As new VR headsets push what the technology can do, we’re getting an increasing number of cool and immersive games to go along with it. Korean XR developer Skonec Entertainment has been hard at work making its mark in the VR space over nearly two decades, with standout railgun shooters like Operation Ghost and Mortal Blitz VR. Now Skonec is bringing a little hero shooter flair to VR with Strike Rush on the MetaQuest, which is out today on April 18.

Inspired by genre favorites like Overwatch and Valorant, Strike Rush is a team-based action shooter, bringing all the fun of a hero shooter right to your headset. Two teams of four will duke it out across a variety of maps, vying for control of a point. Amass enough points—by preventing your opponents from capturing or doing a lot of the capturing yourself within 10 minutes—and you’ll secure victory.

Skonec Entertainment has poured its wealth of VR shooter experience into Strike Rush, making it stand out among other hero shooters sitting in your library. Its philosophy is to make gunshooting fun, with some innovative weapons and combat ready to be utilized as a result. Not only that, but Strike Rush features distinct AI companions called Blitzmons, who add a whole other layer of strategy to the game. They can accompany players to points and aid in combat by attack, defending or either healing the team. You’ll even be able to share unique interactions with your Blitzmon, so try not to get too attached.

The Sims isn’t the only PC life simulation game in town anymore. Dozens of smaller, more focused life sims have appeared in the years since Stardew Valley took off, and now upcoming Sims competitors like Paralives and Life by You are aiming for the same kind of broad home, relationship, family, and career simulation that EA’s 24-year-old Sims series is synonymous with.

Life by You director Rod Humble, who was the head of The Sims series for several years in the 2000s, thinks the fundamental inclusivity of the life sim genre is responsible for its growth.

If you’re looking for a breech-loaded grenade launcher in Destiny 2, it’s pretty likely that you’re trying to complete the newly added Climbing the Mountaintop quest to get The Mountaintop grenade launcher. In the quest you need to rapidly defeat a whole lot of enemies with breech-loaded grenade launchers—bonus progress in Onslaught—or bring one into PvP to kill guardians.

For those who are new to Destiny 2, or just haven’t ever really paid attention to weapon types, you might be scratching your head pondering when such a complicated sounding gun was added to the game. Don’t worry; unless you have literally just started, chances are you already have a breech-loaded grenade launcher, and even if you don’t, it’s easy enough to get a decent one.

What is a breech-loaded grenade launcher?

Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two Interactive said today that it has “approved a cost reduction program to identify efficiencies across its business and enhance the company’s margin profile, while still investing for growth,” and what that means in practical terms is that it’s canceling several games currently in development and laying off roughly 5% of its workforce.

Word of the layoffs came from an SEC filing saying Take-Two is “rationalizing its pipeline” and “streamlining its organizational structure.” Among the charges it will take in connection to the cuts are $15 to $25 million related to office space reductions, suggesting that some Take-Two offices will be closed as part of the cuts.

Star Citizen has just updated its minimum system requirements and they appear rather easy-going: a quad-core CPU of unspecified age, a GPU with 4GB of VRAM, and 16GB of system memory. Many modern systems quite happily conform to that specification, especially with the developers noting a few examples of graphics cards that meet the requirement, including the GTX 1060, RX 460, and Arc A380.

That’s the absolute bare minimum hardware required to run the game, as per the developers (via KitGuru). Though you probably won’t get far even if you do meet them. Take a look at the Star Citizen subreddit and recent threads would suggest anyone with a similar specification PC may run into some performance issues. In a thread noting the need for updated system requirements, you’ll find multiple mentions of how 32GB of speedy RAM is much more a requirement to enjoy the game with a modicum of performance than anything else.

I was just one letter off a win in two. Two. Somehow that almost feels worse than a game that sees me pulling out my hair and scraping the bottom of the board. There’s only one sensible thing to do—make sure I use the other letter tomorrow, so I don’t make the same mistake again. Okay so “sensible” might not be the right word for it, but it’ll still make me feel better.

People like the Fallout TV series on Amazon an awful lot—we called it “the best Fallout since New Vegas“—and that seems to be having quite the spillover effect for the Fallout videogames. All of the games in the long-running post-nuclear RPG series have seen a significant jump in players, and they’ve also muscled their way into Steam’s top-selling games chart.

SteamDB noted on Twitter (via Eurogamer) that “Fallout has more than doubled its concurrent players on Steam with the release of the Fallout TV series.”

Fallout 4 is the biggest beneficiary, spiking up to more than 83,000 concurrent players over the weekend, compared to a high of 24,000 the weekend before, a few days ahead of Amazon’s Fallout launch. Fallout 76 arguably set an even more impressive mark by surpassing 39,000 concurrent players on the weekend following the TV series release, a new all-time high on Steam for the four-year-old game. Fallout 3—my favorite of the Bethesda Fallouts, and I make no apologies for it—also saw a huge bounce, going from roughly 1,000 concurrents on April 7 to 6,700 a week later.

Reports of melting 12VHPWR power connectors surfaced almost immediately following the launch of the RTX 4090 back in October 2022. The issue was supposed to have been put to rest after Nvidia investigated the issue and released revised models featuring the updated 12V-2×6 connector, but it’s still rearing its ugly melted head in the year and a half since it launched.

NorthridgeFix, a Los Angeles based electronics repair company estimated it received around 200 cards and adapters with melted connectors over a period of just one month. NorthridgeFix doesn’t state whether the problem cards feature the older or newer connectors.

First reported by VG247, Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra took to Twitter a few days ago to suggest a new form of showing developer appreciation: having the option to leave a $10 or $20 tip on a game you love. You know, I guess I like the sentiment at least.

“When I beat a game, there are some that just leave me in awe of how amazing the experience was,” Ybarra wrote. “At the end of the game, I’ve often thought ‘I wish I could give these folks another $10 or $20 because it was worth more than my initial $70 and they didn’t try to nickel and dime me for every second.'”

Survival and town-building RPG Bellwright will release on Steam this month, with developers Donkey Crew announcing that they’re targeting April 23 for a release. The low fantasy RPG was well-received during its Steam Next Fest demo last year for its blend of survival crafting gameplay and third-person town building.

“Set in low medieval times, Bellwright combines the thrill of survival, combat and open-world exploration, with a deeply immersive storyline of intrigue and revolt. Players will lead a burgeoning rebellion against a tyrannical Sovereign, liberate oppressed villages, and uncover the dark secrets of their lineage,” said the developer in a press release.
