Diablo Immortal is filled with different items to make your character stronger, but none are more important than Legendary Gems. You can have six of these equipped at a time, one in each primary gear slot, and they provide massive stats boosts and unique effects that can define your character’s build.

The catch is that not all Legendary Gems are created equal. Some are more rare and powerful than others, which can make figuring out how to get the best gems a little confusing. Here’s what you need to know on how to acquire these essential items–and how to make them even more powerful in Blizzard’s mobile-first RPG.

How to find Legendary Gems

Legendary Gems come in a few different varieties: 1-Star, 2-Star, and 5-Star. As you can imagine, 5-Star gems are vastly superior to 1-Star and 2-Star Legendary Gems, but they are also far more rare and difficult to obtain.

How do you actually acquire these gems? They are primarily found by completing Elder Rifts in conjunction with Rare or Legendary Crests. These are consumable items that can be purchased or acquired through the battle pass or other in-game shop bundles. Using a Rare Crest gives you a chance to find a 1- or 2-Star Legendary Gem upon completing an Elder Rift, while using a Legendary Crest guarantees that a Legendary Gem will drop, with a small chance of getting a 5-Star Legendary Gem. The more crests you slot into an Elder Rift, the more gems you get at the end as a reward.

There are, however, a few other ways to acquire Legendary Gems. They can be purchased (or sold) by other players on the Marketplace using Platinum, and they can also be crafted using a combination of Runes and Platinum. You can craft 1- and 2-Star Legendary Gems directly at the Jeweler, or craft a random Legendary Gem for a chance of gaining a 5-Star Legendary Gem. You can also use Fading Ember at the Fading Ember Merchant to purchase select 1- and 2-Star Legendary Gems, with the merchant’s stock changing weekly. Last but not least, some Legendary Gems can even be found in the game’s battle pass.

Because of how rare, and how few, 5-Star Legendary Gems currently are in the game, you’ll primarily be looking to find and upgrade 2-Star Legendary Gems starting out.

Finding and equipping Legendary Gems that synergize with your class and build is key.

How to upgrade Legendary Gems

To make Legendary Gems even more powerful, you’ll need to rank them up. Doing this boosts the gem’s Combat Rating, Resonance bonus, and its primary attributes. At rank 3, another effect for the Legendary Gem will unlock, while at rank 5 the gem will also award bonus magic find. Legendary Gems can be upgraded to a maximum of rank 10, after which they can be used to “awaken” a Legendary item, which grants various additional effects depending on the Legendary item being awakened.

The catch is that ranking up Legendary Gems doesn’t come easy. To rank gems up, you need to acquire duplicates of that same gem as well as a resource called Gem Power, which is earned from breaking down unneeded Legendary Gems. The more powerful the gem and the higher the rank, the more duplicates and more Gem Power that is needed to rank up.

Ranking up Legendary Gems is critical to boosting your character’s power.

Best Legendary Gems

Finding and upgrading Legendary Gems is a key part of Diablo Immortal’s endgame, so it will be a long process. It may be tempting to use and upgrade the first Legendary Gem you find, but keep in mind that some are far more powerful than others, and certain gems can be more useful for specific classes. Most 1-Star Legendary Gems are only useful in the interim until you find more 2-Star gems, and if you’re lucky enough to find a 5-Star gem, you’ll want to upgrade it as fast as possible and build your character around it. Here are some of the best Legendary Gems to keep an eye out for.

Knockout City has officially split from its publisher EA, and is now a free-to-play game. That means anybody can hop into some chaotic multiplayer dodgeball fun. Knockout City is kicking off the free-to-play festivities with the start of Season 6: City of Tomorrow, which includes a new ball, Brawl Pass, Street Rank tier, and more. Here is everything new in Knockout City Season 6.

A new ball and League Play rewards

Season 6 brings some small updates to the gameplay of Knockout City, with the main addition being a new type of dodgeball. The Boomerang Ball is a cyan colored ball that comes back after being thrown. If you hit a player or hit a wall with the Boomerang Ball, it will head right back towards you. You can even use the wall to gain charge, but if an opponent catches the ball after it hits the wall, they can use that charge against you.

League Play is getting a slight upgrade, with the addition of rank rewards at all tiers, so the best of the best can be rewarded appropriately. There will be Player Icons, Holobux, Energy Drinks, Style Chips, and exclusive cosmetics at every tier from Bronze all the way up to Diamond, so even those players who are just doing their best will get rewarded for playing League Play.

New cosmetics and improved Hideouts

You can now play a soccer minigame in the Hideout in-between matches.

Season 6 also includes a variety of new cosmetics, including a new Brawl Pass. It also includes the addition of more Concept Cars. These cars let crews roll up to each match in futuristic rides. Concept Cars were previously introduced in Season 3, but Season 6 brings a bunch of new options that players can pick up for their crew in the store.

Season 6 also brings an update to Hideouts. Hideouts now include more things for you and your crew to do while waiting for the next match, with minigames similar to soccer and basketball, more music tracks for the jukebox, and even some customization options for the space, so it can be tailored to your style.

New Brawl Pass and Street Rank tiers

The Season 6 Brawl Pass includes exclusive cosmetics, like the Among Us crossover.

Season 6 also brings a new Brawl Pass to Knockout City, which includes a bunch of cosmetics exclusive to Season 6: City of Tomorrow and an Among Us crossover as well. Players can advance the pass by completing different Brawl Pass contracts during matches and you can use Holobux (premium currency) to upgrade the pass for even more exclusive rewards.

The update also includes a new highest tier for the Street Rank tiers. Now, after players complete the Diamond tier at level 100, they will move on to the Chrome tier. The Chrome tier includes 100 levels of Holobux, Style Chips, Energy Drinks, and brand new Chrome rarity cosmetics, all of which can be earned just by playing the game. Season 6 also includes a new energy drink, the Starfruit Special. This energy drink provides bonus XP for every hit with a special dodgeball you can get for the duration of the boost.

Season 6 roadmap

Knockout City will have five events over the next three months.

Season 6 of Knockout City will also be filled out with a variety of events. It kicks off with the City of Tomorrow launch event, but Velan Studios has released a roadmap teasing a few more events that will happen over the next few months, including the return of a few past events.

The Season 6 roadmap event schedule is:

Welcome one and all to another day of Wordle, today is June 1 and I’m sure you can get today’s puzzle. Today’s Wordle is a word I forgot was one until I remembered I use it when talking about one of my favorite genres of games and movies!

Have you tried today’s Wordle yet? Today’s answer is an interesting word given its similarity to a few others in its spelling. Despite that, it’s used pretty infrequently, really only appearing in the context of horror, so you could be at a loss unless you really know what you’re looking at.

Otherwise, you’re going to need a strong start and we’ve got just the list of great starting words you all could use to get just that.

Today’s Wordle Answer – June 1, 2022

As usual, your answer awaits at the very bottom, but if you want a few hints to help you along, I’ve got you covered.

Hint 1: You tend to hear today’s word in old homes or haunted houses, which is why some expected Gone Home, a first-person narrative game, to be a horror game just based on its audio. Okay it also looked really creepy, but the audio helps a lot.Hint 2: Amanita Design, the studio behind Machinarium, made a game called today’s Wordle.

Have you guessed today’s Wordle yet? I’ve got you if you’re still struggling, don’t worry. Today’s Wordle is…creak. The house from Gone Home had a lot of creaks that made it seem like someone else was there with you and that constantly terrified me. And Creaks is a game from Amanita that features monsters called…well they’re called Creaks. That’s all for today, but come back tomorrow for more Wordle hints and tricks!

Sonic Frontiers got a more detailed video today that showed off gameplay of the iconic hedgehog racing around a puzzle-filled island. Described as an “open-zone” game by Sega, Sonic’s latest adventure will see him doing far more than just running around the environment, as he’ll be able to put his climbing skills to good use as well.

Like yesterday’s teaser, the new Sonic Frontiers trailer had a healthy mix of speed, rail-grinding, and platforming to show off as well, although there were no enemy battles to look at as Sega opted for a safe tour of the mystery island.

Sonic appears to have two speed settings for when he explores the island, as he can easily transition from a brisk jog to a much quicker dash when he needs to get from point A to point B. You can see the gameplay (via IGN) below:

Sega is aiming to earn high review scores for Sonic Frontiers and has recruited Sonic Lost World, Sonic Forces, and Sonic Colors director Morio Kishimoto to helm this project. Originally announced last December, Sega said at the time that the game is designed to be “enjoyed by longtime Sonic fans and action-adventure enthusiasts alike.”

June will see plenty of other announcements made during Not-E3 month, and with Sega confirmed to be one of the 30 companies partnered up with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest Live event, it’s likely that a few more details on Sonic Frontiers will be shared later this month. For more on the game, you can check out GameSpot’s feature on everything that we know about Sonic Frontiers.

Diablo Immortal has arrived a day early on mobile, but thanks to cross-progression, you can start monster slaying now and have all your progress carry over to the PC version.

This latest entry in Blizzard’s storied ARPG franchise is the first game in the series to be free-to-play, available on mobile, and feature MMO-like elements. Despite all that, it still very much feels like a Diablo game, as you hack your way through demon hordes, search for better loot, and battle grotesque bosses.

Like many free-to-play games these days, it includes a battle pass, paid cosmetics, and premium currencies, but all actual story content is free. All future content updates, like new classes, additional dungeons, and new story quests, will be free as well.

To enable cross-progression with PC, you’ll need to log in to your Battle.net account via the Diablo Immortal app either before or after having selected a server and created a character. Your progress will then be synced across both PC and mobile. The game will launch on PC June 2. The game is also cross-play, with mobile players and PC players able to play on the same servers and group together for the game’s various dungeons, raids, and PvP content.

Diablo Immortal was announced in 2018 as mobile-only, with Blizzard only recently deciding to bring the game to PC. That decision was made because Blizzard realized many of the franchise’s biggest fans would likely play Diablo Immortal on PC via emulators, and decided to give players an official and polished way to experience the game on PC.

EA Sports has announced the cover star for Madden NFL 23, and it’s none other than John Madden himself. The legendary football coach and commentator, who died in 2021, will be seen on three different covers, one featuring him as a coach, one depicting him as a broadcaster, and a stylized rendering of him from Philadelphia-based artist Chuck Styles for the digital All Madden Edition.

John Madden was featured on the cover of EA’s early Madden games, but it has been more than 20 years since he graced a cover. Over the last two decades, EA has chosen an athlete to be on the cover, or in the case of Madden NFL 22, two athletes–Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.

June 1 is a memorable day for the Madden franchise, as the original John Madden Football launched on this day in 1988. To celebrate the occasion, EA is not only announcing John Madden as the cover star for this year’s game, but the publisher has dedicated its new field at its Redwood Shores headquarters as “John Madden Field.” A ceremony is being held today with EA CEO Andrew Wilson, members of John Madden’s family, and EA employees to commemorate the field.

EA also shared the first details on what’s new in Madden NFL 23. The game will include two versions of coach Madden leading two opposing teams of “All Madden” athletes in the 1970s Oakland Coliseum. Additionally, EA put together “remastered audio clips” of Madden that act as a callback to his days as a broadcaster years ago.

EA has yet to announce any new gameplay features for Madden NFL 23 or a release date, but the game is expected to launch in August ahead of the new NFL season in September. The reveal trailer for Madden NFL 23 is coming tomorrow, June 2, at 10 AM ET. A new feature called “Fieldsense” will be part of the game, but it remains to be seen what this is.

Madden coached the Oakland Raiders to great success, including a Super Bowl victory in 1976. After retiring from coaching with the second-highest winning percentage of any coach (behind the legendary Vince Lombardi), he moved on to become an NFL analyst and won several Emmy awards. The heavy travel demanded by Madden’s broadcast job was aggravated by a severe fear of flying, leading the analyst to drive from destination to destination in a tricked-out RV called “The Madden cruiser.”

As of 2016, Madden was still helping out with the video game series.

After John Madden died in December 2021, EA Sports said, “John Madden was synonymous with football for more than 50 years. His knowledge of the game was second only to his love for it, and his appreciation for everyone that ever stepped on the gridiron. A humble champion, a willing teacher, and forever a coach.”

If you’re looking forward to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, both games are available to preorder now at major retailers and the Nintendo Switch eShop. Alongside a new gameplay trailer, Nintendo announced that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release November 18, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The ninth generation of Pokemon will introduce a new region to explore and new Pokemon to catch. Preorders are available for $60 at Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet preorder bonuses

Historically, Pokemon games include some sort of preorder bonus, but none are announced for Pokemon Scarlet (or Violet) yet. Pokemon Legends: Arceus, for example, offered a unique in-game mask item for preorder customers. Chances are Pokemon Scarlet (and Violet) will have extra pre-purchase items, too, and we’ll update this guide once information is available.

In addition to in-game bonuses, it’s possible we’ll see retailer-exclusive offers. Retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target often have physical bonuses for Nintendo Switch exclusives, including some of the other Pokemon games on Switch.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet officially kick off the ninth Pokémon generation. As with any new mainline Pokemon game, there are three new starters to pick from: the grass-type kitten, Sprigatito; fire Pokemon Fuecoco, which look like a chili pepper-shaped alligator; and Quaxly, a water-type duck Pokemon with a poofy pompadour haircut. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Legendary Pokemon have been confirmed as Koraidon and Miradon. Even more new and returning Pokemon are sure to be confirmed ahead of Scarlet and Violet’s release.

Crossovers aren’t uncommon for fighting games these days, but Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is about to take the concept to a whole other level with its Tekken 7 downloadable content that launches today.

Available for $10, the DLC essentially gives Sega’s Virtua Fighter 5 a cosmetic makeover, reskinning it to look like Tekken 7. While the gameplay is still the same, you’ll be able to slug it out in bouts that feature a Tekken-inspired user interface and various characters dressed up as Bandai Namco’s iconic King of the Iron Fist brawlers.

Some of the transformations shown off include Akira as Kazuya Mishima, El Blaze as King, Sarah as Nina, and Lau as Heihachi. To complete the Tekken revamp, there’ll also be 20 background music tracks included and new titles in this DLC.

Virtua Fighter 5 launched a year ago, reviving the game using Yakuza studio Ryu ga Gotoku’s Dragon Engine and added high-definition upgrades for all fighters, arenas, and cinematics. Sega hasn’t committed to a Virtua Fighter 6 yet, and the company is busy focusing on Super Game projects, such as the upcoming Sonic Frontiers.

As for Tekken, an anime series adaptation will be punching its way onto Netflix later this year.

As Pokemon Go Fest returns for 2022, Niantic is also bringing back Ultra Unlocks, a bonus that can be earned for upcoming events by completing Global Challenges with other players. For the first time, Niantic is offering multiple Ultra Unlocks for a number of its upcoming events, with challenges available at the four upcoming Pokemon Go Fest events.

The first chance to earn an Ultra Unlock bonus is coming up this weekend during the global Pokemon Go Fest ticketed event. If trainers worldwide manage to complete 20 Global Challenges across the two-day event, an Ultra Unlock event will be added to the upcoming Adventure Week.

Players don’t have to buy a ticket to contribute to the Ultra Unlock effort–while the Global Challenge Arena is only open to ticket-holders on June 4, it will then open up to all players for the remainder of the event on June 5.

The next bonus on offer will unlock an Ultra event for the Pokemon Go Fest finale event on August 27, and can be earned by completing the Berlin Pokemon Go Fest‘s Global Challenge. Trainers who aren’t able to be at the in-person events will still be able to contibute towards the Global Challenges.

Both the Seattle and Sapporo events will also have Global Challenges to unlock Ultra bonuses for future events that have yet to be announced by Niantic.

We won’t have details on what the Ultra Unlock bonuses will entail until they’re actually unlocked, with Niantic promising that information will be unveiled shortly after each Pokemon Go Fest event ends. Last year’s Ultra Unlock bonus involved a series of three themed events, with each making a variety of Pokemon, including Shiny versions of Legendary Pokemon Dialga and Palkia, easier to obtain.

Adventure Week is back for 2022, kicking off the brand-new Season of Go with a week of Rock-type and Fossil Pokemon. The event will begin on Tuesday June 7 at 10 AM in trainers’ local time, and continue until Sunday June 12 at 8 PM.

The event brings two new Rock-type Pokemon into Pokemon Go for the first time–Tyrunt and Amaura, the two fossil Pokemon introduced for Pokemon X and Y. Trainers can either hatch the new Pokemon from 7km Eggs obtained during the event, or encounter them by doing Field Research tasks.

As well as the debuting Pokemon, lucky trainers will have the chance to catch Shiny Tirtouga and Shiny Archen for the first time in Pokemon Go. A number of other Rock-type and Fossil Pokemon will be spotlighted during the event, in wild encounters, Raids, and Field Research, with the following Pokemon appearing more often:
