If you’re on the hunt for a great Black Friday gaming mouse deal, and you’re also looking for a sale on a solid gaming headset, you can find both in a single box. The Razer “battle bundle” contains both our favorite gaming mouse and a solid choice for a budget headset sold together. As a bonus, this Black Friday deal even has a mouse pad thrown in, and the bundle only costs $67.99 (opens in new tab). That’s a pretty sweet box!
In this battle bundle, we’re mostly excited about the Black Friday mouse deal (opens in new tab): The Razer DeathAdder V2 is our top pick for the best gaming mouse and the best wired mouse on the market today, with the best in-class 20,000 CPI sensor, optical click sensors that boost its durability and responsiveness, and an extremely comfortable feel. The side-buttons aren’t the best on the DeathAdder V2, but everything else about it is top-notch. (Here’s our full DeathAdder V2 review.)
The gaming headset in the bundle is the Razer Blackshark V2 X, which isn’t as great as our favorite, the Blackshark V2, but it’s still a solid choice for a budget headset. It’s lightweight, has a comfortable fit with nicely cushioned leatherette earpieces, and is pretty good when it comes to noise cancellation. It’s basically the V2 without the detachable mic.
With both of these bundled together, plus a Gigantus V2 mousepad with a micro-weave cloth surface and an anti-slip base, its a bunch of nice gaming peripherals that come together in a single package.
If you know someone who’s just getting started with PC gaming, or have a friend or relative who’s building or buying a new PC, I think this would make a great gift. As a bonus, even though you’ve generously bought them three things, you only have to wrap one box.

When Vampire Survivors left early access in October, developer poncle said it would probably start working on something new, but promised that “support for VS will also carry on.” Today it followed through on that promise with the announcement of the 1.1.0 “Tiny Update,” which actually sounds pretty big to me.
Vampire Survivors really caught me by surprise. It was immediately hard to stop playing, and the PC Gamer crew couldn’t stop talking about it when the 1.0 version launched. I didn’t expect just how deep it is. At first blush it looks like a fairly straightforward twin-stick shooter, but the more I played, the more things kept happening: I was discovering new weapons and upgrades, unlocking new characters, and being teleported to secret, weird areas, all of it without warning or even an acknowledgement that such things could happen.
Yesterday the PC Gamer team was talking about Vampire Survivors so I decided I should finally give it a try because it looks kind of weird but interesting or whatever and 24 hours later I’m sat here screaming LET DEATH BE MY NAMEOctober 22, 2022

More of that will be happening following the release of the 1.1.0 update. Poncle said it will include a new stage called Tiny Bridge that will drop the hero into the midst of a battle between two bloodthirsty factions, a new ‘secret’ character called Scorej-Oni (not really a secret now, I guess), a new powerup item, two new achievements, and various “minor improvements” including bug fixes, updates to the pause menu, and quicker loading times.
Detailed patch notes for the Vampire Survivors “Tiny Update” will be released tomorrow, November 24, which is also when the update itself will go live.

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion sometime in 2023. Since then the regulatory wheels have begun grinding, not least because an acquisition on this scale would be by some distance the largest in the industry’s history: and some of Activision Blizzard’s franchises, Call of Duty in particular, have attracted the most attention.
There have been various shots fired across the bow as the process has rumbled on, and Sony’s latest filings repeat a lot of what we’ve heard before. To be frank about it, Sony just wants to make this acquisition as difficult as possible for Microsoft, and will say more-or-less anything in order to do so. Also keep in mind that what is in a filing like this has been written by a Sony legal team: This isn’t a bare-chested Jim Ryan bellowing from the rooftops.
One of the key areas of focus for Sony is Call of Duty, which it believes Microsoft will look to make exclusive. Microsoft has given various assurances about keeping it on PlayStation, but Sony says it doesn’t believe them, and points to previous Microsoft acquisitions where studios went on to produce games exclusively for PC and Xbox. But Sony goes even further than this, and claims that no other game in existence can compete with or replicate what Call of Duty is doing.
This leads Sony’s lawyers to make the surprising choice of dunking on Battlefield. “Other publishers do not have the resources or expertise to match its success. To give a concrete example, Electronic Arts (one of the largest thirdparty developers after Activision) has tried for many years to produce a rival to Call of Duty with its Battlefield series.”
So how has that been going? “Despite the similarities between Call of Duty and Battlefield and despite EA’s track record in developing other successful AAA franchises (such as FIFA, Mass Effect, Need for Speed, and Star Wars: Battlefront)—the Battlefield franchise cannot keep up. As of August 2021, more than 400 million Call of Duty games had been sold, while Battlefield had sold just 88.7 million copies”
Just 88.7 million? Those paupers. This is what you get when a lawyer writes about games: It’s not like Mass Effect or Star Wars: Battlefront are in any way comparable to an annualised series like FIFA or COD. And hilariously enough, Star Wars: Battlefront is developed by… DICE, best-known as the developers of Battlefield. No-one tell the regulators eh?
The surprising thing about this is seeing Sony, which tends to adopt the platform-holder position of being above it all, throwing shade like this at Battlefield. It’s not that what is being said is necessarily inaccurate, because there’s no denying one series sells more than another, but it feels a bit like Sony’s saying stuff out loud that it wouldn’t usually do.
There’s little else new in the filing, beyond the vaguest of vague references to PlayStation 6, in the context of Microsoft offering to keep Activision Blizzard’s games on Sony platforms until 2027. “By the time SIE launched the next generation of its console (which is likely to occur around [REDACTED], it would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles.” So don’t expect a PS6 until 2028?
At the start of the event, the Eliksni’s home in the shadow of The Tower wasn’t exactly 5-star. (Image credit: Bungie)
Two things are certain in Destiny:
1) The development team will come up with increasingly esoteric reasons for players to head back into activities they’ve already beaten thousands of times.
2) The players will find the quickest, cheesiest path of least resistance between them and the rewards being dangled.
There is no better proof of this adage than the current ‘Improving the Eliksni Quarters’ community event, which started at yesterday’s reset, and is due to run until December 6. But, thanks to an easily performed exploit which we detailed earlier, Bungie’s arbitrary target for the event has already been smashed into atoms.
The event involved playing all the usual Destiny 2 stuff—strikes, PvP, raids, lost sectors etc.—in order to collect coins and other materials. These were then donated into a big charity box in The Tower, with the proceeds being spent on improving the slum area that the Eliksni (or ‘Fallen’) refugees are holed up in. It’s essentially just end of season busywork to pad playtime, with a fun cosmetic/narrative payoff and free gear for our troubles.
However, the fact the donation box also accepts a couple of other materials proved crucial, because due to a loophole in Destiny 2’s never-less-than Byzantine in-game economy, players were able to to dupe infinite amounts of Treasure Coordinates. As you can see from the graph below, once the exploit became well-publicised (oops!) the donation rate absolutely exploded.
We should finish this in like 4.5 hours at this current pace LMAOOOOOTURN IN YOUR MATS + DO THE COORDINATE GLITCH!! pic.twitter.com/3bsr4x21ecNovember 23, 2022

Sure enough, shortly after today’s reset the whole challenge was donezo. All the upgrades have now been made to the Eliksni Quarters, which you can visit in-game via the HELM. Sure enough there’s a little garden and some other noticeable improvements, though it still seems a bit hovely for my taste. I am grateful to my fellow cheesemongers though, as I didn’t really fancy grinding for coins. I can now focus on the real work of trying to solo flawless the Grasp of Avarice dungeon before the Restoration x2 gets nerfed at the end of the season.
If you need to collect any of the rewards from the event, which include a new ghost shell and an ascendant shard, coins and materials can still be dumped into the donation chest in the tower regardless of the event effectively being over. And as far as I can tell the exploit still works for now, so you know what to do.

Twitch is continuing to build upon preventative measures against child predators on the platform, updating its policy to include mandatory phone verification for what it called “vulnerable accounts” alongside other steps to keep under-13s safe and away from the site, as they’re prohibited from using Twitch under its existing policy.
“Keeping people safe online requires a constantly evolving approach. This is true of our big picture for safety on Twitch, but it’s especially true for a topic like child predation, where the potential harm is so appalling and unspeakable,” Twitch said in its update today.
The update comes two months after Twitch initially highlighted methods it was using to combat predation. The changes came in response to a September Bloomberg report that explored the egregious ways child predators engaged with the site to view and manipulate children who were livestreaming, despite Twitch technically disallowing anyone under the age of 13 from using the site. Children between the ages of 14 and 17, by Twitch’s rules, are allowed to stream and make an account on the site.
Bloomberg’s reporting noted numerous instances where tens or hundreds of viewers watched underaged children, encouraging them to perform various tasks or acts in the chat. Through a researcher, Bloomberg was able to verify 1,976 accounts that followed numerous children, with the report stating that the site had discovered even more accounts that had not been catalogued by the researcher.
At the time, Twitch said it would “continue to aggressively expand the staff, technologies, industry relationships and internal processes” to stop children under 13 from using the site and prevent predators from exploiting anyone who slipped through the cracks. Now the platform has offered further explanation into what it’s doing to prevent the problem growing.
Twitch clarified that “there is no single fix to prevent predation,” and added that it couldn’t share all its methods “to avoid giving bad actors information they could use to evade our efforts.” But from now, the site is implementing mandatory phone verification requirements “Before potentially vulnerable accounts are able to livestream,” plus blocking users previously suspended for being underage from making new accounts. Twitch also said it is “continuing to refine the moderation technology” used by staff to review reports.
Default privacy settings for whispers have been changed, certain search terms to find streams have been blocked, and Twitch has acquired language processing artificial intelligence Spirit AI to aid “in building more nuanced classifiers for detecting harms of all kinds in written text on Twitch.” These changes have all happened in the last two months, with the site continuing to work on preventative measures.
Twitch classifies child predation as “imminent harm,” which falls under one of the site’s most prioritised categories for threats. It says “collaboration is critical,” encouraging anyone with information about this malicious activity on Twitch to share so that appropriate action can be taken.
CD Projekt has dropped the first trailer for the next-gen update coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in December, finally giving us our first look at the big visual overhaul and other changes coming to the hit RPG.
The original Witcher 3 looked pretty spectacular to start with, especially if you were fortunate enough to play it on a 4K-capable PC. (I did, and believe me, it looked great.)
At first glance, then, the next-gen update may not seem that dramatic as improvements go. But there’s more going on than just a boost in resolution: CD Projekt has previously confirmed that the update will incorporate support for ray tracing, various performance enhancements, and support for AMD’s FSR.
The update will also add a spot of new content inspired by the Netflix series, including—this may be the most important part—the infamous Nilfgaardian Ballsack Armor (opens in new tab).
Seriously, get a look at this stuff:
Okay, maybe that’s not the most important part. That honor more likely goes to the addition of a native photo mode, which was not previously available (in 2016 CD Projekt added support for Nvidia Ansel (opens in new tab), instead). It was an odd exclusion: The Witcher 3 is a game of striking visuals, especially at 4K, and especially when the game moves to Toussaint in the Blood and Wine expansion.
This is a quick-and-dirty screenshot I captured during my playthrough—imagine what someone with proper tools and a modicum of photographic talent could come up with.
The update will also make a host of other smaller improvements, like improvements to the map, integration of “community-made favorite” mods, changes to magic casting, and a number of quest fixes. Cross-progression is also being added, so you can play and advance your journey across any platform you like.
If you enjoy reading patch notes for CDPR’s games, then you’ll have a good time with the free next-gen update for The Witcher 3, featuring: ✅ Improved visuals✅ Camera, controls and UI changes✅ Photo mode✅ Integrated mods✅ Quest fixes✅ Netflix DLC✅ Cross-progression pic.twitter.com/7Fh2q7omPvNovember 23, 2022

The Witcher 3 next-gen update is set to go live on December 14, and will be free for all owners of the game. If you’re not an owner of The Witcher 3, it’s currently on sale for 80% off on both Steam (opens in new tab) and GOG (opens in new tab), and in case there’s any doubt it comes highly recommended: Seven years later, it’s still a mainstay of our best RPGs (opens in new tab) list. CD Projekt said a detailed list of all the changes coming in the update will be posted closer to release.
As the inexorable march of time makes mockery of us all, perhaps you’d like to take a moment to vote on which games were good this year? I know I would.
2022 is shaping up to be a big one in videogames history, with a boatload of games out that have the potential to be lifetime experiences for nerds and career-defining releases for developers. We had games like Elden Ring, Total War: Warhammer 3, Uncharted, Persona 5 Royal, and God of War, and that’s just in the first few months of AAA releases. Not even touching the littler games like Return to Monkey Island, Immortality, Rollerdrome, NORCO, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Rogue Legacy 2, HYPER DEMON…
I could go on! But you’re here to vote. You’ve missed the deadline for the Golden Joystick Awards—you can find the winners over at GamesRadar (opens in new tab)—but there are a few others to vote in.
The Game Awards are happening soon, and your deadline to vote is Wednesday, December 7th at 6pm PT. You can vote for The Game Awards here. (opens in new tab) Public votes there count for 10% of the total score towards a game.
The Steam Awards (opens in new tab) is now taking nominations as part of the 2022 Autumn Sale (opens in new tab), and has its usual slate of quirky categories alongside its open Game of the Year call. Boot up your steam client or head over to their website for more on that.
The Esports Awards are open for voting right now, including a vote for Esports Game of The Year. You can find that on esportsawards.com. (opens in new tab)
ModDB is getting their Mod of the Year awards organized, but they aren’t live yet. You can watch that progress on ModDB. (opens in new tab)
There are other awards shows, of course, but not ones you can vote in. Like the DICE awards, which will take place in late February 2023 (opens in new tab) and don’t even have nominees yet.

The Valheim Mistlands Queen is the new boss that arrived with the Mistlands update, which you can play now on the Valheim public testing branch. But finding the Queen’s location on your map and entering her lair to confront her is going to take a lot of exploration, resource gathering, and crafting in the dangerous and misty new biome.
For anyone who has battled the other five Valheim bosses, the process of locating Valheim’s new boss, Vegvisir the Queen, will mostly be familiar, but there’s a new wrinkle when it comes to actually getting the chance to beat her. The other bosses need to be located and summoned with certain items placed in their altars, but the Queen works a little differently. Spoiler alert: There is an image of the Queen at the end of the second section of this guide, so if you want to be completely surprised, turn back now.
How to find the Queen
Valheim Mistlands Queen: How to find the Mistlands boss
Finding the location of the Mistlands Queen is similar to pinpointing the other Valheim bosses. You’ll need to locate a stone tablet with runes on it, and interacting with that stone will add an icon showing the Queen’s location to your map.
In the Mistlands, you need to hunt through the foggy continent for an infested mine, a new type of dungeon. Infested mines can appear in a few different ways from the outside, and it’s tricky to even spot them unless you’ve already got a Valheim Wisplight to break through the heavy mist.
The entrance to an infested mine may be a stairway leading up to a tunnel in the rocks usually guarded by several seekers, the giant insects of the Mistlands. An infested mine may also be under an abandoned dvergr fort, which looks a lot like inhabited forts except there are no Wisplights guiding you to them. The entrance to the infested mine inside an abandoned fort can be found via a spiral staircase leading down from the center.

Once you’re in an infested mine, you’ll need to explore it fully. There are often dvergr gates you can click on to open, secret dvergr passages marked with runes you can click on to access, boarded up passages you can smash open with a weapon, and more staircases you can take deeper down into the mine. Expect to fight seekers, ticks, and seeker brood grubs as you hunt for the boss marker. It will look similar to markers used to find previous bosses.
Not every infested mine will contain a boss marker, so you may need to search through several before you find one. Once you interact with the marker, the Queen’s location will be added to your map.
How to unlock the door
Valheim Mistlands boss: How to unlock the Queen’s door
The Queen’s locked door (Image credit: Iron Gate Studio)
Travel to the Queen’s location on your map—it will be in a Mistlands biome, though not necessarily the same one you found the marker in—and you’ll find a black marble fort with a huge door, plus glowing runestones next to it, telling you the door has been sealed. You’ll need to craft a key called Sealbreaker to enter the Queen’s lair.
To craft the key you’ll need nine sealbreaker fragments, which you can find in the same types of infested lairs you found the marker in. Sealbreaker fragments are usually contained in glass or crystal on a podium you can smash to obtain them. You’ll also need the new crafting station, the Galdr table, which you can unlock once you’ve created refined eitr in the Eitr refinery, to craft the Sealbreaker key. With the key crafted and in your inventory, you can interact with the queen’s door to open it.
A seakbreaker fragment in an infested mine (Image credit: Iron Gate Studios)
Be aware then when you enter the lair the Queen will already be awake and ready to fight. She does not need to be summoned like other Valheim bosses, so be sure you’re ready for combat the moment you step into her lair. The Queen’s lair is huge, dark, and has many wide staircases leading up several levels, with wide walkways on each level. You’ll also encounter scores of seeker brood that will hatch when your walk near them, and the lair will be filled with mist so have a Wisplight with you.
The Queen is an enormous insect, with four large claw-like arms, huge mandibles, and a slug-like body she slithers around with. Despite her great size, she moves and lunges very quickly. Wearing a feather cape will be useful so you can jump off ledges and safely float down to lower levels, while she will have to use the long stairwells to follow you through the lair.

What the Queen drops
The Queen’s drops
After defeating the Queen, she will drop a trophy which can be placed at the starting stones in the very center of the map. Placing the Queen’s trophy will give you a new power, called The Queen. When activated, The Queen’s power gives you:
Faster mining
+100% Eitr regeneration
The Queen also drops a resource simply called “Queen drop,” a pink glowing resource that currently has no use. Like “Yagluth things” had no use before the Mistlands update, the purpose for the Queen drops most likely won’t be known until another future Valheim update. In the meantime, store them somewhere back at your base.
How to resummon the Queen
How to resummon the Queen
After defeating the Queen, if you want to resummon her, you’ll need to locate the Hive seat in her lair, which is an altar typically found on the uppermost level. To respawn her, you’ll need to place three seeker soldier trophies into the Hive seat, and she will respawn close by so you can try to defeat her again to earn another trophy and more drops.

Black Friday week is now in full swing, the sales are flying, and GOG is giving away another game. Today’s offering is Narita Boy (opens in new tab), a combat-heavy pixel-platformer that takes place in a digital world inside a 1980s game console.
We thought Narita Boy was quite good when we reviewed it in 2021. “Slicing and dicing through enemies feels punchy, and there are plenty of ways to take out an enemy without spamming the attack button,” we wrote in our 70% review (opens in new tab). “Boss fights are more challenging, but not as much as I was expecting. These dramatic encounters feel more about showing off the idea behind the creation rather than being actually difficult. One boss battle I had to dodge a giant mechanical carp in a bathhouse as I surfed on a giant floppy disk—which was pretty fantastic.”
It’s not without drawbacks, of course. The world can be confusing and easy to get lost in, and the graphics are a little too retro in places, which sometimes makes it difficult to tell exits and other room features from general background graphics. Overall, though, it “removes the vapidness of ’80s gaming nostalgia and couples it with an epic fantasy narrative with an earnest core,” which is a pretty solid recommendation in my book, and even more so when it’s free.
The Narita Boy giveaway is part of GOG’s own Black Friday sale (opens in new tab), which has deep discounts on all sorts of games and bundles, daily deals (although they seem to be running for two days, so make of that what you will), and publisher collections. As always, my favorite section is the “Deepest Discounts” category, which includes the Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition (opens in new tab) for less than $1 (it includes the soundtrack, which is worth the price all by itself) and Deus Ex: Invisible War (opens in new tab) for the same price, if you want to finally see what it’s really like. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus (opens in new tab) is also 85% off, an excellent price on an excellent shooter.
Newer releases are marked down as well, if that’s your thing, although not as dramatically: Cyberpunk 2077 (opens in new tab) is half price, A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) is 20% off, and Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition (opens in new tab) is 60% off, among others. As always, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition (opens in new tab) is also marked way down, to just a tenner, which is an especially good deal given that the free next-gen update (opens in new tab) is finally about to arrive. (While you’re browsing, though, don’t forget to double-check to see if Steam isn’t offering an even deeper discount—it’s currently running its own Autumn sale (opens in new tab)).
Narita Boy will be free on GOG until 9 am ET on November 25. GOG’s Black Friday sale itself will run until 6 pm ET on November 30—and yes, there will be other game giveaways, so you might want to keep an eye on it. For even more deals, be sure not to miss our running list of the best Black Friday PC gaming deals (opens in new tab) of 2022—it’s everything you need to know about where to spend your money.

The Destiny 2 Eliksni Quarter community event is all about improving the Fallen’s home in the Last City by plundering Captain’s Coins from activities across the system, and placing them in the chest that’s appeared at the centre of the Tower. As with past community events, it’s basically a giant time sink that involves farming activities most people have played thousands of times before. And as such, it can be a little tedious to complete.
However, there is currently an exploit that lets you complete the event grind in mere minutes, getting the rewards, and also improving the Eliksni’s home. It’s a good thing, too—I wasn’t looking forward to feeling terrible about the Fallen living in a shanty town just because I was too lazy to grind. Here’s how the Eliksni Quarter event exploit works so you can get the rewards quickly.
How to get the Eliksni Quarter event rewards fast
To get the rewards for this community event, you’d usually have to donate 2,400 Captain’s Coins, gained by completing activities such as ketchcrash, expeditions, lost sectors, and opening chests. This is the way I did it last night, farming the incredibly short Conflux lost sector on Nessus. However, now the first two improvements have unlocked in the Eliksni Quarter, it’s possible to donate Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments instead of Captain’s Coins, and that’s made it possible to finish the event super quickly via an exploit. This is what you need to do:
Open the Donations Chest at the centre of the tower
Open your Captain’s Atlas in the quest menu
Slot in the Rumored Treasure map
Swap it with another high cost map
Keep swapping them back and forth to get infinite treasure coordinates
Of course, this will require you to have unlocked the Rumored Treasure map from the Star Chart in the H.E.L.M by progressing through the season. If you’ve already used your Rumored Treasure map this week, sadly you’re out of luck until the next reset, and it’s likely Bungie will have patched this by then
If you want to claim that Ascendant Shard and the Swashbuckler Ghost Shell but don’t want to have to grind, I’d suggest doing this as soon as possible. If you stop to donate your treasure coordinates, make sure you don’t have the Rumored Treasure Map slotted in, as this will prevent you from swapping to it and continuing the endless farm.
If by the time you read this it’s been patched, then you’ll just have to do it the old fashioned way. I’d suggest doing the Conflux Lost Sector on Nessus, or Widow’s Walk below the Church in the EDZ, running through and killing the boss to open the chest, before repeating. This will get you 14 Captain’s Coins each time.
