Things weren’t looking great for me today. I had too many grey letters right from the start, and they just kept on coming. They didn’t really stop until there was nothing left for me to try either—nothing left other than today’s answer, that is. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more relieved to see five letters turn green. Phew!

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor released in early access in February, and developer Funday Games and Ghost Ship Publishing have announced that the spinoff of Deep Rock Galactic has now sold over a million copies. A Vampire Survivors-inspired take on the joys of dwarves space-mining in extreme peril, the initial reception has been positive and left our own Robin Valentine “much more hooked than I expected.”

It’s good times for fans of beards, with the OG Deep Rock Galactic having now sold over 8 million copies itself and gearing up for its fifth season (which starts in June). Deep Rock Galactic released in early access in 2018, moving into full release in 2020, since when it’s followed a live service style seasonal model and gone from strength to strength. Deep Rock Galactic Survivors is published by Ghost Ship Games, a publishing label established after the original game’s success, and there’s more to come: cooperative roguelike spinoff Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core will enter Early Access later this year.

The few yellow letters I found on my first two rows were a pretty awkward bunch—and today that was just what I needed. If they weren’t going to sit in any of the usual spots then they’d have to go there and there, and their odd placement meant I found today’s Wordle answer in a flash.

Lords of the Fallen’s final update, version 1.5, gives it what every good action RPG must have: a randomizer mode for the sickos who thrive in the chaos of unpredictable enemies and loot.

A list of new options to modify the normal structure of the game will now be available when you’ve completed it. You can randomize the loot dropped by enemies and the types of enemies that show up. Other options include pre-upgraded loot drops, weaker healing, more enemies, permadeath, and fewer (or zero) of the game’s Dark Souls bonfire-like checkpoints, or “Vestiges”.

Qualcomm has just taken the wraps off its new Snapdragon X range of laptop PC chips, giving us the full details of its first flush of ARM-based CPUs and a new lower-end model, too. The NEW Snapdragon X Plus processors will sit alongside the higher-spec X Elite chips, bringing the ARM architecture to the traditionally x86 dominated Windows desktop.

And, honestly, the new Qualcomm chips are the single piece of PC technology I’m most excited about seeing this year. With the promise that standard Windows games will “just work” with the Snapdragon X series, and the expectation that we are looking at performance levels around the already impressive AMD RDNA 3-based Radeon 780M built into the best of the red team’s laptop chips and the best handheld gaming PCs around, there’s some real promise in moving away from that classic x86 CPU in your next laptop.

Today’s Wordle became a heck of a lot easier once I stopped chasing the wrong answer. I’m kicking myself right now. If I’d been a little bit more careful, a little more aware, after my second go, I could’ve finished today’s Wordle in a flash.

Ready yourselves for a special edition of the Meta Quest 3. The theme? Xbox. The point? It comes with Xbox controllers and Game Pass in the box.

Meta has announced that it will be opening up the OS included with the Meta Quest 3 to other hardware manufacturers, including Lenovo and Asus. The latter is supposedly creating a dedicated gaming headset with all the ROG trimmings, too. But not to be left out, Microsoft reportedly has teamed up with Meta for its own headset, an Xbox themed Meta Quest.

PCIe Gen 5 SSDs are now widely available. There are numerous examples of speedy Gen 5 x4 drives including Teamgroup Z540 And Nextorage X Series. But one of the names missing the Gen 5 x4 wave is Samsung. We’re yet to see a true replacement for the Samsung 990 Pro. Or have we?

The answer to that is a big no, even though listings for a so-called Samsung 1080 Pro has shown up at AliExpress. Sadly, this is not some pre-release early listing, these drives are total fakes. The first red flags are the ridiculously low prices. AU$48.73 (under $29 USD) for a high performance 4TB SSD should be enough to prevent anyone from falling for this scam.

Blizzard is leveraging pure nostalgia with WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, a limited-time opportunity to rewind time and play through a modernized version of the 2011 expansion. When it goes live on May 16, you’ll be able to quickly level up a character who will transfer over to the regular servers when it’s over, presumably as a fun way to prepare for The War Within expansion later this year.

WoW expansions are already playable as you level up in WoW, but WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria will take place on separate servers and feature faster leveling, new items, and rewards to take back to the regular MMO. Think of it like an accelerated tour through one of WoW’s best expansions, an alternative to the normal leveling experience.
