Yesterday saw the 40th annual Golden Joystick Awards and, broadly speaking, Elden Ring had an extremely good night: here’s the full list of winners. One of the things that sets the Joysticks apart is that almost all of the categories are decided by public vote, with over three million people casting ballots this year. And when it came to the PC Game of the Year category, democracy triumphed over pizazz.

Return to Monkey Island won, beating out Neon White, Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Teardown, Total War: Warhammer 3, and Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters. Take THAT Games Workshop fans. I was pleasantly surprised by this, but what followed was, if you’ll excuse this cynical old man for a moment, really quite heartwarming.

Tactical FPS Squad has an eyebrow raising update coming on December 7. Called ‘Red Star Rising’, it will add a tenth playable faction to the game in the shape of the People’s Liberation Army of China. A press release says this continues developer Offworld Industries’ “effort to tap into real-world military history” as Squad evolves over time.

The People’s Liberation Army, once known as the Red Army, consists of China’s land, sea, and air forces, and is the largest military force in the world. In Squad terms, the PLA adds seven new vehicles, 15 weapons and deployables, and the ability to call in a tactical bombing run from the JH-&A Flying Leopard, which is apparently the PLA’s “signature” aircraft.

A new patch to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (opens in new tab) has finally fixed one of the game’s long-standing glitches. After remaining unchecked since the game was released, Modern Warfare 2’s armour piercing ammo doesn’t pierce armour anymore. Wait. What?

Yes, you read that right. Amid a bunch of patch notes consisting of bog-standard bugfixes and balance tweaks, Raven has slipped in a baffling adjustment to the way MW2’s AP ammunition works. The patch has “Removed damage multiplier against armored opponents,” which means it’ll now do as much damage to armoured enemies as regular ammo. Welcome to a new world of armour-respecting ammunition.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is gearing up for its next update, taking us to infinity and beyond. As part of Toy Story’s 27th anniversary on November 22, Gameloft announced that Woody and Buzz would be the next to join our valleys in an update arriving in December.

It’s the game’s second major update, following the introduction of The Lion King’s Scar (opens in new tab)in October. Gameloft hasn’t given much away about what to expect in this update, but there are a few things already known. There’ll be a Toy Story realm—mini instances themed around their respective movies—which will be set in Bonnie’s room. Considering the Dreamlight Valley Twitter tells us to “prepare to shrink down,” it seems likely that everyone will be toy-sized for the next adventure.

Whatever help you need with today’s Wordle, I’m sure you’ll find something useful here. I can offer you a quick clue if you’d just like a prod in the right direction, the complete answer to the daily challenge, and if you’ve never played before I’ve got lots of helpful tips below, all of them designed to make the November 23 (522) puzzle and every one after it a breeze.

Finding three greens on the first guess is basically an automatic win, isn’t it? That’s what I thought when the results of today’s opener flipped over, anyway. Somehow I managed to avoid the answer until the very last go and saw not a single yellow along the way, squeezing in a victory in based on what was left to try rather than an enlightened guess.

Our favourite gaming chair just pulled off an aesthetic collaboration that is likely to be a big hit with Star Wars fans. Secretlab partnered with Disney for a new line featuring two Star Wars-themed chairs. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect throne to complete that Emperor Palpatine setup of yours, then these have you covered.

The Secretlab Star Wars imperial Collection (opens in new tab) features two chairs inspired by the dark side of the force. Both are based on the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 (opens in new tab), which we were very pleased with in our review. It’s one of the most comfortable and premium-feeling gaming chairs around, especially so if you go for those new nice plush armrests (opens in new tab). The only real change anyone should notice on the Star Wars Imperial collection editions is the aesthetics.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Skyrim were really fucked up? Just like disastrously so?

Now you can experience just such a thing, as the mod “Cursed Skyrim – Hold the Fuck Up” will give to you an experience of outrageously long-lived RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (opens in new tab) where everyone’s head is real small. It is—to be direct—a crime against the laws of gods and men alike.

Creative Assembly just rolled out an update for Total War: Warhammer 3. Mostly focusing on improvements for Immortal Empires, it’s also got a slew of balance changes, content updates, and bug fixes. Here’s a glance at the highlights.

If you’re like me and have had a love affair with da green boyz since before there were cell phones, you’ll be stoked to see that the original eight Legendary Lords from the first Total War Warhammer have received new intro videos. Emperor Karl Franz looks majestic, I guess, but the real highlight is seeing Grimgor Ironhide and Azhag the Slaughterer with updated graphics. Waaaagh!

The Hyperkin Xenon will have a modernized menu, view, and share buttons, and will gain a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside a USB-C cable. You’ll be able to get it in 360-era Xbox white as well as black, pink, and red.
