Not to be confused with the very real Xbox Series X fridge from Microsoft, engineer and YouTuber Michael Pick has built a giant, working Xbox Series X the size of a refrigerator. In a video uploaded Monday that documents the process of building the giant console, Pick says the massive system stands at over 6.82 feet tall and 3.41 feet wide–and weighs over 250 pounds.

Although it’s essentially just a wooden frame and housing for Microsoft’s official Xbox Series X console, the system–which was donated to the YMCA Youth and Teen Development Center in Atlanta, Georgia–took several weeks to build. According to Pick’s video, the most challenging part of the build was getting the curved top of the console right, which alone took tweeks and “[really] helps this build come to life even though nobody will see the top” since it’s so tall.

The build also includes a few tweaks to the official design, such as additional back connection ports and other details on top. When switched on, the giant frame sends a signal to the Xbox Series X inside, which sends a signal to an Arduino microcontroller, which then tells a motor to turn on the actual console inside. (Last year, Pick also made another working curiosity, a monster-sized Nintendo Switch.)

If you couldn’t possibly see the use for a nearly 7-foot-tall console, American Girl still has a set of miniature Xbox accessories including a teeny-tiny Xbox Series X, and even smaller copy of Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Call of Duty Season 4: Mercenaries of Fortune goes live for Vanguard on June 22, bringing a multiplayer map and plenty of Zombies content. Sledgehammer Games has revealed the patch notes for the big update, breaking down all the new content and changes to expect for Season 4.

In addition to Vanguard getting Call of Duty: WWII’s USS Texas 1945 multiplayer map, the Blueprint Gun Game multiplayer mode makes its Vanguard debut. Players must eliminate an enemy to cycle to the next weapon, while meleeing an enemy will set them back one weapon.

A new season of Call of Duty means the Ranked Play leaderboards are also reset. Players will need to complete 5 Skill Evaluation matches to earn a new Skill Rating and get placed into a Skill Division and Tier for the new competitive season. Additionally, there are new rewards to earn for Season 4.

A few changes arrive for weapons in Season 4. The patch notes include the ability to inspect equipped weapons has been added to Vanguard, and the developer also says it corrected the magazine attachment requirements for several weapon camo challenges.

For Zombies mode, the Shi No Numa map arrives with new seasonal Zombies challenges, a main storyline Easter egg, and the Wunderwaffe DG-2 Wonder Weapon quest.

Sledgehammer Games has adjusted the Sacrificial Hearts feature to award players every 3 rounds for Shi No Numa, whereas players get a heart for every objective round completed on the objective-based maps. The Altar of Covenants inventory will also refresh every 3 rounds on Shi No Numa.

The full Season 4 patch notes can be found below, as shared by Sledgehammer Games.

Season 4 is bringing the new Fortune’s Keep map to Warzone, and a Terminator collab has been confirmed by Activision. For more on what to expect for the Mercenaries of Fortune update, check out everything we know about Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard Season 4.

Lilith Games has announced the next playable civilization coming to the MMOSLG Rise of Kingdoms: ancient Egypt.

The developer announced the addition of ancient Egypt last week (June 16), saying that this new update comes with a “robust new storyline, the ‘Egypt Must Rise!’ update” that apparently “dramatically expands Rise of Kingdoms’ deep RTS gameplay.” Players can now experience the update on both PC and mobile platforms.

Rise of Kingdoms key art.

“Powerful, intelligent, strategic, and undoubtedly stylish, ancient Egypt ruled for almost 30 centuries before its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C,” reads a press release. “Now, their civilization and all their boons enter the scene in Rise of Kingdoms, giving players a whole new fascinating society to explore and lead to opulence.”

The update doesn’t just add in ancient Egypt as a new civilization, however. It also adds new Commanders, including Imhotep, “expert pyramid architect and high priest,” as well as “‘The Warrior King’ himself, Thurmose III.”

On top of this addition, Rise of Kingdoms already offers 13 “historically accurate kingdoms to command,” including countries like Britain, Spain, Germany, France, Japan, and the Vikings.

For those unfamiliar with the genre, MMOSLG stands for massively multiplayer online simulation game, so it blends MMO-style gameplay with simulation-game style gameplay. Battles are in real time, and take place across a huge, open map.

The PlayStation 5 is the biggest console that Sony has made to date, but one intrepid fan has managed to considerably shrink the device down to a much slimmer size. DIY YouTuber Matt Perks took on the challenge to downsize the PS5, eventually creating a console that is just under an inch in height and utilizes some ingenious design to reach this sleeker form factor.

In a process that took months, Perkins took a regular PS5 and stripped it apart, placing the motherboard and other core components into a copper shell. It was the PS5 heatsink that took up a substantial amount of space within the original console, which Perkins jettisoned entirely and replaced with an external water-cooling solution. The catch here is that the water-cooling system itself is quite large and is externally housed within a separate copper shell mounted to the wall, but it got the job done.

Perkins also used the copper sheeting to better regulate the heat from the PS5’s internal hardware, and in his testing afterward, he discovered that his setup actually did a far better job at keeping the SSD, RAM, and other components from overheating. There were a few setbacks along the way, but once Perkins had emerged triumphant–thanks in part to a PS5 from his sponsor being gutted to get the project back on track–he’d managed to create a slimmer and more elegant PS5 slim console.

You can see the entire fascinating process from start to finish in the video above, and for more custom projects from Perkins, you can take a look at how he created a high-end PS5 out of brass.

If you’re in the market for a more regular PS5 console, you can check out our PS5 restock feature to see when shops near you have fresh supplies of the device. In other PlayStation news, it’s rumored that Sony will release a PS5 “Pro” controller with removable analog sticks and rear paddle triggers, similar to the Xbox Elite controller.

It’s been one week since the latest trailer for Fall Guys Season 1: Free For All was revealed at Summer Game Fest and now players can hop in to see all of the new content for themselves. The season is now live for all players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC users on the Epic Games Store. As the name of the season suggests, Fall Guys is now free-to-play for all new players. Previously, the game cost $20 and was only available on PC and PlayStation 4. However, the developers at Mediatonic have reset the game in many ways, and that starts with Season 1.

There is a plethora of new and exciting content coming to the Blunderdome this season in Fall Guys. While the headline is the free-to-play model and arrival on new consoles, there’s also plenty more to get excited about for all players. Below, fans can see exactly what they can expect in the new season of the “greatest game show on Earth.”

Brand new functionality arrives in Fall Guys

In addition to the game going from $20 to free and arriving on last and current-gen consoles, there’s also been some added functionality to Fall Guys. This starts with the game moving from Steam to the Epic Games Store on PC. Steam players who previously bought Fall Guys will still retain their copy and receive updates, but new players will only be able to download the game from EGS. This is bigger news than it seems, as the move to the Epic platform allows the developers to implement both crossplay and cross-progression.

Essentially, this means that Fall Guys players will make one account and that account can be shared on any platform. If players level up that account on PC, they will be able to log into it on PlayStation 5 and retain that progress. Also, players will be able to party up with their friends on different platforms. All players need to do is ensure that they have their friends added to their friend list in Fall Guys. For veteran players, this doesn’t mean anything more than now having the ability to play anywhere with anyone. The core experience of Fall Guys won’t be altered from previous seasons.

Rewards for veteran players

Any longtime player of Fall Guys might see the new free-to-play model as a bad thing. After all, these players originally paid the $20 entry fee to gain access to the game. While the game will be free-to-play from now on, veteran players will be receiving a reward package that’s inaccessible to any player who downloads the game on or after June 21.

All players who previously entered the Blunderdome before the game goes free-to-play will receive the Legacy Pack for free. This pack includes the Season Pass in addition to exclusive cosmetic items. The pack is available to any player who originally paid $20 to buy Fall Guys and can be redeemed upon logging into the game after the Season 1 update has gone live.

New Season Pass

Show-Bucks are a new currency in Fall Guys.

Speaking of the Season Pass, Season 1: Free For All will, of course, introduce a fresh pass of cosmetics for players to work their way through. Mediatonic states that there are 100 tiers of Costumes, Emotes, Celebrations, and much more available on the pass. In addition to those cosmetics, players can also earn the new in-game currency, Show-Bucks. On the Season 1 Pass, players can earn 300 Show-Bucks on the free path and 1,200 Show-Bucks on the premium version. If players save these Show-Bucks wisely, they can use them to buy the Season 2 Pass whenever it releases. Players can also use Show-Bucks to buy items within the Fall Guys Store. Most items that are purchasable with Show-Bucks are of Uncommon rarity or higher.

A wallop of new content

Tomorrow we launch Fall Guys: Free for All!
We are SO hyped to go free on all platforms, and to bring you all our best levels yet, biggest collaborations ever, and coolest costumes that we’ve ever made!!

— Fall Guys – Free For All – JUNE 21st 👑 (@FallGuysGame) June 20, 2022

Finally, the last bit of content coming at the start of Season 1: Free For All is strictly related to gameplay, the bread and butter of the Fall Guys experience. There are a plethora of new Rounds and Obstacles coming to the game, including Hex-A-Ring, Volleyfall, Speed Circuit, The Blast Ball, Track Attack, The Swiveller, and Bounce Party.

Hex-A-Ring can be thought of as a combination of Hex-A-Gone and Roll Off. The map looks like Roll Off but features disappearing hexagon tiles as the floor. Players must use their skills to avoid the rotating cylinder that’s coming at them while also staying on available hexagon tiles on the floor. There are three layers of tiles and once all three layers are gone, a hole is created in that spot that players can fall through. Hex-A-Ring is a Crown Final map.

Volleyfall looks to be Fall Guys’ take on volleyball, while Track Attack is a bouncy obstacle course that looks to test players’ balance and map knowledge. Blast Ball is a mode that allows players to use the new explosive obstacles to blow other players out of the arena. This is also a Crown Final map.

The Swiveller is a circular arena that has players dodging multiple rolling bars as they go around the track and Bounce Party requires players to jump through hoops to score points. Finally, Speed Circuit is a multi-layered map that has players dodging numerous obstacles.

All of this is now available in Fall Guys Season 1: Free For All.

Over the last decade or so, advancements in CPU and GPU architectures have combined extremely well with the relentless march of Moore’s Law on the silicon front. Together, these have resulted in hand-held devices that have more computing power than huge and power-hungry machines from the turn of the century. On the desktop front, small form-factor (SFF) machines are now becoming a viable option for demanding professional use-cases. CAD, modeling, and simulation capabilities that required big iron servers or massive tower workstations just a few years back are now capable of being served by compact systems.

Workstation notebooks integrating top-end mobile CPUs and professional graphics solutions from AMD (FirePro) or NVIDIA (Quadro Mobile / RTX Professional) have been around since the mid-2000s. The advent of UCFF and SFF PCs has slowly brought these notebook platforms to the desktop. Zotac was one of the early players in this market, and continues to introduce new products in the Zotac ZBOX Q Series. The company has two distinct lines – one with a notebook CPU and a professional mobile GPU (with a 2.65L volume), and another with a workstation CPU (Xeons up to 80W) and a professional mobile GPU (with a 5.85L volume).

Today, Lenovo is also entering the SFF workstation PC market with its ThinkStation P360 Ultra models. The company already has tiny workstations that do not include support for discrete GPUs, and that is fixed in the new Ultra systems. Featuring desktop Alder Lake with an Intel W680 chipset (allowing for ECC RAM option), these systems also optionally support discrete graphics cards – up to NVIDIA RTX A5000 Mobile. Four SODIMM slots allow for up to 128GB of ECC or non-ECC DDR5-4000 memory. Two PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 slots and a SATA III port behind a 2.5″ drive slot are also available, with RAID possibility for the M.2 SSDs. Depending on the choice of CPU and GPU, Lenovo plans to equip the system with one of three 89% efficiency external power adapters – 170W, 230W, or 300W.

The front panel has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, as well as a combo audio jack. The vanilla iGPU version has four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, and two RJ-45 LAN ports (1x 2.5 GbE, and 1x 1 GbE). On the WLAN front, the non-vPro option is the Wi-Fi 6 AX201, while the vPro one is the Wi-Fi 6E AX211. In addition to the PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion slot for the discrete GPU, the system also includes support for a PCIe 3.0 x4 card such as the Intel I350-T2 dual-port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

With dimensions of 87mm x 223mm x 202mm, the whole package comes in at 3.92L. In order to cram the functionality into such a chassis, Lenovo has employed a custom dual-sided motherboard with a unique cooling solution, as indicated in the teardown picture above. A blower fan is placed above the two M.2 slots to ensure that thte PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSDs can operate without any thermal issues.

As is usual for Lenovo’s business / professional-oriented PCs, these systems are tested to military grade requirements and come with ISV certifications fro companies such as Autodesk, ANSYS, Dassault, PTC, Siemens, etc. Pricing starts at $1299 for the base model without a discrete GPU.

The ThinkStation P360 Ultra joins Lenovo’s already-announced P360 Tiny and the P360 Tower models. The P360 Tiny doesn’t support discrete GPUs, while the P360 Tower goes overboard with support for 3.5″ drives, and up to four PCIe expansion cards, along with a 750W PSU. Most workstation use-cases can get by without all those bells and whistles. Additional options for the end consumer are always welcome, and that is where the P360 Ultra comes into play.

Once again a multi-media collaboration with Fortnite has leaked. This time, the leak claims multiple new Naruto characters will make an appearance in the Battle Royale soon.

The leak comes from Twitter user Pepitochicken who shared a picture of a page reportedly from an issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. The page features images of Hinata, Gaara, Itachi, and Orichimaru from the popular franchise alongside the Fortnite logo and text announcing the collaboration. The image also includes the supposed start date of the crossover: June 24. The tweet has since been cross-posted on Reddit and across the internet.

Further news has corroborated the leak, with popular Fortnite news curator and leaker ShiinaBR posting a banner image from a train in Japan. That image features the aforementioned characters, along with Naruto, posing around the Fortnite battle bus. The banner also calls the crossover event “Fortnite x Naruto: Rivals” and presents the same date: June 24. The branding makes sense, considering that Gaara and Itachi are prominent rivals of Naruto and Sasuke respectively. It’s a natural evolution of the previous collaboration.

This leak is part of a long line of rumored Fortnite skins and collaborations. Many of these rumors have come to fruition, including the original appearance of Naruto characters in the game last year. Only time will tell, but the appearance of these beloved characters in Fortnite is likely a safe bet.
