Rockstar has issued a clarification of its policies around Grand Theft Auto Online roleplay servers, a move that has caused some consternation among the huge community that play GTA Online this way, but seems sparked by an isolated server set up to promote a rapper. Yep: take a bow Lil Durk, if that is your real name.

GTA Online’s new policy on roleplay servers was posted November 18 and is, as you would expect, rather lawyerly. It begins by saying Rockstar believes in “reasonable fan creativity” and that it hopes roleplay servers will continue to “thrive in a safe and friendly way” for years to come.

Players have discovered a Call of Duty: Warzone 2 glitch that allows you to level a gun from baseline to maximum level in a single match: and just as quickly, developer Raven Software swung into action and squished it. It’s all thanks to the exponential XP reward that can come from repeating one of the in-game contracts, Safecracker, which is a straightforward mission that nearly doubles the XP award each time one is completed.

Amusingly enough, this is a recurring Call of Duty bug: you could almost call it a launch bug. I recall one in particular that involved spamming Supply Run missions, but essentially every time it’s been the same thing, a particular mission that exponentially increased the XP reward the more you played it.

Gaming is a great way to pass the time on long journeys, especially now Valve’s Steam Deck lets you take your entire PC gaming library along for the ride. But one thing you can’t take with you is the immersion and privacy afforded by a home desktop. Bringing a 27-inch monitor onto the train with you would definitely have people looking over your shoulder, while draping your coat over your head isn’t exactly a comfortable solution to curious commuters watching you play God of War.

Enter Nreal Air, Nreal’s new pair of augmented reality glasses, designed to provide a cinematic viewing experience wherever you are on a wide range of devices. Lightweight, comfortable, and stylish, they’re a great way to turn a portable gaming experience into something more comprehensive. Here are five reasons why Nreal’s Air glasses are the ultimate Steam Deck companion.

1. A desktop experience in your pocket

Cometh the month, cometh the deals. It’s Black Friday season, and whereas that used to conjure images of long lines and aggressive trolley-loading, thanks to the ecommerce gods Cyber Week is now a rather more sedate, convenient affair.

MSI’s seizing the day—in fact, the whole week, running November 21st-30th—and slashing prices of several of its laptop lines by up to 35%.

While Twitter users joke about the social media platform being on the brink of death and deletion thanks to Elon Musk’s mismanagement, game developers have used this opportunity to stage a final confession, an absolution of all their design sins. It began with a senior character artist working on Overwatch (opens in new tab) admitting he hid “abstracted versions of Loss in older projects”, and continued from there.

Other developers confessed to similar Loss-related crimes against videogames. For anyone who has remained blessedly ignorant of the Loss meme until now, it began when middling videogame-themed webcomic Ctrl+Alt+Del took an unexpected turn for the dramatic with a strip depicting miscarriage. The attempt to add emotional heft to a gamers-on-a-couch gag strip was so mockable that chronically online people torment each other with minimalist-yet-recognizable interpretations of its four panels (opens in new tab) to this day.

On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that’s a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we’ve gathered the best PC games (opens in new tab) you can play right now and a running list of the 2022 games (opens in new tab) that are launching this year.

Mass Effect is 15 years old as of November 20, and unofficial Twitter account Mass Effect News (opens in new tab) has celebrated by collecting together some of its prototype art, video, and documents. While none of this is new (the scan of the 2003 pitch document (opens in new tab) has been floating around on the internet for over a decade), it’s still interesting to look back at how much of it changed.

For starters, when Casey Hudson submitted that pitch on September 15, 2003, it was for a game to be called not Mass Effect, but “SFX”. Other suggested titles came later, several of which made it as far as having logos designed (opens in new tab), like The Epsilon Effect, Biowar, Element Zero, Element, The Oculon, The Optigon, Unearthed, Nebula: Guardians of the Citadel, Star Citadel, and plain old The Citadel.

Julius Caesar is coming back to the Civilization series, and will hit the game starting on November 21, 2022, free for anyone who links a 2K account to Civilization 6 (opens in new tab). It’ll be the first time in a while that Julius Caesar takes the reigns of Rome, acting as an alternative to Trajan, the current leader.

Caesar comes as an addition to the first of the new Leader Pass (opens in new tab) releasing on the same day, the Great Negotiators Pack, adding Abraham Lincoln (United States), Queen Nzinga Mbande (Kongo), and Sultan Saladin (Arabia).

I would like to ask your opinion on how many eyeballs is too many eyeballs. Is it like, five eyeballs? Three? For many I guess it’s eight, since that’s how many eyeballs a spider has and they do not like spiders. Either way, I think we can agree that the Obsession’s Gaze update for Darkest Dungeon 2 (opens in new tab) has altogether too many eyeballs.

As evinced in the trailer above, there are creatures that have one eyeball. Then they have several eyeballs, then a creature appears which is made almost wholly of eyeballs. Did I mention that the eyeballs are very large? They’re very large eyeballs.
