Whether you have a burning desire to win today’s Wordle in a single guess or you’d just like to find new ways to approach the daily word game, everything you need is right here. Come take a look at our general tips, read through a helpful clue for the January 23 (948) puzzle, or go take a cheeky peek at today’s Wordle answer.

In the moment, my opening guess felt like nothing short of a disaster—all greys, really? But it also immediately shut down a wide range of possibilities, and that gave my next attempt the focus it needed to get this game back on track (after I’d stopped worrying, anyway). Thanks to that, my third row turned into a quick Wordle win—phew!

The Azerothian Archives is a surprisingly deep event in World of Warcraft which has arrived with the 10.2.5 patch. It brings opportunities to earn new transmogs, mounts and pets, along with reputation to earn with old and new factions.

The Archives creates a new flavor of archaeology with an excavation mini-game, tracking and spotting artifacts, watching short scenes of local history, and a Big Dig event that feels like a combination of the Tuskarr Community Feast, a Suffusion Camp, and a Superbloom.

You may be familiar with Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrun tricks like shadowboxing, which is where you kill Shadowheart and stuff her in a box as a way of skipping through a substantial part of the game. Which is honestly a bit of a rough way to treat God’s favorite princess and the most interesting girl in the world. Shadowheart gets some comeuppance in a technique used by Mae, the speedrunner who holds the current world records for any%, all acts%, and sex%. Let me introduce you to the Shadowbear.

This one works thanks to the massive amounts of bludgeoning damage you cause by transforming into something big, then jumping on someone in Baldur’s Gate 3. The orbital owlbear strike is the most brutal example of this exploit, but Mae uses a slightly different one to wrap up act two’s boss fight 12 minutes into her recent run for Awesome Games Done Quick 2024. By casting enlarge on Shadowheart before transforming her into a bear, then making her invisible, Mae creates a stealth bomb that weighs 5,005 kilograms and kills first Ketheric Thorm and then his final form, the avatar of Myrkul, simply by landing on their heads.

On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that’s a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we’ve gathered the best PC games you can play right now and a running list of the 2024 games that are launching this year.

First published in 1987, Ars Magica is a tabletop RPG set in a version of medieval Europe where magic is real and all the player-characters are wizards. Well, technically. One of the novel ideas of Ars Magica was “troupe-style play” in which every player created multiple characters, playing different ones as the story dictated. You might be a powerful wizard of the Order of Hermes one week, then one of their menial sidekicks called “grogs” the next.

Ars Magica also pioneered rules for shared worldbuilding, with players collaborating to create a covenant—a stronghold where the wizards and their associated outcasts and misfits banded together. It also suggested players take turns being the Game Master or Story Guide, each telling different stories in Mythic Europe before handing on the reins.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy your first Wordle win of the weekend. However you want to solve Saturday’s game, from a cheeky peek at today’s answer to mulling over a helpful clue for the January 20 (945) game with your morning coffee, you’ll find everything you need below.

Today’s puzzle was my favourite sort of weekend Wordle—it put up enough of a fight to be interesting, but not so much that I started to fear for my win streak after the first few rows. I may not have found the Wordle answer in record time, but I definitely had fun prising this word out of the haze of letters.

Halo Infinite’s next big update is coming January 30 with a new arena map, a new operation, a free Mark IV Spartan core, and the long-awaited ability to equip shoulder pieces on any armor. 343 showed off the update, which also includes new Covenant items in Forge, in a livestream today. It looks like a nice little followup to the midseason Firefight update in December, though the way 343 talked about the update raised a big question for viewers: where’s Season 6?

At the end of the stream, 343 broke the news: there will be no Season 6. Halo Infinite is moving away from seasons.

It’s only on screen for a couple seconds, and only partially, but there’s no mistaking it: The Quake logo is drawn on a whiteboard that appears in the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle reveal video from this week’s Xbox Developer Direct. Above it is a cut-off word: “-AKE 6.”

I’m guessing that MachineGames didn’t write “CAKE 6” on a whiteboard.

The Genshin Impact 4.4 livestream is the latest special program detailing what Travelers can expect to get up to in the coming update. If you’re a regular Genshin player, these streams are usually worth tuning into since they provide info on events and upcoming characters. More importantly, they drop livestream codes you can redeem for Primogems to use when pulling those characters.

It looks like the two new characters this time are Pyro four-star, Gaming, and Anemo five-star, Xianyun, who is the human form of Cloud Retainer. There are also speculated reruns for Xiao, Nahida, and Yae Miko. I’ll list the livestream codes below as they drop during the program—these usually expire within a day, so be sure to redeem them as soon as possible.

Genshin Impact codes: All current livestream Primogems

  • BBQ8AZHUH2CZ – 100 Primogems and ten Mystic Enhancement Ore
  • MT88AYHCZ2UR – 100 Primogems and five Hero’s Wit
