In today’s piece, we’re looking at DDR5-4800 memory from Samsung, including 2 x 32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, and 4 x 16 GB, to measure the performance differences between single and dual rank memory, as well as any differences between running DDR5 in one DIMM Per Channel (DPC) or two. Finally, as we have DDR5-4800 DIMMs with DRAM from Micron and SK Hynix, too, we’ll also be looking at these in our results, to see if there are any performance differences among the three memory manufacturers.
